When Is Wale’s The Album About Nothing Coming? Because This Trailer Has Us Hyped

by 2 mins ago

Wale’s next LP is titled The Album About Nothing, but the Maybach Music rapper sure has a lot to say in the three-minute trailer for the project.

The “Bad” MC tweeted a link for the video on Monday (September 8), and in it, he addresses his past controversies before coming to a resolve. For Wale, recording the follow-up to his 2008 “Seinfeld”-inspired The Mixtape About Nothing is his cure-all.

Did we mention that comedy icon and his longtime muse Jerry Seinfeld also makes an appearance? Looks dope.

Mentally been many places, but I'm Brooklyn's own. Hip-hop gives me life!

Lorde Hits A Home Run With Custom Baseball Card: See The Pic

by 2 mins ago

As Lorde’s “Royals” was inspired, in part, by baseball, it’s only fitting that the 17-year-old singer should have her own collectible card. For her show in Philly last Friday, it seems, The Mann Center created a custom baseball card for Ella.

“the mann made some cute lil baseball cards for tonight,” Lorde wrote on Instagram, sharing a snap of the card, which features an illustration of the Pure Heroine singer all kitted-out like a ballplayer. Although the purple-lipped one doesn’t really seem like the athletic type, the homage is actually fitting.

Lorde previously revealed in an interview with VH1 that her #1 hit was inspired, in part, by a photo she saw in National Geographic of Kansas City Royals’ legend George Brett, who spent his entire 21-year career with the team, led them to a World Series title in 1985 and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999.

“I had this image from the National Geographic of this dude signing baseballs,” Lorde said. “He was a baseball player and his shirt said ‘Royals.’ And I was like ‘I really love that word,’ because I’m a big word fetishist, I’ll pick a word and I’ll pin an idea to that. It was just that word and I was like ‘This is really cool.’”

Eventually, she went on to meet the athlete.

This isn’t the first card Lorde has spawned, however. We created our own Ella collectible late last year, in ...

Anna Kendrick Is So Happy She Could Sing In First ‘Last Five Years’ Clip

by 4 mins ago

If the first clip from “The Last Five Years” has made one thing clear, it’s that this ish is a musical. It’s not a movie with an amped-up soundtrack, it doesn’t make excuses for characters bursting into song by placing them in the context of performances or daydreams a la “Chicago,” and it’s not shying away from letting us hear its characters sing before we pay for the ticket (“Into the Woods,” we just wanna hear you sing) — it is unflinchingly a musical.

The first clip from the movie is here courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, featuring Anna Kendrick (who’ll be singing a different tune in “Into the Woods” come Christmas) and Jeremy Jordan (“Smash”). We only get to hear Kendrick’s pipes this time around — the stage version of the musical the movie is adapted from has a unique chronology that seems to exclude most duets — but oh, what pipes they are.

Plus, bonus, she’s climbing all over a convertible for no reason that we can really see except that she’s so super in love with Jordan’s face, so. There’s that too. We like it!

“The Last Five Years” debuted over the weekend at Toronto International Film Festival and was acquired by The Weinstein Company. A Valentines Day 2015 release is planned for the movie.

Did Ed Sheeran Just Confirm Someone From 1D Snagged His Girl?

by 11 mins ago

It’s one of the biggest mysteries about Ed Sheeran‘s “Don’t”: who’s the girl in the song who sneaked under his nose and hooked up with another guy… in the same hotel? But maybe more importantly, which dude so utterly broke the bro code?

Ed has been very polite and British about the story behind the X song to date, refusing to name names and saying that he just wrote it to make peace with the situation, which he did with such cutting lines as, “I never intended to be next/ But you didn’t need to take him to bed that’s all/ And I never saw him as a threat/ Until you disappeared with him to have sex of course/ It’s not like we were both on tour/ We were staying on the same f—ing hotel floor.”

On Monday (September 8), during an appearance on Howard Stern’s satellite radio show, Sheeran played a few songs (“Thinking Out Loud” and a killer cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Atlantic City”), chatted about how he (kind of) introduced Snow Patrol guitarist and mate Johnny McDaid to Courteney Cox, and, oh yeah, he almost revealed who the bro code-breaker was.

“It was a One Direction guy, right,” Stern asked about the origin of “Don’t.”

“The papers says a lot of things,” Sheeran replied. “I have kept my mouth shut about a lot of things. I think if you add any fuel to any fire…” Stern, of course, was not satisfied with that answer and wondered if ...

