Chris Colfer Has Been Fired By ‘Glee’

by 6 mins ago

After five seasons, arguably the most popular (or second most popular, sorry to snub you Lea Michele) cast member of FOX’s “Glee” just announced that he’s been let go from the show.

As to what these personal issues are, as Colfer explains, “explanations coming shortly.” Whether those will be explanations from him, FOX, or both, stay tuned.

Colfer is best known for his role on the FOX show, but has branched out in recent years as a best-selling author, and indie film producer. Colfer is leaving the show as it enters its final (sixth) season in the Fall.

You can follow Alex on Twitter (@azalben), but not in person because that would be weird.

‘The Fault In Our Stars’ Author Really Likes Makeup. Like, A Lot

by 15 mins ago

Apparently, “The Fault In Our Stars” author John Green really likes wearing makeup. So much so that he took to YouTube to post an entire video in which he sings its praises.

“When I was younger, I basically thought women wore makeup for men, which speaks to a sick and very deep part of the patriarchy in which men imagine that women orient themselves toward attracting men instead of having, like, meaning and pleasure inside their own lives that has nothing to do with dudes,” Green said in the video.

After wearing makeup himself, however — for TV appearances and whatnot because he’s a big star now — Green changed his tune.

“When I wear makeup, I genuinely don’t derive pleasure from thinking about how I’ll look to people watching me,” he said. “I just like the way I look; it makes me happy.” He also opines that it feels nice to touch your face “gently and kindly.”

You do you, John. You do you.

‘Finding Carter’ Star Cynthia Watros Recalls Life As A Pill-Popping Kidnapper…On The Soaps

by 28 mins ago

In 1998, after her very first nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series, Cynthia Watros walked away from the Daytime Emmy Awards with a trophy for her role on “Guiding Light.” And when you consider all that her character Annie Dutton endured (you know, like throwing herself down a flight of stairs to frame her rival for murder…), it’s really no surprise.

“I’ve done it all,” Cynthia recalls of her days as a soap star in the interview below. “I’ve kidnapped kids, I’ve carried weapons, I’ve drugged people, I’ve killed. I’m an alcoholic, pill-popping — you know, and then I’m a nun!”

And though Cynthia says you can also expect a hearty helping of drama from new MTV series “Finding Carter,” which follows a teen as she copes with the jarring news that she was abducted as a child, the actress notes that its storylines and those that evolved during her daytime TV days are apples and oranges.

“With ‘Finding Carter,’ there are some dramatic things that happen, but I think it’s all based in reality,” she explains. “It’s important for us to have it based in true feelings and if these situations were to happen, how you truly would react to it.”

Watch Cynthia reminisce about her days as Annie, and be sure to catch her on the “Finding Carter” premiere next Tuesday, July 8 at 10/9c!

Former Vegetarian Chris Martin Is So Hungry He Could Eat A Giraffe

by 2 mins ago

I once watched a friend eat a cheeseburger after she’d spent a decade as a vegetarian. Trust me, you have never seen anyone eat a cheeseburger with so much glee. EVER.

That kind of sounds like how Chris Martin is feeling these days. Just months after his “conscious uncoupling” from Gwyneth Paltrow — she of the restrictive, kind of no-fun diets — the Coldplay frontman is back on the meat wagon. “Not really,” he said this week during a BBC Radio 2 interview when asked if he was so thin because he’s a vegetarian. “Well, I eat meat. I was a vegetarian for quite a long time and for various reasons I changed.”

Okay, so Chris didn’t say exactly when he changed, but we’re picturing his re-coupling with beef this way.

Since daughter Apple is, and has been, a vegetarian since birth, Martin said he’s still tempted to go back to his old ways now and then. “I don’t eat very much meat… I felt like you should only eat something that you’d be able to kill. I don’t know why on Earth we’re talking about this. I’ve got to stop or this will be some kind of headline.”

Done and done.

“Could you kill a fish? I wouldn’t like it but I probably could, so I’ll eat the fish,” he explained. “A giraffe?”

Okay, maybe not a giraffe, but about that burger…

How Did Katy Perry And Lecrae Get Tangled In A Lawsuit Over ‘Dark Horse’?

by 10 mins ago

Katy Perry may like to play with magic, but a group of Christian rappers don’t see the fun in her #1 single “Dark Horse.”

