Battle At The Bank: See Pics Of The New Harry Potter Gringotts Ride

Step aside, other roller coasters, because this may just be the most magical ride yet.

As all wizarding wannabes know, Universal’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, Florida has announced plans for a major expansion. Today, we got some juicy details, including concept art, for Harry Potter and the Escape From Gringotts, the ride that will be the park’s new featured attraction.

As the name implies, the ride centers around the goblin-run wizarding bank in Diagon Alley, but it promises to be an enchanted bucket more fun than standing in line waiting for the next available teller. As usual, the details on the ride appear to be immaculate and in line with the expectations of devoted fans of the Harry Potter universe.

For example, the carriage for the ride mimics that creaky, antiqued carts that Harry and his pals ride through the underbelly of Gringotts:

Lifelike goblin tellers will be present, of course:

There’s no other way to say it: The Gringotts Bank that you’ll actually be able to walk into and enjoy looks just ridiculously cool.

The plot of the ride seems as if it will be adapted from the episode in the final book in the Harry Potter series, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.”

In the book, Harry, Ron and Hermione break into Gringotts, a supposedly impossible feat, to steal a VIMO (Very important Magical Object).

In a press release, Universal touted the fact that visitors will not only get to tour the bank and experience the gut-wrenching twists and turns of the tunnels running underneath, but there will be a 60-foot dragon atop the bank. The ride will also involve a face-off with Bellatrix Lestrange (start practicing your Mrs. Weasley battle cries now) and even a run-in with You Know Who. Spooky.

The grand opening date for the ride has yet to be announced, but you can bet that we’re on the hunt for a time turner to hop forward and just ride the darn thing already.
