Beyoncé is 33 today! In honor of the Queen turning the double 3s, MTV News enlisted resident psychic Licorice Root to take a peek at Bey’s year ahead. New tunes? New baby? New bling? Licorice Root cast her eyes to the stars to see what’s ahead for this heavenly body:

Happy Birthday to one perfect Virgo: Beyoncé! This year stands to be her very best yet with Jupiter, the planet of good fortune and growth, strolling through the very top of her natal chart, bringing her to new heights of fame and glory.

Guess when the last time this lineup occurred in this diva’s natal chart? Twelve years ago, way back in 2002, when she and Jay Z came out as couple of lovebirds, releasing the single “’03 Bonnie and Clyde.”

No doubt this lady married for love; however, who could argue that pairing up with rap’s foremost player when you’re already a formidable feature in music did anything but increase her fame?

Well, here we are 12 years later, and it’s very likely that history will repeat itself, with Beyoncé drawing more fame, affection and attention toward herself.

But, it won’t be all rainbows and lollipops — aesthetically speaking at least. Saturn, who is often associated with melancholia, doom and gloom is cozying up to Beyoncé’s intense, mysterious and fierce Scorpio Moon. Goth Beyoncé? I’m excited!

This combination of cosmic forces also suggests she’s being for-serious in all her endeavors and committing to major long-term lifestyle choices.

Taylor Swift wrote an inspiring Instagram comment encouraging a teenage girl not let bullying bother her and be herself. “Every time someone picks on me, I’ll think of you in the hopes that every time someone picks on you, you’ll think of me… and how we have this thread that connects us. Let them keep living in the darkness and we’ll keep walking in the sunlight,” she told her fan. Way to pull on the heartstrings Taylor.

If there were any doubts about the powerful, jaw-dropping VMA performance that Beyoncé bestowed upon us this year, we now have the numbers to back it all up.

Billboard reports that post-VMAs, sales of King B’s self-titled fifth album have risen by a whopping 181 percent—from 6,000 copies to 16,000 in a mere week.

As for the individual songs that Bey performed during her extended medley, they saw an increase as well, with a 155 percent jump from 49,000 to 126,000.

And Beyoncé wasn’t the only one to see a boost from the award show—overall music sales from VMA-related artists were up by 41 percent, which Billboard notes is fairly high.

Sam Smith was another big gainer from the host of musicians who were featured on the show. His debut album In The Lonely Hour had a gain of 24 percent, with 30,000 sales for the week up from 24,000.

Considering how much Sam loves Beyoncé, could this correlation be the work of the Illuminati, who some people still think coordinated the entire VMAs? Guess we’ll never know.

One thing is for sure, we’re not going to be forgetting Beyoncé’s performance anytime soon. In fact, let’s watch it again, shall we?

Starting Wednesday night (September 3), Machine Gun Kelly is going to be on the road until the end of October — much of it with Limp Bizkit by his side. And before he went out to see his fans for that two-month trek on the No Class tour, Kells treated them to some new music this afternoon.

On “Wanna Ball,” over airy production from Pro Logic, MGK looks back on his grind — all the way back to his pre-rap days — and promises, “we ain’t mopping no more floors, biatch.”

Later, in the second verse, he goes more in depth about his early days: “Didn’t have a rap name, I was just hopeful/ Paid for my first studio session with quarters, we ain’t even have enough money to cut vocals.”

At least, that’s what readers will find out when the publisher releases “Gotham Academy” by writers Brenden Fletcher and Becky Cloonan, with art by Karl Kerschl, a look inside the elite prep school just across town from Arkham Asylum.

But what about the students that go there? Sure, you’ll get visits from “that weirdo” Bruce Wayne, but there’s a whole new cast of kids who need to learn why we fall – and MTV News is pleased to exclusively reveal your first look at the character one-sheets that will introduce us to the class of GA.

WELCOME TO GOTHAM ACADEMY! Gotham City’s most prestigious prep school is a very weird place. It’s got a spooky campus, oddball teachers, and rich benefactors always dropping by…like that weirdo Bruce Wayne. But nothing is as strange is the students!

Like, what’s up with Olive Silverlock? Is she crazy or what? Where did she go last summer? And what’s the deal ...

When I saw the cover art for Alex Wiley’s mixtape Village Party a couple months back, I was struck by the image. It’s a realistic depiction of the rapper — but not so much so that it looked like a photo. The colors, shading, texture and details all gave it a life of its own.

I did a little digging and found out that the artist behind the cover was Will Prince, a 22-year-old U.K. native with a knack for drawing some eye-catching pictures of your favorite rappers.

And he’s caught the attention of some of those very artists, including Chance the Rapper on Facebook, Rick Ross on Instagram and Kid Cudi back in the MySpace days. Meanwhile, others, like Action Bronson and Asher Roth, have gone even further, enlisting his talents to create cover art for recent projects.

“Hip-hop is a huge part of my life; I live on it, so I guess, subconsciously, I brought my two passions together,” Prince told MTV News. “As a kid, I was more into cartoons and kid sh–, so I was drawing Batman, Dragon Ball Z characters and making my own comics books. If you scroll through my Tumblr you’ll notice I also make a lot of pop art-influenced pieces, very seductive and erotic. I love women like I love hip-hop, so I brought those two passions together, too.”

Two new Kendrick Lamar verses in one week? Uhh, yeah, sure. Sounds alright to me.

First, we got his bars on Flying Lotus’ “Never Catch Me,” and later on Wednesday (September 3), K. Dot showed up on the remix to Jeezy’s “Holy Ghost,” from the Atlanta rapper’s Seen It All album.

As usual, the TDE rapper is on a lyrical warpath, hopping on the Don Cannon and Frank Dukes-produced beat and doing what he does best.

Jeezy’s new album, Seen It All, dropped Tuesday, but in the week leading up to its release, talk about the Atlanta rap star was more focused on his recent arrest and when he would post bail, instead of the music.

“They detained my bus drivers — two of my bus drivers; one was a 50-something year-old lady, [plus] my cameraman,” Jeezy told Power 105.1′s “The Breakfast Club,” speaking for the first time about the incident, which lead to a not guilty plea on weapons charges. In total, six people were arrested.

Not only is the “Me OK” rapper confident that he and his team weren’t in the wrong, but he was focused on everyone sticking together. Which is why he didn’t post bail — set at $1 million — for a few days.

“I’m such a real person and I know we was there in the right,” he said. “I just felt like I couldn’t leave them there. When I stepped in the door, I had bailsmen right there to get me out. And I just made it clear: ‘When I leave, we leaving together.’ Point blank period. You go through things in life, and that’s just what that was. It’s only money. But it was more so about the principle to me. I wasn’t leaving no man behind.”

Miley Cyrus‘ Instagram isn’t all about pigs, puppies and tongues. She has also posted some pretty good — and eclectic — jams.

Sure, we all saw the snaps she posted of Riot Grrrl queen Kathleen Hanna — and Hanna’s response to Miley’s adoration — but the “Adore You” singer has been posting about more than just punk (even though she also digs Richard Hell).

For their first in a series of cyphers, recently launched site RapFest linked Smoke DZA, Prodigy and Houston’s DeLorean to rhyme over a beat from up-and-comer AlistFame.

The three styles fit together surprisingly well over the dark, eery production, as each MC delivers their own brands of self-affirmation and aggressiveness.

Midway through the video, AlistFame speaks on how he created the beat, and what his vision for it was — and, spoiler alert, it sounds like it came to fruition.

Like this initial episode, future cyphers plan to pair lesser-known talent with some established names.