In 2008 Flame, Grammy Award-winner LeCrae and John Reilly collaborated on “Joyful Noise,” a bouncy ode to Jesus Christ. Now the MCs are claiming that Perry and her team lifted their track and they filed a lawsuit on Tuesday, claiming copyright infringement according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The suit claims that Perry’s tongue-in-cheek track left Flame’s song “irreparably tarnished by its association with the witchcraft, paganism, black magic, and Illuminati imagery evoked by the same music in ‘Dark Horse’.”

The suit not only names Perry, but Juicy J, Dr. Luke, and Capitol records as well. Take a listen for yourself, what do you think? Did “Dark Horse” lift from “Joyful Noise?”

Mentally been many places, but I'm Brooklyn's own. Hip-hop gives me life! @RobMarkman

The ’16 And Pregnant’ Moms Are Put To The Test

by 12 mins ago

By Lauren Mann of the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy

The teens from this season of “16 and Pregnant” were all shocked to learn that they were expecting. Now, they’re ready to use their experiences and educate others on what they’ve learned — and do their part to help prevent unplanned pregnancies.

So… it’s pop quiz time! Are birth control pills effective if you skip a few days? Is using two condoms at once better protection than using one? Do you need to be on birth control if you’re not in a relationship? Powered by Bedsider.org, the test pitted the girls and their boyfriends (or, in one case, aunt!) against each other to show off their birth control smarts. Think you can do better than they did? ‘Edge Of Tomorrow’ Almost Had A Much Darker Ending

by 4 mins ago

Much has already been written about the somewhat troubled production of “Edge of Tomorrow,” including how director Doug Liman began shooting the Tom Cruise sci-fi flick without a finished script. The production cycled through a few alternate endings before landing on the version many of us saw in theaters.

Read our list of the best movies of 2014 (so far) including “Edge of Tomorrow.”

One of the film’s writers, Christopher McQuarrie, revealed to Film School Rejects that one of the finales he proposed was much bleaker than the finale included in the film.

SPOILERS AHEAD

According to McQuarrie, his take on the ending branches away from the theatrical version while Cage and Rita, accompanied by J-Squad, prepare for their assault on the Omega inside the Louvre. Cage, no longer in possession of the day-resetting power, informs J-Squad that they cannot kill an Alpha. If they do, the day will start over, with the Mimics knowing of the oncoming attack.

“When they get to Paris there’s the classic horror movie scene where one of them gets separated from the group, and he gets attacked by an Alpha and kills it. As he kills it, you see the Omega reset the day and you see the point-of-view of the villain,” McQuarrie said. “We cut to the plane and hear the same speech all over again. This time when he gets to the line, ‘You can bet they’ll have a plan to kill us all,’ the ship gets hit. As the ...

Wait, Could This Be Hilary Duff’s Album Cover?

by 12 mins ago

I knew I lit that promotional “Lizzie McGuire Movie” votive candle for a reason. Less than a week after teasing a song on Instagram, Hilary Duff has tweeted and Instagrammed another sneak-peek at her first studio album in seven years.

“Took a sneaky pic of one of the Polaroids yesterday on set. Shhh!” Duff wrote, tagging photographer Harper Smith. The mystery! It shrouds her so well.

hilary duffInstagram

A quick scan through Smith’s Instagram feed reveals another photo from Wednesday (July 2), captioned: “First day back on set post-surgery shooting for the new @hilaryduff album.” WAIT. In case you need me to spell it out for you, the key words in that caption are “shooting for the new @hilaryduff album.” That means that this visual might very well be one of the booklet photos included with Hilary’s forthcoming LP — if not the album cover itself.

I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling a whole lot of this right now.

See ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ As Told Through Emoji

by 12 mins ago

If you want to enjoy all the drama, humor, excitement, and heartbreak of “The Fault in Our Stars,” but you don’t have time in your busy schedule to a) see the movie, and b) spend the next 24 hours lying on the floor and sobbing over what it just did to your feelings, then here’s a smart solution cooked up just for you by the folks at MTV Other.

This emoji version of Hazel and Augustus’s love story conveys all the important plot points from this summer’s hottest teen romance, but it’s also, gratefully, a wee bit too whimsical to wreck you the way the actual movie would. That cute little skull makes the movie’s tragic ending seem almost charming!
