Wanna Hear G-Unit And DJ Mustard Together? Check Out ‘Don’t Tell ‘Em’

by 12 mins ago

Wondering what G-Unit will sound like when they’re fully immersed in today’s musical landscape? For a taste, look no further than their latest release, “Don’t Tell ‘Em,” which dropped on Friday (June 27).

The track — originally recorded by Jeremih and YG — is produced by DJ Mustard and Mick Schultz. And if you’ve turned on the radio this year, then you’re well aware that, for a number of hits, it’s Mustard on the beat, h-e.

The whole gang is here, with 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Young Buck, Tony Yayo and Kidd Kidd all delivering bars around Jeremih’s vocals.

We’ll have to wait until November or December for the Unit’s reunion album, to hear what they sound like on a full project with original production in 2014. But we should get plenty more of these warm ups — of which we’ve already gotten a handful — on their upcoming mixtape.

“You’ll see a mixtape come out before [the album],” 50 told MTV News recently. “The material that you see us putting out, it’s just getting back to the way we did it from the very beginning. We’re gonna start over and work like we need a record deal.”

“But while we’re putting out that music, we’re making the coolest original content and letting that be there for the actual album.”

Ed Sheeran Trashed His Hotel Room, Then Cleaned It Up

by 12 mins ago

For the most part, Ed Sheeran has done a pretty good job of staying out of the tabloids and keeping the focus on his music.

It’s probably because when he does make a mess of things, he cleans it up.

In an interview with Parade magazine, Ed opens up about some of his rock star moments, from sampling a form of ecstasy, passing out drunk at Jennifer Aniston’s house and trashing a hotel room after a “wicked night” out.

“I felt so bad and said, ‘Oh, someone’s going to have to clean this up,’ ” he recalls of the night where he and his friends piled everything that wasn’t bolted down in the room into the bathtub. “So I literally de-trashed my room and put it back to normal. If I trash a hotel room, will anyone like me more? You’re not going to have kids going, ‘Oh, that’s really cool and edgy.’ You’re probably going to get a ticked-off maid and that’s about it.”

It’s that nice-guy personality, along with his incredible talent, that’s putting Ed at the top of the charts and on radio stations around the world.

“It’s the time of being polite,” he said. “Radio stations aren’t going to play you if you show up late. You have to be respectful and do your job. You can guarantee that Taylor [Swift] will always be professional and polite, and ...

The ‘Disappearance Of Eleanor Rigby’ Trailer Has ‘Oscars’ Written All Over It

by 14 mins ago

The trailer for “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby,” one of the gems of last year’s festival circuit, has finally premiered, giving the general public a preview of what is sure to be a talking point as we move into awards season.

The film by writer-director Ned Benson aims to do something entirely new with an on-screen relationship. Depending on how you look at it, “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby” can be either described as one movie or two because it tells the story of a couple (Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy) from two perspectives, “Him” and “Her.” Each point of view was its own movie when the pair debuted back-to-back at the Toronto International Film Festival.

After it was a hit with the crowd at TIFF, the Weinstein Company scooped up the rights and began planning a release strategy with a very likely awards campaign for both leads.

But what to do about that run time?

At TIFF, “Him” clocked in at 89 minutes, with “Her” coming in at 100. When “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby” opens wide in September, it will be one film, called “Them,” which is a hair under two hours.

That’s some Harvey Weinstein math for you.

If you live near a good art house theater, it’s possible that you’ll be able to take in “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby” in its original two-film format in the fall, after the combined cut opens on September 26.

Watch Schoolboy Q Hit Times Square To Sell His CD Hand-To-Hand

by 6 mins ago

Schoolboy Q really knows how to hustle. The TDE MC started out as Kendrick Lamar’s hype man, but quickly learned the rap ropes and in February dropped his major label debut Oxymoron.

These days Q, is a certified rap star, but that doesn’t mean that he’s lost his knack for the hustle. Just to prove it, Schoolboy hit Times Square in New York to show us that he’s still trying to eat, and sold his album to complete strangers.

Mentally been many places, but I'm Brooklyn's own. Hip-hop gives me life! @RobMarkman

This Is How Summer Will Change When You Go To College

by 13 mins ago

Summer vacay means weekend getaways to the beach, plenty of sunshine, and—most importantly—no school. But summer in high school and summer in college are two very different experiences, and here’s the proof:

(in case you need some background music)

The beginning of summer

In high school:

In college:

Making new friends

In high school:

In college:

Your job

In high school:

In college:

Going to the shore

Your feelings toward afternoon naps

In college:

Your summer fling

In college:

Relaxing at the pool

Nev Threw An iPhone On This Season’s ‘Catfish’…And Other Firsts

by 27 mins ago

This week’s episode of “Catfish” marked a first for the series: After Nev and Max tried to orchestrate two face-to-face meetings between Miranda and Gabby, the latter didn’t show.

