Nat & Alex Wolff Are All Cats, Beards, And Feelings On These Brand-New Songs: Listen Now!

by 10 mins ago

Nat and Alex Wolff are on emotional overdrive on their new singles, “Where I’m Goin’” and “Rock Star” — and we’ve got the exclusive preview of all the pathos right here on MTV News and at Nat&AlexWolff.mtv.com.

The brothers (formerly of “The Naked Brothers Band”) have been releasing a cadre of folksy, borderline story-songs for the last few months now, previously dropping a duo of tracks on MTV News around the same time as “The Fault In Our Stars” came out — a movie that just happens to star Nat.

“We’ve gotten older since then,” Nat told MTV News, reflecting on their three years of growth since 2011′s Black Sheep. “Alex’s voice has changed… and our songwriting has gotten better. Alex has a beard which changes our sound, I don’t know why.”

There is a certain world-weariness to the brothers’ newest songs. “Where I’m Goin’” hints at a kind of bittersweet relationship replete with “shoulder pads and whiskey stains” and “the cats you love that I despise,” but the chorus is rallying, a nostalgia-inducing assertion: “Where I’m goin/ Where I’m goin/ Well, I don’t know yet/ I just know that I’m going home/ All I know is I’m going home.”

And “Rock Star” — which appears in James Franco’s “Palo Alto,” in which Nat stars as a manic bad boy — speaks to a certain bone-deep dissatisfaction. “She turns to me and she whispers, ‘Hey man ...

Brian Williams Loves It When His Newscasts Turn Into Raps

by 18 mins ago

Jimmy Fallon has come up with plenty of hilarious bits on “The Tonight Show,” but few rival Brian Williams rapping classic hip-hop hits. Thanks to some impressive editing, the show has given us the “Nightly News” anchor rapping favorites like “Gin and Juice,” “Rapper’s Delight” and “Baby Got Back.” And Williams admits that he loves them just as much as the Internet does (which is a lot).

“They’ve been amazing,” the broadcast veteran said during a recent Q&A on Facebook. “Never before have so many words been re-purposed so outside their original meaning. We have interviewed the profoundly talented video editor and will put it on the web before long.”

Williams also weighed in on one of rap’s great debates: Biggie vs. 2Pac.

“I don’t want to stir up trouble with Big’s existing crew,” he said, “but The Pac has been my guy.”

He likes him so much, he’s even given him his own nickname. And this, from an East Coast guy, no less.

Watch This Clumsy Baby Elephant Get Rescued By His Protective Mother

by 16 mins ago

Well, the cutest baby animal fail to ever happen to the Internet has arrived: look at this tiny elephant! Look at this wee, adorable little guy fall, only to be rescued shortly thereafter by his parents. This is just the cutest thing!

That poor, little, intrepid baby ‘phant: all he wanted was to make it up that hill, regardless of the odds (and other, far easier ways in which he could’ve done it) stacked against success. Have no fear, the bonds between baby and mother elephant withstand spectators, zoos and more. He seems a little embarrassed after, but his mother lets him shelter from the crowd under her enormous legs.

We won’t say any more, lest we run the risk of ruining it for you. But rest assured, elephants are great parents. They way they run to the rescue here is very touching.

Aww, it looks like this lil wannabe Dumbo got himself well and spooked by his misadventure! Would it make him feel better to know that he just slayed the hearts of at least a thousand Internet folk?

This Hiker Stumbled Upon A 100-Year-Old Abandoned Town Inside A National Park

by 28 mins ago

Regardless of how small the Internet sometimes makes the world feel, reality is quick to remind us of its enormity: like with this 100-year-old abandoned town, which a hiker recently re-discovered within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee.

Few things are cooler than seeing the true power of nature, particularly when it wins battles against what we humans have done since we started turning everything into stuff for us. And hiker/abandoned place enthusiast Jordan Liles got a first-hand look at such business when he was hiking in the Elkmont section of the park, taking an old, unused road to a hidden gem: the disintegrating remains of the town and subsequent hotel that brought visitors to the now-abandoned area.

The town of Elkmont began as a lumber outpost, harvesting trees and transporting them down the Little River to mill the trees over in neighboring Townsend. The Little River Railroad Company — the folks that did the log transporting after the waterways method was axed — brought logging operations employees to the town and resulted in the construction of a fancy hotel and rich folk summer houses. There was even a section of the town called “Millionaires’ Row.”

But once the railroad skipped town, well, so did all the people. The Wonderland Hotel ran what was left of the place as a resort until it was purchased in the 1930′s by the New Smoky Mountain National Park, but the town itself vanished long before.

This Is What It’s Really Like To Film A Hollywood Sex Scene

by 8 mins ago

Alright, prepare yourselves for the ultimate in second-hand gawking: we’ve got a behind-the-scenes video of a sex scene.

Here, at long last, is a look at how Hollywood makes the dirty deed look au natural on screen. Between the pretending, the intimacy, the natural and sometimes unavoidable bodily reactions to pretending to rock each other’s worlds, there is little doubt in our minds that getting intimate with a relative stranger (or someone who isn’t your current paramour) has infinite potential for total awkwardness.

