Evan Rachel Wood Said She Was ‘Almost In Tears’ During That Iconic ‘Vanity Fair’ Photo Shoot

by 10 mins ago

If you were a teen in the year 2003, you probably purchased Vanity Fair‘s now-iconic Young Hollywood issue featuring stars such as Lindsay Lohan, Hilary Duff and the Olsen Twins. Another young cover star from the issue, actress Evan Rachel Wood, recently revealed her frustrations as a young teen during the photo shoot in a series of tweets to a fan.

Vanity Fair - Evan Rachel WoodMark Seliger/Vanity Fair

For Evan, the experience was less fun-filled slumber party with her besties and more of a wake-up call about the realities of the treatment of young women in Hollywood. Evan tweeted about the fashion choices (no pants!) and the vocal critiques of the young women’s appearances in front of each other.

Her criticism comes at an interesting time as more and more young women in Hollywood are facing scrutiny, responsibility and visibility. Just look at the sort of attention and criticism faves like Miley Cyrus and Read More →

The Pizza-Eating Puppy In Disney’s New Short Film ‘Feast’ Is Your Actual Spirit Animal

by 2 mins ago

If you were to put a gun to our head and ask us what the two most important things in life are, we’d probably (understandably) panic, and say puppies and food. The trailer for Disney Animation’s latest short, “Feast” has both of those things in deliciously adorable spades.

If the style looks dreamy and lovely it’s likely because it came from first-time director Patrick Osborne, he was head of animation on the dreamily poignant and Oscar-winning “Paperman,” was in charge of the whole thing.

“Feast” follows a precious pooch named Winston, traversing the peaks and valleys of his owner’s love life as seen through the many meals the duo share — which sounds like primo territory for adorableness, cute overloads, and all of the feels. The short will play before “Big Hero 6″ showings starting when that film opens on November 7, 2014.

No YOU’RE the one tearing up right now at an animated puppy, get out of here!

Too much exuberance for one person. Follow her on Twitter @alicialutes.

Snapchat Just Started Doing Something They’ve Never Done Before

by 10 mins ago

The inevitable is here: Snapchat will now run ads.

You might have already noticed this over the weekend while you were sendings and receiving your best selfies, but the popular photo and video messaging app has made it official.

In a blog post on Friday, the company said, “It’s the first time we’ve done anything like this because it’s the first time we’ve been paid to put content in that space. It’s going to feel a little weird at first, but we’re taking the plunge.”

The first Snapchat advertisement is a 20-second video trailer for the upcoming board-game horror film “Ouija”, which opens October 24, just in time for Halloween. According to a report from Advertising Age, Universal Studios, which will release “Ouija,” edited the trailer so it would look like a “Snapchat Story.” In the future, ads will appear in users’ “Recent Updates” section and not in their active photo stream.

The company also thankfully made a note of letting users know that viewing the ad is entirely optional (at least for now). Just like the Stories feature (which allows users to compile a long series of photos and videos to share with all of their followers), Snapchat ads will disappear after ...

When Will We Get Taylor Swift’s Next Single? Sooner Than You Think

by 6 mins ago

The lead up to Taylor Swift‘s first major pop album 1989 has been like a treasure hunt meshed with a birthday party. Between the fan-focused secret listening sessions, the hilarious outtakes from her “Shake It Off” video and the Harry Styles rumors that are swirling around her next single “Out Of The Woods” it has been quite a ride.

But all that is about to get swept under the rug and completely surpassed. Why? Because last night she teased her next single on Twitter and I feel like it’s going to be a doozy.

The shot of her with a skyline? That’d be New York City, the place where Tay Tay has been spending a ton of her time lately, and according to the ever-churning Swiftie rumor mill, there’s a song on her album called “Welcome To New York” that this photo might reference that track.

Though Taylor has claimed on her Tumblr that the tracklist is wrong, she also had to go back and revise that it is right about some things! But if this leak does have any hint of truth, then the song is one that Taylor co-wrote with One Republic’s Ryan Tedder so you know it will have a huge emotional chorus buoyed by probably strings and beautiful piano, right?? Guess we’ll just have to wait until ...

Emma Stone Hilariously Explains How She Kept Screwing Up ‘Birdman’

by 10 mins ago

The currently in theaters “Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)” would be a weird enough concept – Michael Keaton plays a former superhero movie star given one last chance to revive his most famous role, mirroring real life – without one of the most ambitious conceits in movie history: director Alejandro González Iñárritu filmed the whole thing in one take.

