Ain’t no one going to rain on Jordin Sparks’ parade. The actress/singer — who recently broke up with her fiancé, Jason Derulo, has been steppin’ out on the town in spite of the three-year-long relationship’s demise.

After all, she’s got a new movie to promote so it’s back to work! “Left Behind,” which premiered at the Catalina Film Festival on Friday (September 26). Sparks brought her buddy Lance Bass, prom-style, to the fête, and captured the whole thing on Instagram.

Sparks has previously used social media to let the world know there are no tears on her end, simply the memory of the good thing she and Derulo had, indicating the split was in the very least amicable. Quoting the old adage, Sparks reminded herself, and the world not to “cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”

It’s the sort of positive attitude one must take in the wake of a break-up sometimes. And thankfully, Sparks is allowing herself to have a little fun and not dwell on the past.

Girl’s not wasting any time or resting on her laurels in any regard, even posting a photo of herself in the studio. As she said previously on Twitter, “write, sing, repeat.” Get those emotions out via song, girl!

As for Derulo, he’s staying a bit more reserved, Instagramming a photo of his statement to a news outlet in Minneapolis:

And now the Scottish wonder is back after nearly a three year delay since the Satin Panthers EP with Chimes, a new EP set for release this Tuesday (September 30) on Warp Records.

You might be familiar with “Chimes,” the title track blowing up your television airwaves in Apple TV ad.

Led Zeppelin‘s founding member and frontman Robert Plant has a brand new band—the Sensational Space Shifters—and they kicked off their tour in New York to kick off their tour, so Plant found the time to visit Jimmy Fallon while he was in town.

On Friday night’s episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” (September 26), Fallon suggested the two use a looping app on an iPad to record some sweet tunes together, and the results were surprisingly beautiful.

Is it just me or does Jimmy look a little nervous to sing alongside the rock icon? Luckily, Questlove gives them a starting note to get the right key.

Then we find out why Jimmy looked so focused—he’s actually good! He holds his own alongside Robert with barely a flubbed note and the resulting four part rendition of “Duke Of Earl” that the two create is a gorgeous, emotional rendition of the doo-wop classic. But I’m gonna go ahead and give The Roots a little credit for that fact too.

The best part though is when Plant feigns confusion at the looping software when the vocals continue after he stops singing. As soon as he hits that melody line though, it’s breathtaking. There are few singers who are as legendary as Robert Plant, even when he’s just having fun on a talk show.

CENTRAL PARK, New York — Jay Z. Beyonce. No Doubt. Sting. Carrie Underwood. fun. The Roots. Alicia Keys. Tiesto.

All of these artists could probably command triple digits for a ticket to see them play live alone. And together? Better start saving.

But on Saturday, they all performed together — and it was free to get in.

Why?

The Global Citizen Festival.

The third annual event was put on with the goal of erasing extreme poverty by 2030. That sounds like a tall task, sure, but that’s why the organization has enlisted so many big names — both to help raise awareness about the issue, and to put pressure on world leaders to do their part in eradicating that poverty.

All of the acts performed for free, and of the 60,000 attendees, the vast majority got their tickets for free, though some bought VIP entrance. Those who didn’t could earn their way in by committing to “take action” which allowed them to “earn points” they could put towards entry.

The many performances throughout the day-long festival were bridged together by short spiels and speeches by celebrities and world leaders. Celebs like Hugh Jackman, Jessica Alba and Olivia Wilde plus political leaders like United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and President Barack Obama (who actually recorded a video message) were on hand to highlight some of the facts and help announce steps towards solutions.