Want To Survive A Shark Attack? Be A Lady

by 28 mins ago

There’s plenty of fish in sea, yes, but there’s also a ton of sharks — and a new Australian study suggests that they prefer to feast on men rather than on women.

The researchers from Queensland’s Bond University discovered that 84% of unprovoked — unprovoked! — shark attacks against humans were directed at males. Men also made up 89% of deaths-by-shark-bite. Meanwhile, women were found to be nine times more likely to survive a shark attack than guys were.

“Potentially men spend more time in the water, and are more risk-prone,” associate professor and study author Daryl McPhee told the Telegraph.

The number of unprovoked shark bites has tripled worldwide in the past three decades, prompting increased research on the topic. Australia has the highest number of shark attack fatalities, and over 18% of the country’s 171 recorded attacks between 1982 to 2011 were deadly. Compare that to the U.S., where only 25 out of 769 unprovoked bites — a mere 3.6% — killed the victim.

But this research only applies to unprovoked shark bites. Provoked shark attacks are a whole new ballgame: “People patting sharks on the head, making them angry, putting their hand in the shark’s mouth to get a fishing hook out, jumping on sharks and trying to ride them,” as McPhee explains.

Disturbing Video Of Ray Rice Punching His Fiancee Has Surfaced Online

by 1 min ago

NFL running back Ray Rice is currently serving a two-game suspension, after a February attack on his then-fiancée, Janay Palmer. On Monday (September 8) a jarring video of the crushing blow hit the Internet for all to see.

The incident occurred in the elevator of an Atlantic City, New Jersey hotel back on February 15. At the time, video surfaced of the aftermath of the attack, as Rice appeared to pull an unconscious Palmer from the elevator. But TMZ Sports has now published an edited version of the brutal surveillance tape. In the three-and-a-half-minute clip, Rice can be seen entering the elevator with Palmer, whom he married after the attack.

In the video, the 206-pound running back strikes his now-wife and she appears to strike him back, before he delivers a blow to her face, which causes her to knock her head on an elevator hand rail and fall unconscious. Rice then tries to drag Palmer out of the elevator, before he is stopped by what appears to be a hotel security guard. TMZ says the video is a “cleaned up version” of the raw surveillance video which was “jerky.”

Rice was suspended for two games and fined more than $500,000 by the NFL, which said it did not see the gruesome footage until today. “We requested from law enforcement any and all information about the incident, including the video from inside the elevator. ...

How ‘The Wire’ Prepared Michael K. Williams For The End Of ‘Boardwalk Empire’

by 3 mins ago

Last night’s “Boardwalk Empire” marked the beginning of the end for the period gangster drama, and at the red carpet premiere for the final season, the cast shared their mixed emotions about saying “goodbye” to the show and their characters.

“I’m sad to see it go, but I’m excited to give it to the world and get them what they’ve been waiting for. I’m going to miss my coworkers. We got along,” said Michael K. Willams, who plays Chalky White. “There was great writing, a great crew and great cast. It was a great working environment, so I’m going to miss that.”

But Williams is well-prepared for his current series to end. He’s been through this before. Williams earned serious recognition for playing fan-favorite character Omar on “The Wire.” The two experiences of ending a series have been markedly different for him though.

“Chalky grew on me in a way that Omar may or may not have. I was a little more focused going into this show, a little more experience as to how to carry a reoccurring character, like Chalky,” Williams said. “I’m going to miss the work we did as a cast.”

When “The Wire” ended, Williams didn’t know how to handle that experience, but for “Boardwalk Empire,” he’s more prepared.

“I had no idea what I was dealing with when ‘The Wire’ ended. I got really sad, and I just didn’t understand,” he said. “I got a little too attached to the show, to the character, to the coworkers. ...

JWOWW Gets Shipwrecked During Wave Runner Ride

by 6 mins ago

In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue. In 2014, Jenni Farley drove her jet ski onto some grass.

The “Snooki & JWOWW” star and her beloved Roger Mathews spent one of summer’s last few weekends (YES, IT’S STILL TECHNICALLY SUMMER) tearing through the tide on a couple of wave runners. But when water proved to be a bore for Jenni, she pioneered brand-new territory and took her journey landward. WHO NEEDS RULES ANYWAY!

JWOWW JetRoger Mathews' Twitter

“Went jet skiing today and Jenni decided to mow some grass with her ski. #Whiskythrottle” Roger tweeted with the photo above, in which his leading lady proudly stands next to her transpo of choice. Sadly, the watercraft didn’t survive JWOWW’s jaunt, but thankfully, a kind fellow named Mike Karpinski was around to give her a ride back to the ramp from which the group departed.
