‘The Maze Runner’: New Movie Books Make A Run For Your Money

by 12 mins ago

“The Maze Runner,” the movie adaptation of James Dashner’s best selling novel, doesn’t open until September 19. Which means you have plenty of time to prep for the trippy, twisty movie starring “Teen Wolf” hunk Dylan O’Brien, MTV Movie Award winner Will Poulter, and also some other guys we can’t make all about us.

To get you ready to run the maze, Random House (via Delacorte Books for Young Readers) is releasing two volumes on August 5 that tie into the movie. The first is called “Inside The Maze Runner: The Guide To The Glade,” after the home of the amnesiac boys at the center of the story.

The book will include over 100 photos from the movie, details about the whole “Maze Runner” series, and profiles on the characters and actors.

The second is a re-release of the novel that started it all, “The Maze Runner,” with a new trade dress copying the poster for the movie. As you might be able to read (hopefully, if you’re thinking about picking up books, you can read. Also if you are reading this), the novel now comes packaged with stickers and photos from the movie.

And though it doesn’t have a movie tie-in, the four book series will be released in a box set on July 8. You’ll be able to pick up all of these in finer book stores near you, and stay tuned for plenty more “Maze Runner” as we get closer to the September premiere!

5 Reasons Why Ariana Grande’s Big Brother Is Already Winning ‘Big Brother’

by 7 mins ago

In case you missed it, birthday girl Ariana Grande rang in her 21st with a particularly emotionally gratifying night of television (the only real way to celebrate) last night (June 25). Her older brother, Frankie, made his “Big Brother” season 16 debut, and totally pulled a number on us all by winning the first competition of the season, and becoming the official “Head of Household.”

“Holy s— he won hoh i’m a mess,” Grande tweeted. “He needs to form another alliance immediately.”

But even before Frankie won the HoH competition by standing on a moving log in his underwear while being repeatedly squirted in the eyes with sunscreen (if this sounds strange to you, you clearly haven’t been watching enough “Big Brother”), he won our hearts by somehow not being the most annoying contestant introduced last night. Heck, he wasn’t even in the top five! So to celebrate the lovable Frankie and his birthday girl sister, here are some reasons why he might win season 16 of “Big Brother”:

He Has His Sister’s Twitter Army On His Side
Last season on “Big Brother,” an MVP twist earned the ire of many when the sister of popular player Rachel Reilly, Elissa Slater, won every week due to her sister’s loyal following. We don’t have that twist this year, but there is a “Team America” twist where three players will be voted into a secret, fan-controlled group that will go on “secret missions” for the show. Something tells us that Ariana’s very large and loyal ...

Demi Lovato Waves Her Pride Flag With Some Famous Friends In ‘Really Don’t Care’: Watch Now

by 7 mins ago

Demi Lovato promised her video for “Really Don’t Care” would be a “celebration” and she wasn’t kidding.

The singer brought her pop-power anthem to life by taking over Los Angeles’ Gay Pride Parade on June 8 to sing with the crowd, party with her friends and brush off all those haters.

The video opens with Demi telling the crowd that a protester at the parade “has a burn in hell poster’ and that “you don’t have to hate because my Jesus loves all.”

The pop star, dressed in leather with rainbow hair, then opens with her song as she marches down the parade on a float as LGBT supporters surround her dancing, celebrating and proudly belting out the lyrics.

But the thousands in the crowd weren’t the only ones stealing scenes. Demi promised MTV News to watch out for a special guest, but in fact there were several. Taking a page out of her lyric video, Demi’s famous friends, including Perez Hilton, “Vampire Diaries” star Kat Graham, her rumored boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, all sang and posed for the camera. Cher Lloyd also made an appearance as well, spitting out her sassy verse on the song.

Yet, that “badass” moment that Demi was teasing us about had to be when she enlisted Blink 182′s Travis Barker to bring his drumming skills to the song. Demi belts out the end of the song, surrounded by fans, friends and supporters of her strong message.

