This Might Be Daisy Ridley’s ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ Costume

by 6 mins ago

J.J. Abrams has been surprisingly forthcoming with juicy “Star Wars: Episode VII” tidbits since he started filming the anticipated sequel. He’s given us our first look at an X-Wing, and we’ve been able to get some glimpses of the Millennium Falcon, along with a few other clues.

But there is still plenty we don’t know about the new movie, including who the new castmembers will play.

Well, we finally might have gotten a big clue, in the form of some unofficial sketches.

Slashfilm reported that the site Making Star Wars was allowed to see concept art for Daisy Ridley’s character, but weren’t allowed to share them. So they did what anyone would do in that situation: they sketched a copy themselves, and shared that.

Bounty Hunter Ridley

Bounty Hunter Ridley With Descriptions

Flightsuit Ridley

The pictures tell a few different stories and support multiple fan theories. The first one looks very reminiscent of Leia’s Boushh bounty hunter costume from “Return of the Jedi,” without the mask. Is she getting some fashion tips from her mother? If Leia is, in fact, her mother?

But the last picture, with Ridley in a flight suit, looks a lot like Luke in his flight suit. Intriguing.

For all we know, she’s dressing like a bounty hunter to avenge her dad, Boba Fett.

Who do you think Ridley plays in the movie, and what do you think of her hypothetical costume?

Jennifer Lawrence Loves And Lies With Bradley Cooper In The ‘Serena’ Trailer

by 12 mins ago

You’ve seen the story of Pat and Tiffany. But what about George and Serena?

In 2012, Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper collaborated on “Silver Linings Playbook,” the David O. Russell drama that earned Lawrence her first Academy Award. That same year, Lawrence and Cooper teamed together for a lesser-known project: “Serena,” a period piece set in North Carolina during the Great Depression, following husband and wife George and Serena Pemberton’s efforts to survive and thrive in a crumbling world.

After years on the shelf, the Susanne Bier-directed drama has resurfaced with a brand new trailer, via The Film Stage. Check it out:

There’s no U.S. release date yet for “Serena,” but it’s due out in the U.K. on October 24.

What do you think of the first “Serena” trailer?

Tweets Of The Week: Yes, That Was A Real ‘Wolf’ Tearing Kate Argent To Shreds

by 11 mins ago

These days, your Twitter timeline says as much about you as your taste in movies or fashion sense, and ours is chock full o’ MTV greatness. Between the intriguing “Teen Wolf” stars and the “Code” jokesters, our network’s cast members always have a ton to share on social media. And each week, we’re rounding up the posts that had us RTing like crazy. Check out the latest!

So the werewolves of Beacon Hills might not be, you know, real, but there was nothing artificial about the wolf who tore Kate Argent apart during Monday night’s “Teen Wolfseason finale.

Actress Jill Wagner, who plays the sociopathic werejaguar, posted an Instagram video this week that captures one of nature’s most beautiful beasts strolling around set, and it is NOT MESSING AROUND. “Yes, it was a real wolf,” she assured her followers. Let’s hope that leash was as strong as it looks.

Meanwhile on Twitter, Apple’s new-age technology had DJ Pauly D completely captivated, but Molly Tarlov of “Awkward” aimed to prove she was as basic as they come. And though Snooki was thrilled at all the possibilities for 2014 Halloween pictures, “Teen Mom 2” castie Chelsea Houska‘s penchant for photo-taking didn’t go over so well.

See what some of your favorite MTV stars and cast members had to say on social media this week below!

‘Star Wars’ Without John Williams Is Awkward Silence Shattered By Wookie Screams

by 4 mins ago

If you ever needed proof that the one saving grace of the “Star Wars” medal ceremony scene was John Williams’ soaring, celebratory score, then “Star Wars Minus Williams” is an Exhibit A that requires no Exhibit B.

Comedy group the Auralnauts posted this music-free version of the scene on their YouTube channel, where the pomp and circumstance of Williams’ music is replaced by ambient shuffling, the occasional stifled cough, and a couple moments of colorful commentary by Chewbacca. The result? To paraphrase George Orwell: If you want a vision of cringe-inducing awkwardness, imagine a Wookie screaming in a silent, crowded room, forever.

James McAvoy Will Shave The Day (And His Hair) In Next ‘X-Men’ Movie

by 45 mins ago

In a little less than two years, “X-Men: Apocalypse” will arrive, bringing us our next adventure featuring James McAvoy‘s Charles Xavier and Michael Fassbender‘s Magneto. But even now, we already know about one of the film’s most major casualties: Xavier’s hair.

Speaking with the Huffington Post, McAvoy made the tragic revelation about “Apocalypse”: “I think I’m losing my hair, finally.”

