The Baltimore Ravens announced on Monday (September 8) that they have cut running back Ray Rice from the team following the release of footage that showed the football star striking his then-fiancée, Janay Palmer and knocking her unconscious.

After the Ravens made their announcement via Twitter, the NFL PR rep Greg Aiello announced that the league has suspended Rice indefinitely.

The decision came hours after TMZ released surveillance footage of the attack. The incident occurred in the elevator of an Atlantic City, New Jersey hotel back on February 15. At the time, video surfaced of the aftermath of the attack, as Rice appeared to pull an unconscious Palmer from the elevator. But a newly-released and edited version of the tape shows Rice entering the elevator with Palmer, whom he married after the attack.

The 206-pound running back strikes his now-wife and she appears to strike him back, before he delivers a blow to her face, which causes her to knock her head on an elevator hand rail and fall unconscious. Rice then tries to drag Palmer out of the elevator, before he is stopped by what appears to be a hotel security guard.

In May, Rice entered a pretrial diversion program, which will allow him to avoid a formal prosecution if he attends the program for one year. If he completes the program, the aggravated assault charges will be dismissed, while the arrest will ...

Meek Mill has been behind bars since July, on charges that he violated probation, and Rick Ross has confirmed to MTV News this sentence will delay the release of his anticipated third solo album, which was originally scheduled to drop on September 2.

Ross’ statement reads:

“MMG and Meek Mill have decided to release Dreams Are Worth More Than Money at a future date. In true MMG fashion, Meek has dedicated himself to perfecting his sophomore project and it is only right that it should be rolled out exceptionally well. MMG also wants his fans to know that Meek is doing great and he wants to hear from you. So write him at.

On July 11, Meek was given a three-to-six month sentence for probation violation stemming from a 2009 drug and gun conviction, and his request for early parole was denied during a court appearance on August 18. The rapper’s defense team argued that he was unfairly convicted of the violation.

Although Meek’s project will be delayed, his peers have continued to show him love in recent weeks. During the Philly stop on the Drake vs. Lil Wayne Tour, the two artists let fans rap-a-long to “Dreams & Nightmares,” with Drizzy also adding, “Free Meek Milly, man.”

Siblings are known to say things to one another that they don’t really mean — specifically, a hurtful comment spewed in a moment of rage. Typically, an apology follows in due time and all is forgotten — until the next disagreement. But we’re not so sure that can be said for the Wilson girls — aka Carter and her sister Taylor — after their heated exchange.

Shortly after everyone’s favorite nice guy Max was shot by Crash on last week’s “Finding Carter” episode, an understandably distraught and bloodied Carter met her family — including her sister — at the hospital. Doctors soon announced that they’d know more about Max’s condition following surgery, causing T to lash out at a hysterical Carter — and not only reprimand her for seeking comfort from their birth mother Elizabeth, but also blame her twin for the entire horrifying ordeal.

“I don’t know what’s worse — you being abducted or you coming back here,” Taylor coldly told Carter. “All you’ve done is hurt me and hurt our family.” But she saved the toughest and harshest blow for last, leaving Carter uncontrollably sobbing:

On September 7, word started to fly around the Internet that Durex, the makers of finer safe sex products everywhere, were going to be releasing the most seasonally appropriate prophylactic ever made. Specifically, a pumpkin spice flavored condom:

Unfortunately for aficionados who would like to follow up their latte with a lotta something else, the picture is a hoax, as MTV News found out when we reached out to Durex.

“Durex has heard that people are saying we launched a ‘Pumpkin Spice’ condom,” Durex said in an official statement. “We can’t claim this one, but we do love it when people spice it up in the bedroom.”

And though the pumpkin spice condoms aren’t real – and maybe shouldn’t be – the level of interest around them suggests that the safe sex industry might want to look outside the, er, box for other flavors. If so, we’ve got a few suggestions.

Usher told fans to be prepared for the ultimate live experience when he takes his UR Experience show on the road later this year. And he’s already hooked us with “Good Kisser” and his Nicki Minaj collabo “She Came To Give It To You.”