Or at least, the 119 minute movie which co-stars Emma Stone, Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton and more looks like it was filmed in one take due to some judicious camera cuts. Still, even with the faux-one-shot, Iñárritu still would film the long tracking shots in four minute chunks or more, something virtually unheard of in today’s quick-cut world.

And because of that? Emma Stone kept screwing up the movie. A lot.

“It was hard. It was definitely hard,” Stone told MTV News about Iñárritu’s unique technique. “And I screwed it up, quite a few times. And I was just so sick to my stomach, waiting for them to do the scene, hearing how good this take was going to be and then coming in, and going around the corner too fast and ruining it.”

Given the ambition of the film, you’d imagine that perhaps the cast and crew would coddle a big movie star like Stone, understanding that’s it’s difficult to keep your motivation and character for minutes at a time, let alone nail your blocking without fail.

Nope.

“Well, Alejandro goes, ‘You’re ruining the movie!’ and then you go, ‘Oh, ...

What do you think a superhero would smell like? ‘The Walking Dead’: Chad Coleman Explains Why Tyreese Is The Barack Obama Of The Group

by 15 mins ago

Tyreese (Chad Coleman) had a problem. A huge problem, even taking into account the fact that he lives in the zombie-infested world of “The Walking Dead.” The hammer-wielding badass, when season five began, had lost his nerve. Though it’s a world based on violence, the group was facing down cannibals (as well as the living dead), he was unable to kill anyone himself.

But by the end of the season premiere, Tyreese was driven to beat one of the denizens of the human-flesh hungry “sanctuary” of Terminus to death… Or at least, that’s what he told Carol (Melissa McBride) when the whole group reunited at the train tracks.

Except, that’s not exactly what happened.

When we talked to Coleman at the MTV studios in New York, the actor told us that through some creative editing, Tyreese’s choice may not be as clear as it seemed at the end of episode one… And coming up, things continue to be a murky grey for his character.

In fact, as we found out, Tyreese seems to be stuck clearly in the middle of the group of survivors, not quite on one side or another. When we asked Coleman what his role would going forward, he was at first hesitant to elaborate.

“I have to be careful, because they will chop off my head if I give anything away,” Coleman said laughing – and referencing the fact that his character does in fact get his head chopped off in the comics. Don’t worry, that event ...

Watch Drake Go Ham At The University Of Kentucky Big Blue Madness Basketball Event

by 2 mins ago

Drake has made his love for all things sports known. Whether it’s putting out the name-checking track “Draft Day,” cheering on his very own Toronto Raptors while lint-rolling his pants, or delivering a pep talk to the University of Kentucky’s basketball team after their Final Four win.

And though we know he’s loyal to his Raptors, it’s Kentucky’s Big Blue Madness pre-season scrimmage that drew Drizzy to go the extra mile—including a full dress down and warm up with the team.

First, he personally greeted every Wildcats player with a high five and his signature Drizzy good luck grin:

Unfortunately, his three-pointer is more of a brick…

But he made up for it by showing off his champion lint-rolling skills:

Truly, he is a champion lint-roller. If you need your own though, don’t forget that he had some custom-made.

And he introduced Coach Calipari to the crowd with another inspirational pump-up speech:

Drake sure knows how to warm up a crowd—might want to work on that 3-point shot though.

Nicholas Hoult Reveals How Filming ‘Young Ones’ Was Like ‘Charlie And The Chocolate Factory’

by 8 mins ago

With reporting by Josh Horowitz

Young Ones” might be a post-apocalyptic drama with a stellar cast including Nicholas Hoult, Michael Shannon, Elle Fanning and more – but according to Hoult, what set the movie apart was really the living conditions.

“We were miles away from anywhere in this little bubble,” Hoult told MTV News about filming director Jake Paltrow’s now-in-theaters film, “and that’s often the situation with anything. You get in there, and meet these new people, suss each other out, and suddenly, hopefully, it all clicks into place and you find a groove. You’re living, sleeping – not sleeping – in a house together.”

Laughing, Hoult clarified his little sleeping gaffe, joking that he and his co-stars were in, “Just one giant bed, like ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’.”

Jokes aside, Hoult liked the close quarters, something that allowed him to get closer to co-star Shannon.

“when I first met Michael I thought he hated me,” Hoult recalled. “When you get to know him you realize he’s very dry, he mumbles along, doesn’t make a lot of eye contact, has this face which is so intense. And then hopefully he warms to you a little bit and then kind of takes care of you.”

Given he and Shannon were essentially living together for the duration of the “Young Ones” shoot, Hoult didn’t just get Shannon to warm to him – he also took the veteran actor on as something of a guru.

“We’d sit on the veranda in the evening,” Hoult said, “and ...