Move Aside Nerdz, I Crush At This Kim Kardashian Game

by 28 mins ago

I may not be a gamer, but I’ve been known to drive a few warthogs, shoot some portals and unleash my fair share of banana peels at Yoshi. So, you know, pretty advanced. Needless to say, I killed it at this new Kim Kardashian game she released on Wednesday.

So far, I’ve reached level 5 on “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood” and I’ve already met Kim K, signed with an agent and had my own photo shoot. Oh yeah, and I flirted with this girl’s boyfriend and she is PISSED.

Can you shoot needlers? No. Can you hear Steve Madden in the background? No. Can you match orange candies together? No. And thank goodness.

Here’s what you can, and what I did do:

Ditch My Boring Job In Retail
But make sure you fold those clothes first.

Because what would you if she showed up to your boutique?

Don’t forget to pick the cash off the floor when you achieve your goals, like meeting someone or changing your clothes.

‘Orange Is The New Black’ Star Reveals Fruity Origins of Handy-J Success

by 1 min ago

It would be very easy for us to be immature about this, but: “Orange is the New Black” has some tricks up their prison jumper sleeves when it comes to bringing authenticity to the jailed-up drama. Like, say, how to make a faux-handy-J done in secrecy in a closet come to life on your Netflix screen. The trick is utilizing just the right sort of props.

And if you’ve ever been in a middle school sex ed class, their answer shouldn’t surprise you. MTV spoke to Matt McGorry, a.k.a. Bennett, to get the scoop (or should we say peel? No? OK that’s fine), while on the red carpet of Logo TV’s “Trailblazers” special.

I mean, it is a very handy way to utilize craft services, we’ll give them that. But we’re not so sure McGorry should be putting it on his Cheerios afterwards.

“Trailblazers,” a one-hour show honoring pioneers in the fight for LGBT equality will premiere on June 26 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Too much exuberance for one person. Follow her on Twitter @alicialutes.

‘Catfish’ Detective Nev Schulman’s Top Digital Dating Tips: Less Emojis, More Face Time

by 18 mins ago

Nev Schulman is offering expert advice on how to navigate the rocky roads of online dating.

The Internet detective, who has coached and guided legions of the lovesick on “Catfish,” bestowed his wisdom during a Facebook chat with Glamour magazine. Tops on his list of do’s and don’ts: If you’re interested in someone, don’t delay arranging some face time.

“Meet up ASAP,” Nev said. “If somebody is serious about pursuing a relationship, they will make the effort to see you.”

His next “don’t” is a biggie — mainly because it involves that smartphone feature we’re all guilty of overusing.

“If you want a guy to show you he likes you, don’t text with him,” Nev said. “Tell him if he wants to see you, he simply has to come and find you.”

He also isn’t a fan of emojis. “Use them sparingly,” said Nev, whose upcoming book, “In Real Life,” explores what he’s learned about digital dating.

Another tip: Googling, or searching for your prospective paramour on social media, is crucial — or as his co-host Max Joseph calls it, “digital contraception.”

Most of all, Nev shared, don’t do online dating — do real life dating. It’ll keep both parties honest, and intentions will be much more clear.

“Typing ‘I love you’ is much easier than looking someone in the eyes and telling them,” he said. And ultimately, all affairs of the heart need work, whether they started online or not. “Every relationship takes work and compromise.”

Do you have any dating ...

Exclusive ‘Life After Beth’ Trailer: Aubrey Plaza Searches For Love, Brains

by 31 mins ago

Sometimes when a pop culture trend seems played out, a movie comes along that pumps new life into it, and “Life After Beth,” a Sundance Film Festival favorite starring Dane DeHaan and Aubrey Plaza, definitely brings more than just the zombie movie back to life.

And MTV has the exclusive premiere of the first trailer for “Life After Beth.”

In the film, DeHaan plays Zach Orfman, a guy mourning the unexpected death of his girlfriend Beth (Plaza). If you picked up on the fact that this is a “zombie movie” up above, you probably know what’s coming next.

