Christina Milian And Kelsey Grammer Are Teaming Up For A New Reality Show

by 2 mins ago

What the…? I read some pretty wild and unexpected stories on the Internet every day, but this is definitely one of the most surprising/confusing/strange things I’ve seen in a while.

Christina Milian hasn’t been showing up in terms of musical output recently, but she has appeared on “Dacning With the Stars” and “The Voice,” and now she’s set to star in a brand new E! reality series.

The show will reportedly document her as she balances motherhood with her career and dating, which all sounds normal enough…but Kelsey Grammer will be producing it. That’s “Frasier,” if his government name isn’t familiar to you.

Grammer has produced some cult favorites like “Girlfriends,” but this still seems to be a little out of left field. For now, the show is being called “Christina Milian Turned Up,” and it will premiere in 2015.

Watch Jeremy Lin Terrify People While Pretending To Be A Wax Figure

by 1 min ago

Fact: Wax sculptures are some of the scariest things our society finds socially acceptable. They’re super creepy and definitely look like they belong in morgues, but for some reason, people flock to museums to gawk at them every single day.

Fact: Anyone who’s truly famous has gotten a wax statue made of themselves: Mark Zuckerberg, Lady Gaga, Diddy, Kim Kardashian, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, One Direction…and now Los Angeles Lakers point guard Jeremy Lin is one of the most recent honorees. His statue was recently unveiled at San Francisco’s Madame Tussauds wax museum, and shows him flying toward the basket in his new Lakers getup:

To prove how weirdly lifelike these statues really are, Lin pulled off an amazing stunt where he pretended to be his own statue. It was so convincing that he even fooled his mom and his uncle.

You Won’t Be Able To Afford Pizza Soon

by 3 mins ago

Say goodbye to $1 pizza. Milk is getting more expensive, and that means all dairy products — cheese, baked goods, pastries, everything that you hold near and dear to your heart — will be seeing a price bump.

The U.S. just doesn’t have enough dairy supplies to fulfill the consumers’ demands, Bloomberg reports, leading to a surge in imports…and costs. It may be time to start hoarding and freezing. Who knows, maybe buying an extra refrigerator will soon be less expensive than a box of pie. (OK, probably not, but still.)

In July a gallon of whole milk was a whopping $3.65, the highest price the Bureau of Labor Statistics has seen since 2011. The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that we’ll use up to 93.4 tons of milk this year alone, so yes, that might get a little expensive. You might have to settle for hot dogs — *gasp* — instead of cheesy pizza goodness this football season.

In short: We’re all gonna starve and Asher Roth will need to change his “I can get pizza a dollar a slice” lyric.

Aaand now here’s some pizza gifs to help you get over your loss.

Calvin Harris, Kendrick Lamar And Ellie Goulding Are Headed To The Bermuda Triangle

by 11 mins ago

If you’re looking for a way to make Halloween way creepier, we have great news. The Bermuda Triangle (also known as the Devil’s Triangle) will host a star-studded concert this Halloween weekend, and 1,862 lucky fans will be there to witness it. There are only three artists performing, with three charter jets coming in from three cities, you know, to stick with the triangle theme.

Kendrick Lamar, Ellie Goulding and Calvin Harris will headline what is being called the Bacardi Triangle (hosted by you guessed it– Bacardi), and the audience will be a combination of invited guests and contest winners. The event will go down October 30 to November 2 at a resort in Puerto Rico, but the special show will take place specifically on Palomino Island in the heart of the mysterious Bermuda Triangle.

There are still many questions without answers. How do we get a spot on one of the jets? Why specifically 1,862 people? What precautions are being taken against fans disappearing IN the Bermuda Triangle????

All we know is it should be an epic party, and to keep checking bacarditriangle.com for details.

Jay Z And Beyonce Made Marriage ‘Cool’– And Lecrae Wants To Keep That Trend Alive In Hip-Hop

by 13 mins ago

Are you an Anomaly? On his 7th solo album Lecrae shares his own story, but along the way he’s probably hoping that you’ll learn a bit about yourself as well. The Atlanta-based rapper broke down two of the essential tracks on Anomaly for us and explained what inspired him while recording the project.

With “All I Need is You,” for example, he hopes to promote healthier relationships in hip-hop. But as can probably tell from the title of the album, a lot of this is about walking your own path and doing it bravely.

“The title of the album has been a running thought in my head for a long time because I’ve always been a trans cultural person,” he told MTV News. “My friends are from all from different walks of life, I can exist in conservative circles and liberal circles, I walk in the hip-hop, pop and Christian worlds — I can still be me and be embraced in all of those worlds and that makes me an Anomaly.”

Still, not everyone understands that concept, and that was all the more reason to pour it into an album. “It’s baffling and confusing to some people, and frustrating to other people, but it’s me and I’ve always wrestled with that,” he added. “But I finally came to grips with making an album about it.”

You’ll notice that Anomaly is light on features, and that wasn’t ...

Summer may not be officially over (we know, we know, fall doesn’t technically start until September 23, we know), but it’s time to face the music: the summer movie season is effectively ended.

Yes, we’ve had our fill of this year’s big-budget, warm weather masterpieces, and they’ve certainly had their fill of us, with a whopping 13 titles raking in more than $100 million at the box office between early May (like we said, movie seasons play by different rules than the equinox) and Labor Day weekend.

