7 Appearances, 13 Outfits, 1 Cheese Hat: Katy Perry At The VMAs

by 2 mins ago

The 2014 Video Music Awards are in mere days, you guys. While we are eagerly anticipating the numerous performances from Nicki Minaj, Sam Smith, 5 Seconds of Summer, and more, we are—TBH—equally excited to see what everyone wears on the red carpet. Topping that list? Katy Perry, natch. KP is #KWEEN of the VMAs, with seven consecutive appearances already under her belt. 2014 will make (at least) eight and based on past looks, we are, obviously, expecting a lot.

2008 marked Katy Perry’s first time at the VMAs. She was still very into her pin-up phase and opted for satin hotpants and bustier.

Even as a first-timer, Katy knew multiple outfits were necessary to make an impression. She changed into a second satin bodysuit when she hit the stage between main stage performances. Katy’s love for food-themed clothing is apparent, even this early in her career.

In 2009, Katy went a touch more glam. Dressed in head-to-toe silver from The Blonds, Katy showed that she could pull off both couture and costumes.

For her performance with Joe Perry, Katy erred on the costume side, in a heavily-embellished corset, white spandex, and thigh-high boots.

5SOS Threaten To Tell The Lamest Of Dad Jokes If They Win A VMA: Watch

by 29 mins ago

With the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards almost upon us, we caught up with 5 Seconds Of Summer and the rest of our Artist To Watch nominees to find out how they reacted when they first heard about their VMA nominations and what they’ve got planned for us if they end up taking home the Moonman.

If they win, will 5SOS whip out an endearingly #JustLikeUs fall à la Jennifer Lawrence at the 2013 Oscars? Perhaps an interpretive choreopoem telling their entire life story from birth to the present? Maybe an indecipherable five minutes of pure, unadulterated weeping? Our inquiring minds just had to know.

Well if Mikey has his way, we might be in for some majorly punny standup: “I was thinking we make a ‘watch’ joke. We go, ‘Oh, you’re all the artists to watch!” You hear that low grumbling? Even your dad is groaning at that joke.

Get a taste of 5SOS’ comedy gold below.

Camila Cabello of Fifth Harmony “literally started sobbing” when she found out about the group’s nomination.

While Schoolboy Q had a much more tempered response.

Charli XCX says that she’ll “probably trip over and fall over and flash [her] pants” if she wins.

As for Sam Smith? He says he’ll “try not to cry” if he’s named Artist To Watch. Good luck!

It's up to you to decide the winners of the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards! Vote now and tune in Sunday, August 24, at 9/8c ET ...

GirlbossJo Ratcliffe

Watch 50 Cent Taunt Floyd Mayweather In His New ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Video

by 27 mins ago

50 Cent already completed the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge earlier this week. But on Thursday (August 21), he did it again — kind of.

In classic 50 fashion — part bully, part comedian — he called out his former friend Floyd Mayweather, saying that he’d donate $750,000 to any charity of the boxing champ’s choice. The catch? Floyd has to read one page in any “Harry Potter” book.

Needless to say, these two have had a bit of a falling out in recent years.

“Floyd will you except my ALS/ESL CHALLENGE,” Fif wrote in the caption for the video. “I will donate $750k to a charity of your choice, If you can read a full page out of a Harry Potter book out loud without starting and stopping or f–king up. lmao”

On the music side of things, G-Unit released the music video for their “Come Up” late Wednesday night. You can watch the Eif Rivera-directed clip below.

Lauryn Hill Dropped Her Song ‘Black Rage’ Because Of Ferguson: Listen

by 9 mins ago

“My Favorite Things” is a feel-good song from “The Sound of Music.” But Lauryn Hill has flipped that classic on its head with her new song, “Black Rage.”

Sung to the same tune, the track — which was recorded a few years back, and has been performed live in the time since, though the audio has never been put out until now — was released on Wednesday night, on the heels of continued tension in Ferguson, Missouri, and across the country following the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown.

“An old sketch of Black Rage, done in my living room. Strange, the course of things. Peace for MO. – MLH,” Hill wrote when she posted the song on her site.

“Black Rage is founded on blocking the truth!/ Murder and crime, compromise and distortion/ Sacrifice, sacrifice, who makes this fortune?” she sings over subtle percussion and guitar strums.

Bryan Singer Got A Tattoo, And Patrick Stewart Was There To Supervise

by 18 mins ago

We don’t know if getting fresh ink necessarily makes you a mutant, but it certainly counts as a commemoration of high-performing mutants.

Bryan Singer, director of “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” got new ink at the Shamrock Social Club in Hollywood, CA recently to celebrate the movie passing $700 million at the box office. To make it even better, yeah, it would seem that it’s a tat of the X-Men X. To make it evern more betterer, Sir Patrick Stewart, who plays Professor X in the movie, supervised the tattooing process.

Singer posted an instagram of the momentous occasion:

The tattooing madness doesn’t stop there either. A thorough investigation of Singer’s instagram (all 16 posts) shows that his assistant got an X to mark the spot — “the spot” is $500 million box office — as well, as part of a bet. It would also seem that screenwriter Simon Kinberg is part of the bet, so keep an eye on those calves as well.

Who’s next? We’re tempted to buy tickets until we find out who the X tat’s next victim is.