When you’ve gathered a whole movie crew, a bevy of cameras, and a few pages of orgasms into one room for, uh, completion, the most important thing is to keep it light, keep it funky, and just lean into the moment’s absurdities — just like Brooklyn Decker and Patrick Wilson here!

The duo get a little bit of on-screen action time while shooting the Joe Carnahan-directed movie “Stretch.” What’s sexier than getting sprayed down with an aerosol can??

Harry Styles Has A New Hybrid Man Bun And We Can’t Look Away

by 31 mins ago

Say it ain’t so!

Are Harry Styles’ signature curls gone for good? Probably not, but that didn’t stop Harry from sharing another fresh look with the world courtesy of the instagram account of lavender-maned hair stylist Lou Teasdale.

Described as “her male grooming skillz,” Lou gave Harry a unique half-man bun, half-cornrow style that has us intrigued. She joked about the look on Twitter:

And yes, on anyone else, this look would be questionable, but Harry pulls it off with the same effortless cool he’s known for again and again.

It was only recently that Harry adopted the man bun, a seriously sexy style that only the most confident of men can sport. And despite what Lily Allen might think, we love the many ways Harry can rock his long, luscious locks.

What do you think? Are you a fan of Harry’s new look?

‘Gone Girl’ Disappears With $38 Million And The Top Box Office Spot

by 7 mins ago

Well, not that this news is likely to be a surprise to anyone, but: “Gone Girl” has disappeared (in plain sight!) with all of our movie-going dollars this weekend, taking the top spot at the box office.

The impressive little thriller number from David Fincher and novelist Gillian Flynn did gangbusters with pretty much everyone over the age of 25 (in fact, the mid-twenties-and-beyond set made up 75% of the audience: not something a lot of films do anymore, to be frank) and brought in bountiful accolades for its stars Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, and Carrie Coon.

Perhaps more surprising, though, was second place — and namely how “Gone Girl” was not the landslide-y winner of the weekend. That’s right, the number two film, horror film/”The Conjuring” prequel, “Annabelle” came in second, but just barely: it took home $37.2 million dollars compared to the $38 million of “Gone Girl.” Turns out this world loves two things: Fincher thrillers and creepy dolls.

Related: 8 Things You Need To Know About ‘Gone Girl’

But it’s also a big ol’ celebration for Fincher, who can officially name the film his biggest-debut-getting film of all: easily beating out 2002′s “Panic Room,” which opened with $30 million. Overall, both of these films out-performed people’s expectations, which is always a thing Hollywood executive-types like to hear. Basically, if you were an adult who enjoyed movies, you went to see some cinema ...

Michael Phelps Checks Himself Into Rehab After Second DUI

by 14 mins ago

We’re rooting for you, Michael!

After a tumultuous week that saw the best Olympian of all time arrested for his second charge of D.U.I., Michael Phelps took to his public Facebook page and his twitter to announce that he will enter a program to “provide the help I need to better understand myself.”

Phelps was arrested early on Tuesday morning (September 30) after driving 84mph in a 45mph zone, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority.

According to a report from NBC taken from the MTA, “He “appeared to be under the influence,” and was unable to perform standard field sobriety tests.” Phelps had a blood alcohol level of .14%, well above the Maryland legal limit of .08%.

In 2004, Phelps was sentenced to 18 months of probation stemming from a guilty plea over a drunk driving charge after the 2004 Athens Olympics.

The road to recovery is an ongoing process and one that can’t be solved quickly. Phelps was able to recover from his first charge and we hope he can do it again. Get better, Michael!

Of Course North West Has Customized Kim And Kanye Dolls

by 1 min ago

Kanye and Kim Kardashian are doing their part to maintain their status as #WORLDSMOSTTALKEDABOUTCOUPLE, but in the meantime, their daughter North West is quickly becoming the world’s most talked about baby.

From getting her own front row seat during Paris Fashion Week, to her recent CR Fashion Book spread, North has been doing a lot of grown up stuff lately.

But don’t worry, she’s still a baby and therefore, still plays with dolls. But of course, since it is Nori we’re talking about here, she plays with dolls made to look like her own parents. Yup, Nori has custom Kimye dolls and they’re freakin’ adorable.

The Brooklyn-based company Celine Dolls has apparently made miniature versions of the entire family, complete with their IRL accessories.

Kim’s sister Khloe first posted the Instagram picture of the cloth dolls a few days ago:

And then the company Instagrammed the dolls too, in response to what must have been a slew of inquiry!

The company captioned the picture with more information: “Since @khloekardashian ‘s post, people have asked a few things: Mini Kanye is wearing a faux mink vest and slightly shiny distressed faux leather pants. And yes, Mini Kim has hips!”

And the Kanye doll even has his Red Octobers:

Icing on the cake? There’s also a doll of North herself:

Want to order your own custom dolls? Or maybe get your own mini Kim and Kanye? Go here to the doll maker’s website for more info! Honestly, I would love ...
