‘Game of Thrones’: Do These ‘First Of His Name’ Preview Pics Contain Spooky Spoilers?

by 05/02/14

Game of Thrones” has been on fire this season… and not just because of all the dragons, because they breathe fire, get it? The show has also sparked numerous discussions, ratings have grown every episode and even book fans are shocked by all the twists and turns.

This week’s episode remains, as usual, shrouded in secrecy, but HBO has provided five pictures previewing the episode which might spoil a big twist. Here’s what we can suss out based on the pics:

Pedro Pascal, Lena Headey

It is interesting to see Cersei (Lena Headey) conspiring with Oberyn Martell (Pedro Pascal), mainly because Oberyn hates the Lannisters. Could she be trying to get the Red Viper of Dorne to turn against his friend, Tyrion (Peter Dinklage)? And who is that fuzzy figure in the background… It couldn’t be a ghost, could it?

Maisie Williams

Arya (Maisie Williams) has her sword Needle back, and seems to either be facing someone down, or training with it. Could The Hound (Rory McCann) be working with Arya in some sort of Rocky/Mickey type arrangement? Are we going to see Arya finally make it to the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art this episode?

More importantly, it’s interesting that we can’t see who she’s fighting, almost like they were invisible, like some sort of ghost.

Emilia Clarke

Hm, Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) sure seems pale here. Perhaps she’s a little sick, or a ghost? That’s it, she’s probably a ghost.

Watch Usher Debut Brand-New Michael Jackson Song, ‘Love Never Felt So Good’

by 05/01/14

Between his music and dance moves, Usher has always channeled Michael Jackson. On Thursday night (May 1), Ush got to honor the King of Pop in a particularly special way: by helping to debut his new song.

During the first ever iHeartRadio Music Awards, Usher took the stage to perform a dance number to “Love Never Felt So Good,” a brand-new MJ song. The song, produced by John McClain and Paul Anka, was recorded back in 1983. It will be featured on XSCAPE, Jackson’s upcoming album.

The track was introduced by L.A. Reid, a veteran music executive who currently serves as the chairman and CEO of Epic Records. The label will be releasing the album, in conjunction with the Estate of Michael Jackson, on May 13.

In 2010, Epic released Michael, which was also a collection of previously unheard material from the musical icon.

Back in 2009, Usher paid tribute to Jackson in an interview with MTV News following the legend’s passing.

“I think Michael Jackson is by far one of the most impactful artists in music … when MTV did not play African-American videos, he took a stand and said, ‘This is a must,’ and you look what it became after that,” he said. “You can’t say that you are an artist in this century and [not be] influenced by Michael Jackson. I consider myself very fortunate to have had the opportunity to share the stage with him, to know him personally, and I am always going to remember him.”

Seth Rogen Turned Down Kanye And Kim’s Wedding Invite: Here’s Why

by 05/01/14

Seth Rogen and James Franco recently put together a hilarious bromance-infused Kimye-inspired string of parodies ‒ from a remake of the “Bound 2″ video to reshooting the Vogue cover. The performances caught they eye of both Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, and Rogen and Franco were almost part of their big day.

“[Kanye] said he was thinking it might be funny if he performed it at the wedding and we came out on a motorcycle,” Rogen said on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Thursday (May 1).

The more they thought about the execution of the idea, though, the less it seemed like a good one.

“And we were like, ‘And then what do we do?’ And then we were all like, ‘I don’t know!’ And then we were like, ‘That’s probably not going to be very funny.’ He’s like, then I’m just rapping with you and James Franco on a motorcycle for five minutes. And, thank God, I think it was kind of realized that it might not be the best idea.”

Still, the actor, whose new movie, “Neighbors,” hits theaters on May 9, would love to be at the event.

“If he wanted me there, I would have been naked, with a shirt off, however he wanted me, on a motorccyle, doing whatever he needed,” he joked. “Because I’m a fan. That’s just as a fan.”

Last week, Franco discussed the invite during an appearance on The View. “Kim loved the video and we didn’t hear back from Kanye so we kind of felt ...

Jamie Foxx Has A Bold Prediction For Drake’s Acting Career

by 05/01/14

Few rival Jamie Foxx in the success he’s had in the worlds of music and acting, and he feels like Drake could take that baton and run with it.

“What people don’t understand is, he’s an actor,” Foxx told MTV News while promoting “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” in which he stars as Electro. “So, when he did ‘Saturday Night Live,’ I was like, Oh, yeah, you really showing ‘em.”

