New ‘Transformers: Age Of Extinction’ Commercial Brings On Judgement Day

by 06/10/14

Each new look at “Transformers: Age of Extinction” gets us more excited, and the latest 60 second spot ratchets things up faster than Ratchet, the Autobot medic who has appeared in every movie up until this point and could easily patch up a leaky Optimus Prime.

Multiple dinobots? Check.

Some sort of robot that can turn into cubes or whatever? Check.

Reference to the best “Terminator” movie ever made? Check, and mate.

“Transformers: Age of Extinction” hits theaters on June 27.

Kendrick Lamar On Lupe Fiasco’s Comments: ‘Everybody Entitled To An Opinion’

by 06/10/14

Last week, Lupe Fiasco told Hot 97 that he doesn’t think Kendrick Lamar is the best lyricist in the game — and while the comment made headlines, K. Dot doesn’t sound too concerned.

“Everybody entitled to an opinion, you feel me,” the Los Angeles native said in an interview with Kube 93 FM. “I just continue to do what I do. Everybody feel they own aspect of it, and how they look at different artists, but I just continue to do what I do.”

The comments came in response to statements Lupe made while up at the New York radio station just a few days ago promoting his new single, “Mission.” He offered his views on the state of promising lyricists. “Of the young MCs, I think lyrically, it’s King Los, it’s Logic,” he said, disagreeing with host Peter Rosenberg, who was championing Kendrick.

This wasn’t the first time the Chicago native has sent jabs in the good kid, m.A.A.d. city rapper’s direction. Following the release of his controversial “Control” verse, the T.D.E. rapper was on the receiving end of some lyrical from Lupe.

“He’s so crazy, look at the little baby/ N—a you ain’t Nas, n—a you ain’t Jay Z/ You will respect me, you will reject me/ But I’ve done so much, no matter how far you go, you will reflect me,” Lupe rhymed on “SLR 2″ back in August.

Kendrick also confirmed that he’s got a new album in the works, though didn’t reveal a title or potential release date.

‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’: Zoe Saldana Is Ready To Kick Your Butt On New Poster

by 06/10/14

Yesterday we got to see a character poster (well, characters poster) for Rocket and Groot, the alien raccoon and tree, respectively, voiced by Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel in Marvel’s upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy.” And today, via Fandango, Zoe Saldana gets the solo poster treatment.

And she is ready to smirk your butt off.

The character is the most dangerous woman in the universe, an assassin with ties to the evil Thanos; though now she’s teamed up with the anti-heroic Guardians, including Chris Pratt as Star Lord, and Dave Bautista as Drax — both of whom we should be getting posters for over the next two days, if our clocks are set right.

Hugh Jackman Shaved His Head And Now He’s A Bald Pirate: See The Pic

by 06/10/14

Just days ago, he was rapping with T.I. and LL Cool J, and now we can’t even recognize him: Hugh Jackman has shaved his head.

Blackbeard is born. #PAN

The actor shorn (shorned? sheared?) his locks for his role as the pirate Blackbeard in the upcoming “Pan,” a reimagining of the classic story “Peter Pan” from the pirate’s perspective. Jackman’s Blackbeard goes on to train the young Captain Hook in his “having two hands” days.

Other than that, we don’t know too much about the Joe Wright-directed movie, which also stars Amanda Seyfried, Rooney Mara (as Tiger Lily) and Garrett Hedlund as Hook.

We do know that we’ve seen this look on Jackman before, one other time he worked with Amanda Seyfried, and it looked goooood:

James Franco Wrote A Story About Not Sleeping With Lindsay Lohan

by 06/09/14

So, James Franco read Lindsay Lohan a bedtime story called “A Perfect Day for Banafish.”

Or, at least, he did as much in a new short story he wrote for Vice called “Bungalo 89,” as part of their new fiction issue.

“Once upon a time a guy, a Hollywood guy, read some Salinger to a young woman who hadn’t read him before. Let’s call this girl Lindsay,” he writes at one point in the story, which is said to be a work of fiction, but includes a number of real people and events.

“She was a Hollywood girl, but a damaged one. I knew that she would like Salinger, because most young women do. I read her two of the Nine Stories, ‘A Perfect Day for Bananafish’ and ‘For Esmé—with Love and Squalor.’”