But it’s certainly not the only “first” from Season 3. Here’s a look back at some of the most unique moments so far:

First non-romantic storyline: Lucille and Kidd Cole
Lucille didn’t contact the super-sleuths because she had a crush on Kidd — she wanted to uncover the truth about the man who claimed to be a music producer working for Kanye West‘s G.O.O.D. label. She worried that he might be using her for her cash — and sure enough, Kidd turned out to be a con artist.

First phone-throwing: Nev
When the Internet detective couldn’t contain his frustration with Kidd Cole, he tossed the scammer’s iPhone into the Potomac River — and totally showed off his gangsta side.

First time someone was catfished by a family member: Antwane and Carmen
For three years, Antwane thought he was having a relationship with Tony — but he was really talking to his cousin Carmen. The kicker: Carmen was the one who contacted Nev and Max to help her lovesick relative. She later revealed the reason behind her scheming ways: Antwane had once humiliated her by calling her “fat-ass Kelly Price,” and she wanted to turn the tables on him — in front of cameras.

‘Doctor Who’ Is Back With A Premiere Date, A Trailer, And Peter Capaldi

by 31 mins ago

Those of you who have been waiting since 2013′s Black Christmas for a glimmer of hope in the “Doctor Who”-verse can finally rest easy — Peter Capaldi, his eyebrows, and the TARDIS will return for a brand new series of fun and adventure on Saturday, August 23.

Per BBC America’s press release, the Twelfth Doctor’s won’t be the only (relatively) new face on the scene for series eight. Joining Jenna Coleman in companion-land will be Samuel Anderson, who is playing Clara’s coworker Danny Pink. (Great name, obviously.) Though of course, us being visual learners and all, we’re most excited about the new teaser trailer that accompanied the announcement. In the trailer, which again shows the TARDIS on fire (!!), Twelve asks Clara if she thinks that he is a good man.

“I don’t think I know who the Doctor is anymore,” she replies.

… which is great and all, but wasn’t the whole point of the 50th special to get rid of the whole genocide thing that weighed down Doctors Nine, Ten, and Eleven, and usher in a new era of Happy-Who? Either way, we’re so excited that we literally can not breathe and are therefore dying without hope of regeneration.

A real go-getter. Follow Shaunna on Twitter @ShaunnaLMurphy.

Drake’s ‘Draft Day’ Must Have Cleveland Brainwashed: Here’s Why

by 7 mins ago

On Thursday night, the Cleveland Cavaliers selected Andrew Wiggins first overall in the NBA Draft.

Yes, the same Andrew Wiggins that Drake shouted out on “Draft Day.” Yes, the same “Draft Day” where he shouted out Johnny Manziel. Yes, the same Johnny Manziel that was drafted by the Cleveland Browns. What the hell is going on here, Drizzy?

We know you rep Toronto to the fullest, and even show Miami plenty of love — but has Cleveland become your secret favorite destination? It certainly seems that way. Or at least that your lyrics and the city have a very special relationship. Or that the sports franchises there use your rhymes in place of scouts.

Drizzy’s Cleveland blood runs deep. Back in 2011, Drake threw out the first pitch at a Cleveland Indians game. “I’m sort of, just like, an Indians fan,” he said at the time.

He got a little more comfortable in the Midwest city later that year, when he brought out MGK during his Club Paradise Tour.

And then, of course, there was Manziel, a friend of Drizzy’s, getting selected by the Browns in May.

Followed up by the team making him a special offer.

Then, last night, Wiggins — a Canadian native — was drafted by the Cavs.

So what’s up with Drake and Cleveland? Who knows. But whatever the case is, we doubt Cleveland sports fans are upset.

So You Can Basically Buy Neil Patrick Harris On Groupon

by 24 mins ago

Do you want to meet Neil Patrick Harris? Of course you do! That would be legend… Wait for it … OK, that joke is dead. It would be pretty cool, though, right? (DARY!)

Lucky for you, there’s now a Groupon that will allow NPH fans to enter for a chance to meet the star of Broadway’s “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” — while also doing some good.

By donating $10 on Groupon, you’ll be eligible for a contest, the prize of which is a trip to New York City (complete with hotel, food and airfare), a meet and greet with NPH, tix to see “Hedwig” and a few other goodies. All proceeds will go to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

This could be fans’ last chance to see Harris in the role of Hedwig; “Girls” star Andrew Rannells takes over after NPH’s run is done in August.