Of course, Drake already has some on camera experience, having starred on “Degrassi,” a Canadian show, before his rap career took off. Foxx thinks there’s more to come ‒ and possibly together.

“I got movie ideas for him,” he said. “I think he can go a long way. He’s gonna be a surprise for the next two decades. That’s my prediction.”

If the results of the movie ideas mirror those of the musical collaborations Foxx and Drake have had, fans could be in for something special. Drizzy was on the remix to Foxx’s “Digital Girl” back in 2009, and was then featured on “Fall for Your Type,” which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, the following year.

“Drake is my little brother, man,” he said. “When he first came out, I took him to ‘[The Tonight Show With] Conan O’Brien’ and I said, ‘Listen, you may not know who this is, but in a couple of years, the whole world will know his name.’ “

2 Chainz To Funkmaster Flex: ‘F–k You’

by 05/01/14

2 Chainz isn’t very happy with Funkmaster Flex at the moment.

“I don’t give a f–k what Funkmaster Flex gotta say about this n—a from Atlanta,” Tit said during a concert on Wednesday night.

The animosity stems from comments Flex made in April during an appearance on ESPN’s “Highly Questionable.” When the veteran DJ was asked which rapper gave the worst freestyle on his radio show, he was hesitant to name names at first, but ended up calling out Chainz.

“The freestyle that wasn’t very good on my show, um, it had to be 2 Chainz,” he told hosts Bomani Jones and Dan LeBatard. “Honestly, I think I caught him off guard. I think he didn’t expect me to ask him to do it. I’ve heard him on shows freestyling before, so I knew he could handle it, but I think that day he couldn’t handle it.”

Coincidentally (or, more likely, not), the Def Jam rapper’s response came at the birthday show for DJ Prostyle ‒ who works at Power 105.1, an NYC rival of Flex’s Hot 97.

“I ain’t use no motherf–kin’ help,” he boasted while on stage at the Best Buy Theater. “I ain’t come to no n—a for no favors. I got up here on my own. F–k you and what you think about me, n—a.”

2 Chainz’s new EP, Freebase, drops this Monday.

EXCLUSIVE: ‘Pretty Little Liars’ Author Has A Totally Creepy New Series — And We’ve Got A Sneak Peek

by 05/01/14

Attention “Pretty Little Liars” fans: Do I have an almost-weekend treat for you. Sara Shepard, author of the creepastic series, is coming out with a new spine-chilling saga — and we’ve got the cover AND the first chapter right here.

I’m willing to wager your face looks a little like the below at present. Am I right?

Cool. Now compose yourself! We have some reading to do.

“The Perfectionists” — the first book in the series, set to drop in October — has everything that PLL does: murder, romance and TONS of intrigue. It tells the tale of popular jerk Nolan Hotchkiss and a group of girls who want to teach him a lesson — before someone beats them to the punch and he ends up dead. Intrigued yet? I thought so.

“It’s different from ‘Pretty Little Liars’ in that the characters in some ways create their own trouble and their own predicament, whereas in ‘Pretty Little Liars,’ the girls were kind of bullied,” Shepard told MTV News. “I think a few of the characters are a lot darker and kind of intriguing in that way. There’s more just really scary stuff going on just right from the get-go.”

Well, I won’t string you along any further. Let’s get right into said scary stuff!

Perfectionists

IN MANY WAYS, BEACON HEIGHTS, Washington, looks like any affluent suburb: Porch swings creak gently in the evening breeze, the lawns are green and well kept, and all the neighbors know one another. But this satellite of ...

Meet The Guy Who Links ‘Spider-Man’ And ‘The Avengers’

by 05/01/14

There’s been a lot of discussion about whether “The Amazing Spider-Man” series could ever cross over from Sony, to Marvel/Disney’s “The Avengers.” Here’s the thing: they already have, and it’s all because of one guy.

Veteran news anchor Pat Kiernan from local news station NY1 has appeared on screen multiple times. But his upcoming, very prominent appearance in the May 2 premiering “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ cements his reputation as the go-to fictional newsman. He’s previously appeared in “Iron Man 3,” “The Avengers” and others.

But unlike Stan Lee, who’s played multiple, different characters in nearly every Marvel related movie, Pat Kiernan has played only one character: Pat Kiernan, NY1 news anchor. That means that whether the studios play nice or not, the movies have already crossed over.

“It’s interesting, I never realized I was the only common character to all of them,” Kiernan said when we caught up with him by phone. “I could work up some plotlines now, I could be the link between these things.”

