Plies, Cassidy Drop Donald Sterling Dis Tracks

by 04/29/14

The outrage directed at Donald Sterling hasn’t subsided just because the NBA decided to ban the Los Angeles Clippers owner for life. Everyone from fans to media have taken aim at the 81-year-old, and now a few rappers are getting involved.

On Tuesday (April 29), both Plies and Cassidy fired lyrical shots at Sterling, who has been embroiled in controversy since Saturday, when a tape of him making racist remarks was released online.

Plies doesn’t pull any punches. His track, titled “Donald Sterling: Racist Muthaf–ka,” spends its entire two minutes and 42 seconds laying into its subject.

“Said you made us mutherf–kas? Nah, we made you,” he raps at one point, referencing one of the many discriminatory statements that Sterling had made on the tapes.

Later, he takes a broader brush to wonder what this latest incident means for society as a whole: “They say the world that we live in is a beautiful place/ How the f–k that is case if you still judged off race?”

This isn’t the first time that the Florida rapper has used his musical platform to speak on a hot-button current event with racial overtones. In April 2012, he released the song “We Are Trayvon,” shortly after the shooting death of the 17-year-old.

Philly native Cassidy also weighed in on the recent events, using a portion of his “Move That Dope” remix to voice his anger:

“The Clippers owner Donald Sterling should get the hell smacked/ How the man don’t like n—as when most of the Clippers the ...

Better Watch The Throne: Game And Ed Sheeran Have A Joint Album Coming

by 04/29/14

Game is still sorting out a label situation for his next solo album, but he’s focusing on something else, too.

“I’m working on a joint album with Ed Sheeran that we trying to drop probably end of the year, beginning of 2015,” Game told MTV News this week. “That is gonna be crazy.”

The genre-crossing relationship may seem a bit curious at first thought, but it began from a place of mutual respect. “It happened with a tweet,” the Los Angeles rapper explained. “He tweeted something about Jesus Piece, I responded, we exchanged numbers on the DM, and then we got in the studio. We were just planning to record one song; we ended up doing like seven.”

Back in January, Sheeran told MTV News that the two had in fact worked on 11 songs together. Whatever the exact number is, the chemistry was strong enough that the two wanted to turn it into a full project.

“Ed came up with the idea to start working on a joint album, and we started doing it,” Game said. “That was like in five hours. We was just going. He was on that guitar. Acoustically, he’s a genius, man, so when he does that, what comes out of me is songs like ‘Dreams’ and ‘Hate It or Love It’ and ‘My Life.’ The songs that we got, they’re real songs. And I can’t wait for people to hear ‘em.”

Since they first got up, the two have become fast friends. In November, Sheeran attended ...

Nick Jonas Put His Feelings About Rita Ora In A Song

by 04/29/14

It seems that once upon a time Nick Jonas was crushing on Rita Ora — and she kind of crushed him, apparently. Well, at least that’s the case according to a song he wrote back in 2013.

As part of a slew of songs last year that never manifested into an album, Jonas penned one particularly cutting track for him and his bros titled “What Do I Mean To You,” in which he bemoans a woman named Rita’s lack of interest in him.

“No need for water, Rita, you got the wine / Searching for diamonds, when I gave you the time / Keys to an open door, don’t need a lock / Stains on a dirty floor, you don’t see a spot,” he wails.

Heavy, man.

On a recent edition of “Watch What Happens Live,” Ora said that she and Jonas never had any sort of romantic entanglement — but did suspect that the song was about her.

“I never dated him,” she said. “I actually met Nick through a friend and it was a very weird situation because we were close, but it never went to that level, and then I read the lyric and I kind of messaged him and was like, ‘I have no idea where this came from. If you want to talk about it, call me.’”

“He was like, ‘You know what, I just obviously didn’t put out how I felt across to you properly.’ And it was one of those situations,” she added. “He ...

Zone Out To Coldplay’s Avicii-Assisted ‘A Sky Full Of Stars’

by 04/29/14

As Coldplay‘s frontman Chris Martin opens up more to the media, the band does the same. Coldplay is out with another peek at their upcoming record Ghost Stories Tuesday (April 29), an Avicii-assisted jam titled “A Sky Full Of Stars.”

According to a recent interview with BBC Radio 1′s Zane Lowe in which the singer discussed his divorce from Gwyneth Paltrow for the first time, Martin penned the band’s upcoming record with love in mind — opening yourself up to love and whatever it may bring.

“I think in life everyone needs to be broken in some way,” Martin said. “I think everyone in their life goes through challenges, whether it’s love or money, kids, or illness … You have to really not run away from that stuff. Life throws these colorful challenges at you.”

So far, many of the offerings off of Ghost Stories have been rather hushed and, well, haunted — and “A Sky Full Of Stars” is no different.

Part twinkly piano ballad, part sky-reaching EDM track, it’s the perfect complement to previously released jams “Midnight,” “Magic,” “Oceans,” “Another’s Arms” and “Always In My Head.”

Lie down, look at the stars, and listen up.

