Zac Efron And Michelle Rodriguez Are A Good ‘Influence On Each Other’

by 13 mins ago

It’s not just that Zac Efron and Michelle Rodriguez are one of the more unexpected celebrity couples to hook up in recent memory — the ab-licious “High School Musical” grad and the feisty “Fast and the Furious” star are a study in opposites — but their awkward coupling is also apparently cause for concern in some corners of the Internet.

This week, the matter boiled to the level of “hot topics” when blogger Perez guested on Wendy Williams’ show. After sharing his theory on what drew the unlikely duo together in the first place — *clears throat*, summer fling — the gossip gangsta said that he was worried bad-girl Rodriguez would be a bad influence on fresh-from-rehab Efron.

Zac and Michelle were first spotted smooching over the Fourth of July wekend on a yacht in Sardinia. Their PDA-filled Italian adventure continued in the club, where the pair were again caught kissing. Their host, businessman Gianluca Vacchi, thinks we should be cheers-ing to the actors’ newfound dolce vita. In fact, he took to Instagram on Friday (July 11) to say that the daytime talk show segment had given him a good chuckle.

“Don’t be concerned, Z and Mich have a mutual healthy influence each other and they are very cute toghether,” Vacchi wrote alongside an clip from the “WW” show.

Meek Mill Sentenced To Three To Six Months In Prison

by 28 mins ago

Meek Mill is headed to prison for three to six months after violating probation stemming from a 2009 drug and gun case. The rapper (born Robert Williams) was taken into custody and transported to the city prison complex in Northeast Philadelphia after a judge handed down the sentence, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported on Friday (July 11).

Common Pleas Court Judge Genece E. Brinkley had reportedly reached her limit with Meek after the MMG rapper booked concerts between July 11 and August 11, despite her order that he cut back on scheduling shows during that time to resolve his ongoing probation issues.

“Sir, I didn’t want to do this but you made me do this,” Judge Brinkley told Meek in court. “After all the years I tried to get you on the right track.”

The Philly MC and his lawyer Gary Silver tried unsuccessfully to convince Brinkley not to send him back to prison, arguing that the interruption would destroy the momentum he’s built in his budding rap career.

Meek’s sophomore LP, Dreams Worth More Than Money, is scheduled for a September 9 release.

“It took me 15 years to get here and this will be extremely damaging to my life,” Meek told the judge.

The “I Don’t Know” MC has been a regular fixture in the Philadelphia court system for the last two years, wrangling with the city’s probation officers about the terms and limitations of his probation, as well as drawing the ire of the judge about his international touring schedule.

Lil’ Kim’s Lil ‘Princess’ Royal Reign Makes Her Debut: See The Pic

by 50 mins ago

Maybe it’s because she celebrated a milestone birthday today (July 11), but Lil’ Kim was in a giving mood. On the afternoon of her 40th, the diminutive diva shared the first pic of her newborn “princess,” Royal Reign.

Born on June 9, the adorable rap scion was photographed while swathed in white blankets and a matching knit cap. A clearly emotional Kim first hashtagged her fan army by their various Killer Bee handles, thanking them for the born-day wishes, before gushing about her little bundle.

“On my Birthday I want to share something special with U all…. The greatest gift I have ever received. My princess, Royal !!!!! This is her first picture on the day she was born,” she wrote on her Instagram. “It was life changing and I want to share a small piece of my pride and joy with U.”

Royal Reign is Kim’s first child. The Bed-Stuy spitter and her boyfriend, New York-based rapper Mr. Papers, welcomed her into the world just over a month ago with a name only a Queen B could come up with.

It’s Been One Year Since The Trayvon Martin Trial, Where Are We Now?

by 38 mins ago

The 2012 shooting death of 17-year-old Florida native Trayvon Martin made global headlines and became as polarizing a case as America has seen in recent memory.

George Zimmerman, the shooter who took the African-American teen’s life, was charged with second-degree murder and began trial on June 24, 2013. After 16 hours of deliberation, the 30-year-old was found not guilty on July 13, on the basis of Florida’s controversial “stand your ground” law, which maintains that a person can justifiably use force and not retreat in matters of self-defense.

The verdict sparked outrage and drew criticism from celebrities like Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj, as well as President Obama. While those directly connected to the case were of course the most affected, the country was deeply moved — and sometimes divided — by the verdict. Trayvon, who wore a hoodie and carried a candy and juice the night he was killed, has become a global symbol. A year later, MTV News looks at those involved in the Trayvon Martin trial to see where they are now.

After the not-guilty verdict, Zimmerman seemed to spiral into a sea of controversy. Just days after he was acquitted, Zimmerman rescued a family of four from a car accident. But by September, his wife had filed for divorce, and two months later he was arrested after a domestic dispute with a girlfriend.