Kiernan continued, joking that, “Usually they have me in the newsroom, so I’d have to be out there and somehow become the go-between, between these two universes.”

Pat Kiernan

So how does a reputable fellow like Kiernan get involved in blockbuster superhero movies?

“Usually the producers come to NY1, because they’re seeking some sort of New York City authenticity,” Kiernan said. “It’s typical they’ll reach out to us rather than us reaching out to them. I haven’t got an acting agent who’s out there looking ...

#TBT: Today Is The Most Important Date In ‘Star Wars’ History

by 05/01/14

Sure we’re all eagerly anticipating “Star Wars: Episode VII,” but 37 years ago today was the most important day in “Star Wars” history: May 1 was the first public screening for the original “Star Wars,” a moment that could have broken the series — but didn’t.

In February of 1977, George Lucas held a screening of the rough cut for FOX executives and friends. Reaction was extremely mixed, with executives first applauding — then sniping behind Lucas’ back — while famous friends like Brian DePalma actively made fun of Lucas.

In fact back at that screening, when the effects needed to be finished and the movie’s opening crawl seemed embarrassing rather than the icon it would soon become, the only guy who liked the movie was Steven Spielberg.

Soft wipe to May 1, 1977. “Star Wars” was officially scheduled to open on May 25, and executives were understandably nervous. This was a time when blockbusters didn’t exist yet, and no one really had a handle on how this weird little scifi movie would play.

The test screening, the first one to include regular audience members, was held on a Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Northpoint Theater just off Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. It was attended by Lucas, FOX executives and fans who had no idea what was about to hit them.

The response was rapturous, with sustained applause greeting the end credits roll. FOX president Alan Ladd Jr., who had put his reputation on the line to ...

Throwback Thursday: ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2′ Cast

by 05/01/14

It’s Throwback Thursday andThe Amazing Spider-Man 2” week, which means it’s a perfect time to take a look at the adorable cast of the super-sequel from a younger, happier time. One way before their current sinister future:

Andrew Garfield
Spider-Man himself is, in case you didn’t know, from the UK. And as a citizen of Britain, he was legally required to appear on national treasure “Doctor Who” for at least one episode. Over-achiever that he is, Garfield appeared in a 2007 two-part episode as Frank, a lovable street ragamuffin who teamed up with The Doctor to fight pig creatures from outer space.

Emma Stone
Presaging her epic lip-synch battle with Jimmy Fallon, Stone got her career started competing on “In Search Of The Partridge Family,” eventually winning the short-lived role of Laurie in the pilot for “The New Partridge Family.” And as usual, she was adorable.

Paul Giamatti
Giamatti is a screen staple now, but his debut was in 1992′s “Singles.” Look at him! So fresh and young and full of hope! Fingers crossed they remake “Singles” now, but with rhinoceros mech-suits.

dane dehaan
Dane DeHaan
In case you’re wondering whether the Green Goblin actor was always this creepy, check out the above still from his 2008 appearance on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” Skin…. Crawling…

Jamie-Foxx
Jamie Foxx
We have no idea where this picture is from. Maybe a headshot from when he was an up and coming stand-up comic? Regardless. SO YOUNG.

Pharrell Wasn’t The First To Record ‘Happy’ – Find Out Who Was

by 04/30/14

Pharrell‘s single “Happy” has become a worldwide hit, but it almost wasn’t the Virginia native whose vocals ended up on the song.

“I actually did [give it to someone else]: Cee Lo,” Pharrell told Howard Stern earlier this week. “He did it, he did do it, but the ‒ how do I say this diplomatically? The powers that be at the time did not see it fit for him, and there was a much bigger agenda for him; he had bigger fish to fry, he had an album to put out.”

Not only did the Atlanta native record the song, but he did an incredible job, according to Pharrell. “He sounded amazing on it,” he said. “He burns my version.”

Though this potential collaboration didn’t hold up, two have something else in store. “I love working with him,” Pharrell said. “In fact, we have a song together on his next album. He is a tremendous, tremendously talented guy.”

He also been taken back by how successful the track has become. The ubiquitous song has gone multi-platinum and hit #1 in dozens of countries. “‘Happy’ has become a movement,” he said. “But when you think about that word, ‘movement,’ what that means, aside from [an] assembly of people going in a certain direction, there’s actually really kinetic movement. People responded to the song by voting for it and requesting it and sharing it and downloading and uploading.”