Hell, at the 2014 VMAs last month he told us that Drake is also on the album, so we know it’s stacked.

There’s only one problem: as of Monday (September 8) the album, tentatively slated for release later this year, is on ice. The singer told Billboard that he’s “taking my time” with his eighth studio release and that at this point, the “album isn’t scheduled anymore.” A spokesperson for Usher could not be reached for further comment at press time.

“The album isn’t scheduled anymore. I’ve basically taken it back. I’m taking my time with it,” Usher said. “At the end of the day, all of this is just about having fun. You get in the studio [and] go with how you feel.” And while we have to wait to hear it, clearly Ush is prepping something major, as he told the magazine that he’s “having fun” working on songs with everyone from Ed Sheeran to Pharrell, Diplo, Jermaine Dupri, Skrillex and Chris Brown.

Some people go to the gym after carrying too much beer in their bellies, but 38-year-old German dude Oliver Struempfel goes to the gym to carry it in his arms. Yes, in Germany, competitive beer carrying is a thing. And last Sunday, Struempfel broke the sport(?)’s world record.

Struempfel impressively carried 27 one-liter mugs of beer across a 40-meter distance. (And he isn’t even a waiter, just a tax inspector.) I mean, just look at him go:

Struempfel is not a beer-carrying newbie. “I have worked here in the beer tent for the past 17 years, so I have lots of training,” he told Reuters after his big win at the Gillemoos beer festival.

“Of course, it has happened to me before that some beer mugs have fallen down,” he said. “Three years ago, 23 beer mugs fell down at once.” But that’s nothing compared to his new 27-mug world record.

While the Carters were on vacation in Italy on Saturday, they did what is only acceptable for music royalty: they crashed a wedding. As paparazzi followed the couple around Portofino, they climbed straight up the steps of the church of St. Martin, and surprised an unsuspecting bride.

Hold onto your rapidly shrinking wallets — Twitter is introducing a new way to shop, all without leaving the microblogging service. That’s right, a “buy” button will now be nestled among those 140 characters. Right in time for Christmas, am I right?

Twitter announced the new feature Monday (September 8) via its blog, explaining that it’s launching the “buy” button with the likes of Eminem, Panic! At The Disco, Pharrell, Paramore and Wiz Khalifa — to name a very few accounts, which also include organizations like GLAAD and brands like Burberry.

So how exactly will you be able to buy, say, Em’s new single while scanning passive aggressive tweets from your ex and checking in with Miley Cyrus’ new art habit?

Basically, soon you’ll see a new “buy” button popping up in tweets from the aforementioned accounts, which will offer up products, services and opportunities that one can only purchase within Twitter. After tapping “buy,” you’ll be asked to enter in the usual payment info (address, credit card number, etc) — all without leaving Twitter. Once you’ve bought one item, this info will autofill and you’ll be able to spend money with a click from there on out. Dangerous, to be sure, if you’re as into buying special edition music merchandise as much as I am.

Still, for bands, this feature could be a boon — as artists with a strong social following will be able to more easily get concert tickets and tunes in the hands of the people ...

There’s something to be said about being honest, even if it has to do with breaking out in claws and fangs at the slightest full moon.

Our beloved Beta lycanthrope Liam is not only struggling with the sudden onslaught of superhuman strength (amongst other “Teen Wolf” side effects), he’s also grappling with the idea of coming clean to his best friend Mason.

One of the brighter crayons in the proverbial box, Mason knows Liam is hiding something and was thisclose to confronting the newest member of Scott‘s pack during last week’s episode. “I know something’s going on. I know you don’t want to talk about it. But you’re still my best friend. When you’re ready to talk, talk.” SO SWEET! Despite Liam’s occasional shadiness, Mason seems hell-bent on remaining loyal to BFF code.

That said, is it time for Liam to come clean? Sure, there’s always the risk Mason could take off running once he finds that his bestie has a hard-to-manage thirst for blood. But look at Stiles and Scott — the quintessential human-wolf duo are closer than ever! Even Mama McCall knows Scott’s secret, and there’s been absolutely no disowning going on.
