Shaun White Bails On Slopestyle At Sochi Olympics, Gets Taunted By Canadians

Shaun White is still going for the gold at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. But when competition kicks off on Thursday he'll only be snowboarding in one event instead of two. The two-time defending gold medalist in halfpipe announced on Wednesday (February 5) that he was bailing on the inaugural run of slopestyle at the games.

"After much deliberation with my team, I have made the decision to focus solely on trying to bring home the third straight gold medal in halfpipe for Team USA," White said in a statement. "The difficult decision to forego slopestyle is not one I take lightly as I know how much effort everyone has put into holding the slopestyle event for the first time in Olympic history, a history I had planned on being a part being a part of."

And while White was one of the biggest advocates for including the event — which includes jumps and rails scattered across a downhill section of mountain — his statement said he was pulling out because the potential risk for injury on the course was too high. White, who has endured a series of nagging injuries during qualifying, was going to be the only U.S. athlete competing in both slopestyle and halfpipe.

The man formerly known as the "Flying Tomato" endured some not so gentle taunts from his Canadian competitors in light of the news. "Mr. White ... It's easy to find excuses to pull out of a contest when you think you can't win," wrote rival Sebastien Toutant, who took slopestyle gold ...

Lorde, Bruno Mars Or Daft Punk: Who Got The Biggest Grammy Sales Bump?

Sure, winning a Grammy is cool because you get a shiny gold gramophone to put on the mantle. But then a week later you get the real prize (if you're lucky): a huge sales bump.

And that's exactly what happened to the biggest winners at last week's event, with albums by Lorde, Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons getting double-, and in the case of the Album of the Year-winning robot duo, triple-digit increases thanks to the Grammy love.

You Can't Stop The Robots

After locking down Album and Record of the Year
, along with three other Grammys, Daft Punk had the second biggest leap on the Billboard 200, with Random Access Memories moving up 29 spots to #10. Sales exploded by 300 percent to 30,000, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan, helping push the album within spitting distance of platinum status.

The second-biggest bump was enjoyed by Best Pop Vocal Album winner and Super Bowl halftime

performer Mars, whose Unorthodox Jukebox moved up 11 slots to #7 as sales shot up by 303 percent to 42,000 after selling around 15,000 the week before.

Mars got an immediate Super Bowl bump on iTunes after putting on the most-watched halftime show ever. Not only did Orthodox shoot back to #1 on the iTunes album tally (ending the full reporting week at #2), but his debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, also briefly rebounded to #3. Doo-Wops was up 303 percent and 63 spots on the Billboard chart, selling another 16,000 copies. Mars also landed more than a dozen songs on the iTunes ...

Clay Aiken Running For Congress: See His Campaign Video

Clay Aiken is going from singer to politician.

On Wednesday (February 4), the former "American Idol" contestant announced in a campaign video, "Open Door," that he will be running for Congress from North Carolina.

The video begins with Aiken reflecting on his childhood and revealing that his mother sought out refuge from his abusive father at a friend's house.

"So much of who I am was shaped in those early years, and it's part of why I decided to run for Congress," Aiken said. "For most Americans, there are no golden tickets — at least not like the kind you see on TV. More families are struggling today than at any time in our history, and here in North Carolina, we've suffered more than our share of pain."

The political hopeful highlighted some of his offstage achievements, focusing on his work as a special education teacher and as an Ambassador for UNICEF. He also worked with President George Bush, where he addressed educational challenges of children with special needs.

"That was when I first realized that our problems won't be solved by only one party or the other," Aiken said. "Instead, it's going to require all of us."

Aiken is hoping to unseat second-term Rep. Renee Ellmers and will most likely face professional counselor Toni Morris and the state's commerce secretary, Keith Crisco, in the Democratic primary.

"I'm not a politician — I don't ever want to be one, but I do want to help bring back, at least to my corner of North Carolina, the idea that someone can go to Washington to ...

Paul Walker’s Entire Estate Will Go To His Daughter

Paul Walker, the late star of the film franchise, has left his entire estate to his 15-year-old daughter, Meadow, according to new reports.

TheWrap.com states that Walker's entire estate, valued at $25 million, has been left to daughter Meadow, as outlined in the actor's last will and testament, filed on January 28 in Santa Barbara. Walker's father has been named executor of the estate, and his mother has been named Meadow's guardian. The "Fast and Furious" franchise "will continue to generate residuals to the estate," according to TheWrap.com report.

Walker died in a single-car accident in California last November. He was the passenger in a vehicle operated by his friend and business partner Roger Rodas, also killed in the accident. Walker was on break from shooting "The Fast and Furious 7" during his death, attending a charity event in the hours before the fatal accident. Universal halted production on the "Fast and Furious" sequel in light of Walker's death, postponing the film's release date and stopping down to reconceive the film in a way that would honor the late actor.

In January, a new "Fast and Furious" release date was revealed: April 10, 2015. Furthermore, it was reported that director James Wan, writer Chris Morgan and Universal's Jeffrey Kirschenbaum arrived at the decision to , former police officer Brian O'Conner, through a combination of reshoots, new scenes and existing footage of Walker.

‘Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D’ Rises As Skye Falls

Clark Gregg's comments about fans who abandon "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." being "losers" make a bit more sense now, considering the high levels of awesome experienced on this week's episode.

Titled "T.R.A.C.K.S.," the latest round of "S.H.I.E.L.D." saw the fall of two heroes and the rise of a new villain. The hero-turned-villain is none other than Mike Peterson, the Extremis-powered S.H.I.E.L.D. trainee thought dead in a recent explosion. Instead, he's been corrupted by the mysterious Clairvoyant and put on the path to becoming Deathlok, a dangerous cyborg from Marvel Comics lore.

Peterson's transformation is far from complete; as of now, he only boasts a cybernetic leg with a "Project: Deathlok" emblem, and the ocular Backscatter implant implemented by the Centipede group. Will we get to see a full-blown, green-skinned, red-tights Deathlok at some point down the line? That remains to be seen, but for now, the arrival of Deathlok is a step in the right direction for die-hard Marvel fans.

Even more important, however, is what "T.R.A.C.K.S." pulled off with its main cast. From Coulson all the way down to FitzSimmons and everyone in between, all of the series regulars had moments to shine. There was levity (Coulson's reaction to Simmons' "prostitutes" accusation was priceless), there was romance (May and Ward's relationship is starting to feel more earned, while Fitz's schoolboy crush on Skye became even more apparent) and there was badassery aplenty (May taking out her interrogators, Ward head-shotting every bad guy in his path, even Fitz putting a villain to sleep with uncharacteristic ruthlessness).

There was heartbreak, too, as ...
