Britney Spears Counts Down To ‘All Eyes On Me’… But What Is It?

Mark it on your calendars, Britney Spears has big things planned for September 17. The singer launched a countdown clock on her official website this week, leading fans to speculate that something major is about to happen.

The message on her site simply reads, “All Eyes On Me,” giving no real indication of what the pop superstar might have up her sleeve. However, she has been working on her follow-up album to 2011’s Femme Fatale, and over the course of the last week has teased that something big is on the horizon. So, it’s possible the news is music-related.

On August 14, she tweeted, “Patient kiddies! It’s coming MUCH sooner than you think ;)” and then one day later she added, “Spending some Q T in rehearsals today. 8 count after 8 count… #FeelingIt.”

Earlier this month, she tweeted out a for this album release, which includes A-list help from producers and songwriters including William Orbit, Sia, Hit-Boy and will.i.am.

“We need to talk about what she’s excited about in life. I gotta talk about the things that hurt her. I gotta talk about the things that make her concerned; she’s a mother,” will.i.am told Rolling Stone earlier this spring of working with Spears. “I gotta talk to her about all the things that her fans want to talk to her about. I gotta be the vehicle between her and her fans. We can’t do another song about going on the dance floor. Really? Didn’t we see a bunch of Britney doing that already? Don’t we want to see something that comes from her heart?”

While little else is really known about this eighth album, billed as her “most personal album ever,” she did give fans a taste of new music when she dropped her “Smurfs 2” soundtrack song,

In addition to her own upcoming album and Las Vegas residency, Spears is rumored to appear on Miley Cyrus’ October 8 album release, Bangerz.

Speaking of Cyrus, the VMA-nominated “We Can’t Stop” singer will take the stage at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday, August 25. The show goes live from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
