Wiz Khalifa takes listeners through a couple of different zones on his upcoming LP Blacc Hollywood. There’s the turnt up, club anthem “We Dem Boyz,” the smoker’s ode “KK,” and on “True Colors”, Wiz links with Nicki Minaj for an inspirational tune.

Wiz’s album doesn’t hit stores until August 19, but fans can go to WizKhalifa.MTV.com to get an exclusive first listen. On “True Colors,” both rap stars give first-hand accounts of former friends who turned green with envy.

“Me, I make different types of songs. Some are for the club, some are for the smokers and some are very inspirational and motivational. Songs like ‘This Plane’ and things like that with a message behind it and that’s what ‘True Colors’ is more down the line of,” Wiz told MTV News on Sunday when we traveled to Detroit to catch him on his Under the Influence of Music Tour.

Collaborating with Nicki was a big deal for Khalifa — she’s a tried and true hitmaker and an artist that Wiz has a great deal of respect for. “She kills it inspirationally, [and] lyrically. You know how we both do,” he said of their performance.

A couple days ago, we brought you the first post-victory interview with Gentry Stein, the newly crowned victor of the World Yo-Yo Contest in Prague, whose winning routine is now approaching a million online views. No doubt the guy is super talented and deserves the title, but we were kinda surprised that he dissed yo-yo’s old guard:

“I ran into this dude and his wife, talking about being yo-yo champions in the ’70s with rock the baby. That’s cool they have that story, and so many people have that same story: ‘I was a yo-yo champion in the ’60s, and I did walk the dog,’ but that’s what’s killing the image.

“What I’m thinking now is, if we can continue to push this video when it’s going viral — and to get as many people as possible to see what it’s becoming — we can talk about that instead of how their grandpa was good at something.”

As any fan of “The Vampire Diaries” knows, Nina Dobrev is pretty great when it comes to playing good cop/bad cop — or good doppelgänger/bad doppelgänger, same diff.

Unfortunately, it looks like MTV News’ Josh Horowitz might be a little bit behind on his vamp dramas. During a recent press tour for her new film “Let’s Be Cops,” Dobrev got super method with Horowitz when we invited her to show off her recently learned “official” police techniques, specifically the one we all know and love as good cop/bad cop.

I mean, things started out well enough — a smokin-hot-as-usual Dobrev asked Horowitz if he’d seen the Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans, Jr. starrer-”Cops,” he said yes, and even went so far as to clarify that he really enjoyed it. Everything seemed to be going great. Unfortunately, this positive review wasn’t enough to satiate Dobrev’s “good cop” — she wanted raves, and she knew she needed to use her “bad cop” alter-ego to get it.

“I hear you hated my movie,” bad Dobrev said. “F— you Josh, don’t you insult me to my f—ing face!”

And, well, it’s pretty safe to say that it all went downhill from there. Check out “Let’s Be Cops” in theaters beginning August 13, and if you hear anything regarding the whereabouts of MTV News corespondent Josh Horowitz, please call his wife because she’s worried.

Joey Bada$$ isn’t into keeping up rap’s status quo, so when it came time to shoot the video for “Big Dusty,” he opted not to bring the fancy cars, expensive jewelry or exotic women.

The Pro Era MC dropped the track — the first from his upcoming debut album B4.Da.$$ — at the top of the month. On Tuesday night, he followed up with the video, which finds Joey and the Pros rhyming to camera while standing in a dimly lit hallway. No bells and whistles here, just hard hip-hop.

Is it something in the air? Amidst reports that Ciara has called off her engagement to Future, we’re also hearing that Tyga and Blac Chyna have called it quits.

The couple welcomed their son, Cairo, in October of 2012 and were engaged two months later, but apparently they’re parting ways now.

TMZ reports that Tyga called off the engagement, although it’s unclear why, and added that it wasn’t exactly a mutual split. A source close to Tyga claims that Chyna is having a difficult time accepting the news. Apparently, Tyga has hosted two pool parties recently, including one for Kylie Jenner, and Black Chyna didn’t get the invite.

Last year, the couple was spotted on double dates with KimYe, Blac Chyna posed for some workout selfies with Kim Kardashian, and Kim even attended Cairo’s first birthday party.

On Season 1 of “Mac Miller and the Most Dope Family,” Mac Miller searched tirelessly for the perfect pooch. Finally, this season, he fell deeply in (puppy) love with two adorable dogs named Ralphie and Lauren — but quickly found that a lot of responsibility came with them.

In this sneak peek of tonight’s episode, Mac hires a U.S. Marine dog trainer to help him housebreak his pups. “I’m just trying to figure out this peeing and pooping, because I’m sick of scooping,” Mac tells his friend Jimmy.

When Cora of “Precious Pooch” finally arrives, she informs Mac that much of the hard work actually has to come from the owners. “Potty training takes a lot of responsibility on your end,” she says.

“Oh, we’re responsible human beings,” Mac responds, as Jimmy looks over at the camera with a sly smirk.

MTV News: There’s a couple of different plots that are in the works right now, but one of the more interesting team ups we got was Jason Bard, Batman and Killer Croc. What’s it been like to write that trio?

Tim Seeley: Mostly I wanted to continue the story I kind of got to start in the Villains Month issue, which had Croc be a slightly more sympathetic guy, not just a monster. But he’s also, you know, prone to eating people and doing terrible things if they make him angry. It’s also kind of a story about us not really knowing what Jason Bard’s moral qualifications are just yet. I thought it would be kind of cool to put those with questionable morals, with a guy like Batman who has unquestionable morals and you can kind of see what shook out.

MTV: Down in Croc’s cavern, Batman refers to the entities he’s captured as extra-dimensional aliens? What’s going on there and how did he get to this information?

Maybe the only thing Paul Walker loved more than cars was the ocean.

The actor was always a huge marine biology enthusiast, having studied it in college, and was reportedly fascinated by sharks. Walker even helped with a 2013 Shark Week special “Spawn of Jaws.”

It turns out that the star was actually in the middle of filming a followup to that special, called “Spawn of Jaws: The Birth,” which airs tonight (August 13) on Discovery. Walker’s partner on the endeavor, Dr. Michael Domeier, was very conflicted about finishing the project without his friend and colleague.

“Honestly, I really didn’t want to keep working on the film,” Domeier said to EW. “But after a few months went by, I decided, ‘Okay, Paul would want us to finish it, let’s finish it.’”

Domeier said that he hadn’t wanted Walker on the initial mission for 2010′s “Shark Men,” but that he was impressed by the actor and the two became fast friends. A couple of times, Walker even told Domeier that he wanted to quit acting and go back to school.

“He would call me in the middle of the night and say, ‘Hey, I want to quit acting. I want to go back to school. Can you help me?’” Domeier said. “And I’d talk him off the ledge and go, ‘Paul, that’s a really bad idea…You can have much more of an influence on these topics as a celebrity. Let’s work together. I can help you, give you talking points.’”
