‘Walking Dead’ Brick Building Sets Help Bring The Zombie Apocalypse Home

by 29 mins ago

As if AMC’s “The Walking Dead” wasn’t big enough, thanks to McFarlane Toys it’s about to invade an entirely new area of your local toy store. Move over, Lego and Kre-O: “Walking Dead” brick building sets are here! Or will be, this October.

The entirely new line of toys will debut at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, eventually hitting stores this Fall. And the concept is a pretty simple one: instead of cartoony figurines and blocky playsets, what if buildable toys looked like high-end collectibles? That’s exactly what Todd McFarlane, owner of McFarlane Toys, was aiming to do when he moved from the specialty shop to a new area of Toys R Us.

“Why can’t the art simply be better and cooler in that aisle?” McFarlane said when MTV News talked to him over the phone.

According to McFarlane, this is the mindset he brought when trying to tackle action figures for brands like “Halo,” sports figures (NBA and MLB), and yes, “Walking Dead.” Now he’s trying to tackle the same problem, but with figures that are a little over an inch tall.

And it seems like he’s solved that problem. The figures and associated sets will all work smoothly with any Legos or other brick brands you have hanging around, but will look decidedly different from the brightly colored worlds of Emmet and friends.

Instead of pirate ships and more kid-friendly landscapes, the “Walking Dead” starting sets will include Daryl Dixon and Chopper, the Governor’s room ...

B.o.B Delivers His ‘Mission Statement’ In New Video

by 6 mins ago

“The music industry is sickening/ But no one’ll ever admit the sh–,” B.o.B raps in the video for “Mission Statement,” released on Monday (July 7). Thankfully, Bobby Ray is here with the antidote.

The Atlanta native clearly has a few things to get off his chest, and he uses this track, off of his upcoming mixtape No Genre Pt. 2, as one way to do that. As he talks to the camera in between his first and second verse — each delivered with frantic energy and precision — B.o.B offers what appears to be part of his mission statement: “You can’t box it in,” he says. “You’ll never be able to describe me.”

We’ll describe this one as dope. How’s that?

In addition to the new visual, over the weekend, the Atlantic Records artist dropped the audio for “Swing My Way,” featuring Sevyn Streeter, which is a remake of the K.P. & Envyi hit “Shorty Swing My Way” from 1998.

Listen below, and check for No Genre Pt. 2 on Wednesday.

CIA Speaks Up On Those Tupac Murder Conspiracy Theories

by 1 hour ago

Nearly 18 years after his death, people are still incredibly curious about the murder of Tupac Shakur. Conspiracy theories abound — with some even suggesting that he isn’t dead after all, but living on a remote island.

But who could have the answers?

Well, we know who doesn’t (or so they claim…): The CIA.

The Central Intelligence Agency clarified that on Monday (July 7), after a series of tweets sent out to celebrate one month of being on the social networking site, where they responded to some of the top questions they’ve been asked in that span.

So, yup, people are still curious and skeptical about what happened to Tupac.

And they still forget their passwords. And the CIA swears they can’t help recover them.

Lil Durk Drops Signed to the Streets 2: Listen Here

by 6 mins ago

Lil Durk is signed to Def Jam, true. But he’s Signed to the Streets 2, and is out to remind everyone with his latest mixtape, which he released on Monday (July 7).

The Chicago native’s latest tape is hosted by DJ Drama and Don Cannon, and features production from Young Chop, Cardo, C-Sick and more, as well as features from French Montana and Migos.

The release should satisfy fans for the time being, but Durk has no plans on slowing down. He has plans to drop his major label debut in 2014, as well — along with a heavy-hitter single to kick things off.

“I’mma put out a single with Chris Brown and French, then I’mma shoot for an album,” Durk recently told HotNewHipHop of his plans for the rest of the year.

Until then, you can stream Signed to the Streets 2.

HAIM Team Up With ASAP Ferg For Banging New Version Of ‘My Song 5′

by 5 mins ago

I’m not going to say we’re psychic over here at MTV News but… We kind of are. Back in October we highlighted HAIM’s rap game status on stand-out track “My Song 5,” off of Days Are Gone, and now the band of sisters has gone and released a new version of the track featuring none other than ASAP Ferg. Nostradamus = Us.

HAIM dropped the collab — which includes a new verse from Ferg — on their Tumblr Monday (July 7) and if it wasn’t already a banger, there’s no denying it now.

Common Finally Admits His ‘War’ With Drake Was Over Serena Williams

by 1 min ago

When Common and Drake threw some shots at one another back in 2011 and early 2012, it seemed to be one of two things — or a combination of them: Com was looking to create some buzz around his new album, The Dreamer/The Believer; and Drake’s association with Common’s ex, Serena Williams, was rubbing him the wrong way.

Now, Common is opening up about the beef.

“For me, I think it was an emotional thing,” the Chicago native told VladTV. “Meaning, I was feeling like, at that time, I think it was the Drake-Serena situation — I ain’t know what was going on with that. And I ain’t know if he was throwing things, shots at me. You know, this my ex, and we kinda, you know, going our separate ways. Unfortunately, the war might have been over a girl, even though at the time I never said that.”