We’ve gathered all the data you’ll need about the summer’s biggest hits, from box office take, height of the leading dude or lady, and even whether the movie passes the Bechdel Test. Check out the infographic below, created by Amelia Rossi and Natasha Taylor.

How ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Is Making ‘Star Wars’ Better

by 6 mins ago

When Disney bought Lucasfilm, one of the comforting thoughts that fans of the series were often reminded of was that the company also owned Marvel Studios. The fact that the superhero house thrived under Disney in a way that pleased both investors and diehard fans gave a new hope to “Star Wars” fans.

The connection between Marvel’s success and “Star Wars” became clearer when Disney announced plans for annual trips to that galaxy far, far away, and now the studio’s CFO Jay Rasulo has made the link even stronger.

“We are doing what we do for our Disney franchises … with ‘Star Wars,’ and it is mirroring Marvel, but we already know the path, so it’s going to go faster, smoother, with the same goals,” Rasulo said (via The Hollywood Reporter), before mentioning that he hopes to attract more families and females like “Guardians of the Galaxy” did.

Now, Rasulo is coming from the corporate angle, which translates to “$$$,” but fans will hopefully benefit from this kind of talk.

Right now, Marvel Studios is doing something speculator for audiences. They’re making money through a model that rewards fans and respects the comic books. From Disney’s perspective, as long as the latter leads to the former, Marvel Studios is good to do whatever they want.

And we’re already seeing the positive effects from Marvel’s most recent success “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Even though Gamora was underserved by the story, the response from audiences means — hopefully — that going forward, ...

‘Amazing Spider-Man’ Writer Teases ‘Darker’ Spin-Off ‘Venom’

by 14 mins ago

By Charles Webb

As Sony has begun to build their own cinematic universe around Spider-Man, one man has been there through it all as one of its architects: writer and producer Alex Kurtzman. Somewhere between a female-driven spinoff and a potential “Sinister Six” movie, Kurtzman has his own assignment: bringing anti-hero “Venom” to the big screen.

Kurtzman was on hand at the Paley Center For Media’s red carpet premiere for CBS’s “Scorpion” (which he produces) in advance of its premiere September 22 on CBS. While there, MTV News asked the producer about the appeal of Spider-Man’s black-suited enemy.

“The idea,” Kurtzman explained, “is that you can do things with Venom that you can’t do with Spider-Man.”

Making his appearance all the way back in “Amazing Spider-Man” #299 (1986), Venom, for the uninitiated, is disgraced reporter Eddie Brock and the transforming alien costume that bonded with him. Both have a grudge against Peter Parker, and they’re not afraid to terrorize, or kill anyone around him for a little payback. At the same time, Venom/Brock weirdly thinks of himself as a hero, making the occasional jump over to the good guys’ side.

While it’s not currently known whether Brock, Venom’s later identity Flash Thompson, or some third iteration will be featured in the movie, it does seem that the character will share at least some DNA with his comic book counterpart.

“Venom is the representation of every line that will get crossed,” Kurtzman said. “He’s a much darker character.”

When it comes to comparing what ...

President Snow Gives Us The Heebie Jeebies In New ‘The Hunger Games’ Teaser

by 2 mins ago

Just when we were calming ourselves down after seeing that ultra-badass poster of Katniss in full Mockingjay battle dress earlier today, we get yet another surprise from “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.”

We get the very briefest of teases today, along with the announcement that the first full trailer for the movie will hit in just five short days. We’ll just give you a little space to freak out here:

[...]

Done? No? Well, we’re moving on anyway.

In the glimpse of footage we get, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) picks up a white rose — President Snow’s calling card — and looks like she’s had the bejeezus scared out of her. As well she should, because as an unseen Snow (Donald Sutherland) narrates, “It’s the things we love most that destroy us.”

Ahhhhhhhhhh!

We’ve already seen a one-minute teaser for the film this summer, and we’re now literally counting down the days until we get to see even more of Katniss’ fight for Panem.

“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1″ hits theaters November 21.

110 Movies That Are Impossible To Google

by 13 mins ago

Making it big in Hollywood is a tricky business. Actors have to have the right combination of looks, talent and luck; directors have to have an aesthetic, authority and luck; producers have to have smarts, a budget and luck, the list goes on.

Luck also, apparently, factors into the naming of films themselves. Because looking at this list of more than 100 movie titles, it would appear that the screenwriter, greenlighter or whoever was in charge of picking the title that would go at the top of the movie poster looked at whatever written material was closest to them, jabbed their finger down, named the movie after the word closest and hoped for the best.

Yes, many of the most successful movies are totally ungoogleable. Did you mean “Michael” the movie, or your friend Mike? Looking for a history lesson about the Titanic, or Kate and Leo? “Her” or her? Don’t even get us started on the very dangerous search term “Sex Tape.” One-word, vague movie titles are inescapable (four of the top 10 all-time highest grossing movies have one-word titles), common first names are top picks for movie titles (“Jack”? Guess what the main character’s name is. Just guess.”) and everything, if you stare at it long enough, just starts to look like found poetry.

We’ve divided our 110 favorite ungoogleable movie titles into four categories — names, places, nouns and concepts/adjectives/pronouns — for ease of viewing so you can see just how dazzling the world can be.