Frankly, Xavier losing his hair certainly took long enough. In “X-Men: First Class,” McAvoy’s Xavier was out of his wheelchair for nearly the entire film, until suffering a crippling gunshot wound in the final climactic scene. Throughout this past year’s “Days of Future Past,” Xavier was able to walk around thanks to a power-suppressant; not only that, he grew his hair out to 1970s appropriate hippy length.

But based on the sound of things, “Apocalypse” will bring McAvoy’s Xavier closer to the version that fans know from the comics, and from the Patrick Stewart version of the character. Beyond losing his hair and returning to the chair, there’s not much that McAvoy can reveal about the 1980s-set “Apocalypse,” but plenty that he can speculate on.

“It feels fairly global, if we’re talking about Apocalypse,” he teased. “Maybe it’s just the character’s name, but I think the nature of the movie is going to be fairly apocalyptic as well.”

“X-Men: Apocalypse” hits theaters on May 27, 2016.

‘Married With Children’ Is Returning, But Will It Be A Full Bundy Reunion?

by 4 mins ago

Love and marriage. Horses and carriages. Classic TV shows and modern day spinoffs.

These are the peanut butter and chocolate of our times, as it appears that every sitcom from the 1980s and 90s is getting an update in some way, shape or form. First, we caught wind of the return of “Full House.” Just last week, we saw the unauthorized “Saved by the Bell” Lifetime movie. Now, add another to the pile: a “Married … With Children” reboot.

E! News reports that Sony Pictures Television is shopping around a pitch for a new “Married … With Children” series, this time focusing on Bud Bundy, the David Faustino character, presumably as a grown-up with marital and parental headaches of his own. No word on which other cast members might be involved, but both Christina Applegate and Katey Sagal weighed in on the rumors of a reunion, during their get-together at the Hollywood Walk of Fame earlier this week.

“We’re going to do something with Dave maybe. I don’t know if it will be in character,” Applegate told E! News. “But I don’t really know. I don’t know what that’s going to be. I don’t know if I’m allowed to speak on that at all. So I should probably stop talking about it right now!”

“We’ve talked about [a reunion] every year, but then there are so many pieces that have to be in alignment that for some reason it never happens,” added Sagal. “But we love each other. ...

See ‘The Matrix,’ ‘The Lion King,’ ‘Titanic,’ And Your Other Favorite Movies Recreated With Stock Footage

by 12 mins ago

It’s a testament to the power of iconic movies like “The Matrix,” “Titanic” and “The Lion King” that even without their A-list stars, award-winning effects or their giant Hollywood budgets they are instantly and completely recognizable in this video from the YouTube account of stock footage company Dissolve.

There are 14 movies recreated here using snippets of cleverly-edited stock footage (and a few necessary sound effects), and they’re all great — but the concluding shot for “Arrogant pilots in the danger zone (1986)” takes it to a whole other level.

Chris Pratt Reveals The Secret Origins Of ‘Douchemaster McChest’

by 30 mins ago

Who cares how “Guardians Of The Galaxy” hero Peter Quill became Star-Lord? The real burning question about Chris Pratt is: “who the hell is Douchmaster McChest?”

The previously secret (and let’s be honest, kind of porn-y sounding) alter ego for the “Parks And Recreation” star-turned-box-office-behemoth surfaced on Thursday when Pratt posted a previously unseen snap from very early in his career.

Yes, the former high school wrestler, van sleeper and upcoming “SNL” host wasn’t always the dashingly handsome, chiseled chin galaxy saver that he is now. Frankly, back in 2000, he looked more like a boy band wannabe, or daytime soap opera star. And so, we give you, Mr. McChest, in all his glory.

Often guilty, never convicted. Serving 15 years to life at MTV News.

‘Saturday Night Live’ Puts Michael Che On ‘Weekend Update’

by 2 mins ago

When “Saturday Night Live” returns with its Chris Pratt-hosted season premiere, it’ll feature a new addition to the “Weekend Update” desk.

The New York Times reports that veteran “SNL” cast member Cecily Strong has been replaced on “Weekend Update,” though she’s not leaving the show. In her place: Michael Che, an “SNL” writer since last season, will be joining the “Weekend Update” segment as Colin Jost’s co-anchor.

Saying that “Update” struggled with identity issues following the transition from Seth Meyers to Jost and Strong last season, “SNL” creator Lorne Michaels acknowledged that “it’s always difficult to make changes and make ‘Update’ different from what’s gone before.” But Michaels sounds optimistic given the close friendship Che, a “Daily Show” correspondent, developed with Jost in his time in the writers’ room.

“Michael is a strong writer,” he said, “and he’s really funny.”

You can see how funny Che is for yourself, as he guides you through the gentrification of New York’s Lower East Side neighborhood in this MTV Other sketch:

“Saturday Night Live” returns on September 27.