The track will be available for download on Saturday with the record dropping on May 19.

Scarlett Johansson Or Scarily Realistic Action Figure?

by 04/29/14

Hot Toys has always been known for their scarily realistic action figures, but the “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” collectible for Scarlett Johansson‘s Black Widow is so insanely accurate, it’s one baby bump away from just being Johansson.

The 1/16th scale figure is just a prototype now, but will reportedly have 30 points of articulation, nine interchangeable gloved palms, two pistols, Widow’s Bite bracelets, a mobile phone and the ability to commune psychically with Johansson. Just kidding on the last part.

There’s no price as of yet, though it’s available for pre-sale at some retailers for $219.99.

Slow Jam ‘Ducktales’ Theme Song Sexily Rewrites History

It’s that time again! Time to feel nostalgic while simultaneously kind of turned on by an otherwise innocent childhood memory. The memory in question? The “DuckTales” theme song.

When I was a kid, the only sort of need I gleaned from watching the exploits of wealthy flapper Scrooge McDuck was the need to swim in a giant vat of gold coins, as McDuck does on the reg. After listening to Postmodern Jukebox’s slow jam cover of the theme song, however, my needs were a bit less clear.

Someone explain my feelings to me, please, because all I know right now is that life is, indeed, like a hurricane. A hurricane in my heart.

Corrupt your own childhood below.

What ‘Justice League’ Means For A New ‘Batman’ Film

The most curious aspect of Warner Bros’ surprise announcement of a “Justice League” movie following “Superman vs. Batman” wasn’t that Zack Snyder was directing, rumors over the release date, or the lack of a firm statement about a possible “Wonder Woman” movie.

No, it was the complete lack of mention as to what DC’s Batman plans are.

As we’ve reported a few times before, 2014 is the 75th Anniversary of the Dark Knight, and plans are well underway on the comics, animated and video game sides of the DC Universe. There’s even a TV show hitting FOX in the Fall that will tangentially involve a young Batman at the beginning of his journey.

But on the silver screen, where Batman has raked in box office cash for decades: nothing.

Yes, we have Ben Affleck filming his role in “Superman vs. Batman” starting in May; and presumably, he’ll also have a role in “Justice League.”

But given Christopher Nolan’s two most recent Batman movies are number seven and number four on the domestic box office list for all time, you’d think Warner Bros. would have a little more fire to spin out a Batman solo film.

There are a few possibilities here as to why we don’t have a comprehensive Batfleck plan, all of which are entirely plausible and completely uninformed (other than by history):

1. These Are All Batman Movies
With relative unknowns like Gal Gadot and Henry Cavill filling out the Justice League roster, Ben Affleck stands out as easily the most well-known and most bankable star on the cast. It’s possible other ...

Watch The 1975 Bleed All Over The Place In The ‘Robbers’ Video

Bonnie and Clyde. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Matthew Healy and… whatever this woman’s name is. The 1975 are aiming to go down in the annals of crime-duo history in their new video for “Robbers,” off of their self-titled debut.

“I got really obsessed with the idea behind Patricia Arquette’s character in ‘True Romance’ when I was about 18,” Healy said of the video’s origins.

“That craving for the bad boy in that film, it’s so sexualized,” he added. “It was something I was obsessed with. ‘Robbers’ is about a heist that goes wrong — I suppose you can read it as a metaphor — and a girl who’s obsessed with her professional killer boyfriend. It’s a romantic ideal.”

Yup. Love is, indeed, a battlefield. Check it out.

‘Game Of Thrones’: All The Biggest Moments On ‘Oathkeeper’

What this week’s episode of “Game of Thrones” lacked in controversial scenes, it made up for in insane twists that even readers of the book couldn’t see coming. Because they haven’t happened yet. OMGWTFBBQ.

Here’s everything you missed on “Oathkeeper”:

Kill Your Masters
Some people suggest you kill your darlings. In Meereen, where they only speak, I want to say, Meereenese, they instead write “Kill The Masters” on the wall, in English, in what might be blood. This is the one and only warning the slave-owners get before Daenerys’ forces completely over-run the city.

Still, it’s not all sunshine and an uncomfortable walk over broken slave-collars. Dany decides to get revenge on the masters for crucifying kids a few episodes back, by crucifying them. Barristan Selmy cautions that injustice can be dealt with, with mercy; but Dany has gone full on Zod standing in front of her dark banner at the top of Meereen.

Is she headed down a bad, bad, road? We don’t want to cast judgment, but it is a road paved with slave-masters nailed to signposts, so there is that.

Love ‘Em Or Lannister ‘Em
Oh, those loveable Lannisters. Jaime may be getting better at fighting, but Bronn can still smack Jaime down with his own hand.

Tyrion isn’t much better off, telling Jaime about his upcoming trial for the murder of Joffrey, “I know that one of my judges has wished me dead more times than I could count. And that judge is my father.”

And Cersei is going slowly mad. I’ll mention that this scene is pretty consistent with the books, but takes ...