Zimmerman was scheduled to fight rapper DMX in a celebrity boxing match earlier this year, but ...

Watch Lil Wayne Tell The Story Of His First Seizure And The Birth Of His Solo Career

by 1 min ago

Lil Wayne tells the best stories. Not only does he casually throw around words like “unknowledgeable” — without knowing if it’s even in the dictionary — but somehow he manages to turn scary things like seizures into a feel-good tale.

In his latest installation of “Weezy Wednesdays,” Tune takes us back to the early era of Cash Money, before he was a breakout solo star. He starts by setting up the elaborate concert scenes, where Baby and Mannie Fresh would emerge from massive diamond Rolex watch stage props, and he would descend onto the stage in a chopper.

The severity of Wayne’s seizures became public knowledge recently, but during those early years he simply thought they were hot flashes.

At one particular show, he passed out from one of those “hot flashes” and was unable to perform for a while. The crowd was never happy to hear about his absence, and when he finally returned to the stage it was a pretty triumphant moment … one that he considers the birth of his solo career.

Get a snack, sit down, and enjoy the full story above. This summer he’ll be heading out on the Drake vs. Lil Wayne tour, where he’ll literally battle his protege, Drizzy, onstage.

This Is Why Selena Gomez Is More Than Her Relationship

by 5 mins ago

We Selenators look out for each other. So when we noticed that Selena Gomez was throwing out a few signs that she might be going through some stuff, we wanted to jump right there by her side.

You know, whether her vague quotes were about Justin Bieber doesn’t matter. The fact is, Selenators are family, and when she speaks to us, we speak back.

Earlier this week, she reached out directly to fans on Instagram. “You’re always listened to,” she wrote on one pic, continuing on another, “And usually always right.”

Selenators, whether they supported Jelena or not, just want her to be happy. But many (media like us are to blame) are pegging Selena’s every move to Justin’s photos with a new girl. Selena posts pics with friends? It must be because she’s trying to forget Justin. Selena posts picture of ocean? She must be contemplating her lost relationship. Oh, she’s hanging out with other people? She trying to make him jealous. She’s wearing a bikini? Definitely trying to make Justin jealous. And that quote she put up? That must be her sending shade to Justin.

Not to mention this article that claims they’re “officially engaged” in a rebound dating duel.

Let’s stop reading into Selena’s life through a Justin Bieber lens. Let’s just see Selena for Selena.

While the couple took a weird, meandering, on-again-off-again turn, she admitted on Instagram that she always knew how it would end up. ...

Fans Celebrate Cory Monteith With Touching Art A Year After His Death

by 27 mins ago

It’s hard to believe that this Sunday marks one year since the tragic passing of “Glee” star Cory Monteith.

The 31-year-old actor, best known for his portrayal as Finn Hudson on the hit Fox series, was found dead in his hotel room of a drug overdose on July 13, 2013, in Vancouver.

The past year has been one of coping and healing for many of Cory’s close friends and family. “Glee” honored the late actor during a truly touching tribute episode, while Lea Michele has kept his memory alive sharing personal stories not only in interviews, but through her music as well.

But it wasn’t just those who knew Cory that were effected by his passing. Millions of fans he touched throughout his career were grieving as well. In the days, weeks and months since his death, Gleeks have found a touching way to remember him: through fan art.

We gathered some of the drawings you created over the past year to not only honor and remember Cory, but to celebrate his life and the incredible impact he had on so many.

Here’s The Story Behind MAGIC!, That Band That Sings That Random Reggae Song, ‘Rude’

by 33 mins ago

If you listen to the radio, then it’s likely that “Rude,” the sleeper hit of the summer, has been playing on a dubiously welcome loop in your head since October 2013. Or… you have no idea what I’m talking about or if the band is called Rude and the song’s called “MAGIC!” or the song’s called “Rude” and the band’s called “MAGIC!” (It’s the latter.)

“Rude” has been quietly crawling up the charts — all the way up to the No. 2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Digital Downloads chart behind Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy.” The multi-platinum adult-contemporary beachcore track is currently chilling at the top of the charts in the United States, New Zealand and Australia. If Iggy’s “Fancy” is the audacious misfit pep rally of summer jams, “Rude” is right behind it bringing up the rear, politely golf-clapping to announce its presence, in the most unassuming Canadian of ways.

So how are there members of the general music-consuming human race who still can’t tell “Rude” from MAGIC!? Somehow we’ve let ourselves become a people divided between those who’ve never heard the tepid, reggae-Lite radio hit that feels like Sublime and Train hopped a plane for a week’s vacation in Montego Bay, and people who’ve collectively clicked on the video 33,046,117 times.

You might know MAGIC!, but do you really know MAGIC!?

If you find yourself humming a few bars of a Police song that isn’t a Police song that isn’t a Jason Mraz song that ...
