Former President Bill Clinton is coming to Logo TV.
In celebration of the one-year anniversary of the defeat of the Defense of Marriage Act, Clinton will honor Edie Windsor and Roberta Kaplan — two of the catalysts behind last year’s overruling — during Logo TV’s inaugural Trailblazers event and television special, airing Thursday (June 26) at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
“Seventeen years after signing DOMA into law, I was honored and grateful to be among the voices urging that it be overturned,” Clinton said in a statement. “The decision would not have happened without Edie Windsor’s dogged determination to right a wrong and Roberta Kaplan’s equal commitment to simple fairness. As marriage equality spreads across the states, the number of people impacted by these two amazing women will only continue to grow.”
In addition, Lance Bass will make an appearance to honor Brooklyn Nets player Jason Collins for becoming the first publicly gay male athlete in a major American sport.
And Demi Lovato will honor the cast of “Orange is the New Black” for bringing the lives and stories of characters rarely seen on television into millions of living rooms around the country. Danielle Brooks (Taystee), Laverne Cox (Sophia), Lea DeLaria (Big Boo), Taryn Manning (Pennsatucky) and Samira Wiley (Poussey) will all be on hand to accept the award.
The event will feature also presenter Daniel Radcliffe, who is a longtime supporter of The Trevor Project, a performance from A Great Big World and special appearances from Tegan and Sara, Ed Sheeran, Jared Leto, Kylie Minogue, Ariana Grande, Rita Ora, Iggy Azalea, Tyler Glenn (Neon Trees) and Mary Lambert.