“But it wasn’t totally that,” he added. “It was more or less kind of like, man, do you respect me? ‘Cause I actually like you as an artist; that’s what I was thinking about Drake. Then it eventually became where I think he was like, Look, man, I feel you disrespecting me, too.”

Eventually, the two crossed paths, talked it out like adults, and put their issues in the past. They even partied together.

“I look back on it and say I’m glad it never escalated to a physical thing,” Common, who will be dropping his new album, Nobody’s Smiling, ...

Ariana Grande Seriously Nerds Out With ‘Star Wars’-Themed ‘Break Free’ Lyric Video

by 26 mins ago

Like mother, like daughter — Ariana Grande‘s new lyric video for “Break Free” is “Star Wars”-themed, and we’re guessing her mom, Joan, is pretty stoked right now.

Grande dropped the video for the dance-y, Zedd-featuring track Tuesday (July 7) — off of upcoming record My Everything — and those of you who haven’t being slumbering under a stone for the last 30+ years will immediately recognize the scrolling text over the star-studded background as a crib on the opening sequence of the sci-fi classic.

Grande is no stranger to the film (I mean, who really is?) — last month, she posted a video of her mom going on a seriously inside-baseball rant about “Star Wars” to Instagram. She’s also said that “Break Free” was inspired by likes of campy sci-fi film “Barbarella.”

Dare we say it…? Nerd alert!

Check out the video above and her live debut of the jam on “Total Ariana Live” below:

Jennifer Lawrence Can’t Play Nice With Emma Watson In Epic Photobomb

by 1 min ago

Jennifer Lawrence is taking her photo-crashing game from “bomb” to “palm” in some new snaps from the Christian Dior Haute Couture show in Paris Monday (July 7).

Apparently, the “Hunger Games” star hit up the show with Emma Watson during Paris Fashion Week today and posed all nice and pretty for a slew of photos — until Lawrence, like a cat, got bored and batted Watson in the face.

Looks like the “Harry Potter” actress could file some sort of class-action suit with Taylor Swift at this point charging Lawrence with Grand Photo Messer-upper-rey. (That’s a thing, I promise.) Lawrence famously monster-faced her way into an otherwise gorgeous snap of Swift at the “Golden Globes.”

Never change, J-Law — and please steer clear of our selfies.

Did Ja Rule Really Beat Up 50 Cent? ‘Abso-fu–in-lutely’

by 26 mins ago

This isn’t the first time Ja Rule has told the story of when he beat up 50 Cent, but it might be the most animated.

In an interview with “Ebro in the Morning” on Hot 97, which aired Monday (July 7), Ja recounts a day, over a decade ago, when he says he handed Fif a beatdown in Atlanta.

“We get to talking, and the talk got heated because I got mad, and I start screaming at him and telling him that he was a bitch and this that and the third,” the Queens native recalled, telling a story he highlights in his new book, “Unruly: The Highs and Lows of Becoming a Man.”

“And so he swings at me. He caught me a little bit, but I dipped it. And then hit him with the bat.”

It didn’t end there, of course.

Ja says when he got back to New York, he heard that his rival had been saying that he knocked him out and took his chain. That’s not the way it went, though, the rapper insists.

But he’s not out to reignite the past or cause further issues. “I wrote a book about my life, I had to put the story in the book,” he said.

There’s also the time he tried to shed light on a restraining order 50 took out on him, but says he was brushed aside.

“I remember a moment of bringing paperwork up to Hot 97 that had 50′s name — what’s the other dude’s name ...

Marvel To Unveil A New ‘Captain America’

by 26 mins ago

Move over, Captain America: here comes… a new Captain America?

As just revealed by Marvel Comics, the publisher will be replacing Steve Rogers (played on screen by Chris Evans) with a new character in the uniform, starting this Fall in “Captain America #25.”

In the storyline, Cap has lost the super-soldier serum that kept him young, reducing him to a feeble, 90-year-old man with a keen strategic mind. Stepping into a supervisory role, Cap will choose someone else to wear the stars and stripes, though Marvel isn’t prepared to say exactly who yet.

Captain America 25 coverMarvel Comics

“There are a number of changes that happen with the new Captain America that allow me to write and tell stories from a perspective that’s quite different from a WWII soldier and a child of the Great Depression,” writer Rick Remender told Marvel.com. “It offers up a lot of new opportunities and a lot of new drama as well as getting to tell Captain America stories with an entirely different character, a character I have a real affinity for and like to write. I think the fans will dig what we’ve got coming up.”

Smart money has put the new guy in the costume as Sam Wilson, a.k.a. The Falcon. Played on-screen by Anthony Mackie, a figure many fans think is Cap’s sometimes sidekick showed up on a recent cover of the “Avengers” comic in a glimpse towards the future, holding Cap’s signature shield. He’s also been ...