Later, he addresses the rumor which surfaced earlier this year, that the two had slept together.

“Now we were lying in bed,” the tale continues. “I wasn’t going to f–k her. She had her head on my shoulder. She started to talk. I let her.”

The conclusion of the odd-yet-entertaining bit of prose again aims at Lohan. “Every night Lindsay looked for me, and I hid,” Franco writes. “Out the window was Hollywood.”

This Wytches Track Will Give You The Shivers

by 06/09/14

Get ready to creep in the summer heat: U.K. band The Wytches are out with a new track Monday (June 9) and it will give you goosebumps despite the sun ‘n’ fun.

“The Holy Tightrope” comes off of a limited-edition 7-inch single the band is releasing before heading out on North American tour with Cloud Nothings and METZ in July.

For those not in the know, The Wytches are a … we’re just going to call them “gloom rock” … a gloom rock band that throws a seance with every song — a seance replete with rattling bones, guttering candle flames, and deep-dark ghosts that break through the borders of life and death to haunt your brain. And all this cosmos-shaking power comes from 21-year-old frontman Kristian Bell, who lives at home and composes tunes in his bedroom. So get off my back, Mom and Dad — am I right?

While you wait for their debut record, Annabel Dream Reader, to drop on August 26, check out “The Holy Tightrope” below.

One Month After Sheezus, Lily Allen Releases 5 New Tracks

by 06/09/14

It’s only been a month since Lily Allen released her first album in five years, Sheezus, and she’s already out with new music. Well, new to you and me.

Allen took to Twitter Monday (June 9) to bestow upon us a cadre of previously unreleased jams and demos, tweeting:

She initially posted 11 tracks, according to Consequence Of Sound, taking down six over the last few hours.

Check out one track that survived the cull — glitched-out, chip-tune-esque “I Was Born In The ’80s” — down there.

50 Cent Just Dropped Animal Ambition, But His Next Album Is Coming This Year Too

by 06/09/14

Have you had time to fully digest 50 Cent’s new album, Animal Ambition, which dropped last Tuesday? Still getting used to it, picking out your favorites, memorizing the words? Well hurry up, because you’ve only got three months until Fif’s next album.

Street King Immortal will actually be out in September,” 50 announced on “The Daily Buzz.”

The album was initially slated to be his fifth solo effort, until he decided to release Animal Ambition first. It’s no surprise, then, that this was actually completed prior to his recent release.

“The next project, Street King Immortal, was already written before I wrote that project,” he said, also adding that this may have some more songs for the ladies than AA.

It’s going to be a busy second half of the year for Fif, who said he also plans to release a G-Unit album in November.

7 Totally Legit ‘Fault In Our Stars’ Sequel Ideas

by 06/09/14

There’s no good reason to make a sequel to “The Fault In Our Stars.” The movie — and John Green’s book — tell a story that feels, and is, completely done in one. But, and here’s the big caveat, the movie made a ton of money over the weekend.

So even if there’s no necessity for a sequel, you know that somewhere in Hollywood someone is floating, and possibly even exploring, the idea.

With that in mind, here’s 7 possible, totally legit ideas for sequels to “The Fault In Our Stars:”

The My Girl 2
Example(s): “My Girl 2″
There’s no good reason why the story of “My Girl” should have continued after spoiler Macaulay Culkin’s character dies of bee stings, similar to how Ansel Elgort’s character spoiler dies in “TFIOS,” though actually not similar at all because cancer. And yet, it did continue, following Anna Chlumsky’s character as she continues to grow and experience what it is like to be a girl in the possessive.

Similarly, “The Fault In Our Stars 2″ could follow Shailene Woodley’s Hazel Grace as she continues to wrestle with the Big C, and maybe finds a new love? We know no one can measure up to Augustus Waters, but let’s be frank: “My Girl 2″ didn’t measure up to “My Girl,” and it happened anyway.

The Sidequel
Example(s): “Get Him To The Greek,” “This Is 40″
Probably the most reasonable way of continuing the story is by not following Hazel Grace, but instead one of the supporting characters. The most obvious choice would ...