Zach discovers that Beth has come back to life, and they are able to pick up their relationship where it had been cut short — with a few small changes. Namely, Beth is now a zombie, and she has to do zombie things, like eat people.

It’s a funny take on a familiar concept, but even just watching the trailer, you get the sense that there’s more going on here than a cute set-up.

Not only do the performances look great — John C. Reilly and Molly Shannon stand out as Beth’s parents — there’s an opportunity for some clever relationship commentary as Zach begins to drift from the recently resurrected Beth.

The film also stars Anna Kendrick, Alia Shawkat, Cheryl Hines and Paul Reiser.

“Life After Beth” opens in theaters on August 15, premieres exclusively on DirecTV on July 17 and will screen as a part of the Sundance Next Fest in ...

Shane Black’s ‘Predator’ Reboot Is Actually A Sequel… But To What?

by 8 mins ago

As previously reported, Shane Black (along with partner/co-writer Fred Dekker) is rebooting the “Predator” series for FOX. Except, it turns out, the movie isn’t a reboot at all: it’s a sequel.

Collider reached out to director Black to find out more, and got the following quote: “As far as Fred and I are concerned anyway, why start over, when you’ve all this rich mythology yet to mine?”

Which is all fine and good, but begs a major question: exactly which “Predator” movie is the Black film going to be a sequel to? Because, in case you weren’t aware, there have been several attempts to rejuvenate the franchise, all with varying results.

With that in mind, here’s every possibility of what the new “Predator” could be a sequel to:

“Predator 2″
1990′s “Predator 2″ starred Danny Glover, who also anchored Shane Black’s “Lethal Weapon” series. It’s the last film set on Earth in the main “Predator” continuity and probably the last movie in the series casual fans truly remember. The movie ends with Glover’s LAPD officer taking down one of the alien hunters and getting ready for their eventual return. Pal Glover up with the only survivor of the original, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and you have a blockbuster return for the series everyone would salivate for.

“Predators”
Technically the next film in the series, the Robert Rodriguez-directed 2010 movie takes place on an alien planet the Predators use as a game preserve and ends with a cliffhanger as Adrien Brody and Alice Braga manage to ...

Niall Horan In ‘A Lot Of Pain’ After Fan’s Shoe Hit His Knee At Concert

by 29 mins ago

One Direction’s Niall Horan is in “a lot of pain” after an object struck him in the knee during a concert in Amsterdam.

Niall was caught on camera by a fan during the Where We Are Tour stop on Thursday hobbling across the stage clearly favoring his knee, on which he had surgery back in January.

Shortly after the show, Niall took to Twitter to thank the Amsterdam crowd for their support, but to kindly ask them to stop throwing things onstage.

The hashtag #feelbetterniall trended on Twitter, with more photos going around of the incident. It appears that a shoe struck Niall, ripping his pants, and causing his knee to bleed. Ouch!

But Niall wasn’t the only one struck by flying objects, Harry also caught a pretty hard shot to the face, but shook it off and kept on singing.

Lil Wayne Continues Carter V Tease With ‘Krazy’ Snippet: Check It Out

by 1 min ago

Lil Wayne is such a tease. Over the course of 18 viral “Weezy Wednesdays” episodes, the Young Money boss has been setting the stage for his upcoming album Tha Carter V, releasing snippets of songs and announcing ancillary albums.

And while there is still no release date for the album in sight, last night Wayne dropped another breadcrumb, with just a small preview of his new song “Krazy.”

The 33-second video opens with the usual “Weezy Wednesdays” bumper before the song’s sparse and haunting synth beat drops. Wayne doesn’t give us more than just a few seconds of the Infamous-produced instrumental, but he does drop some cool single art.

First we see a prescription sheet signed by “Dr. Carter,” one of Wayne’s many aliases, then we see a prescription bottle of pills with the song title written on the label. The logo for Tha Carter V appears throughout, so it’s safe to assume that whenever we get the album, this one will be on it.

Mentally been many places, but I'm Brooklyn's own. Hip-hop gives me life! @RobMarkman
