One Direction Are Going To The Movies: How Big Will ‘This Is Us’ Be?

One Direction made history when Up All Night debuted at #1 last year. Now, the first British group to have their first album debut at the top of the Billboard charts has their sights set on #1 somewhere else: the box office.

Fresh off their Best Song of the Summer win for "Best Song Ever" at last weekend's Video Music Awards, the boys from 1D have debuted "One Direction: This is Us" in North American theaters. The film blends backstage moments and concert footage, captured by "Supersize Me!" documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock and produced by Simon Cowell, who put 1D together.

Sixty-eight percent of Fandango's ticket sales were for "This Is Us" on Thursday, with 98 percent of those going to females. Industry analysts are predicting a four-day weekend in the neighborhood of $22 million for the 3-D flick, less than the $31.1 million three-day opening for Miley Cyrus' 2008 3-D concert movie, "Best of Both Worlds." It should also trail behind concert films from the late Michael Jackson and 2011's "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never."

However that $22 million (ish) should be enough to swipe the #1 spot, unless two-time champion "Lee Daniels' The Butler" edges out Niall, Zayn, Liam, Louis and Harry. The historical drama debuted at #1 and held onto the top spot during its second weekend, fending off the likes of horror flick "You're Next" and franchise wannabe "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones."

If "The Butler" had the $15.1 million four-day weekend projected by BoxOfficeMojo.com and the Los Angeles Times, it should be smooth sailing for ...

Wiz And Amber Talk Marriage And Miley In First Post-Wedding Interview

Two weeks after their secret wedding
in Pennsylvania, Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa finally shared some details of their blessed day on Thursday during their first post-nuptials interview.

"It was better than I thought it was gonna be," Amber told Hot 97's Angie Martinez about the blessed day. "It was beautiful. I'm so proud of my baby for what she did," added Wiz. "She put all of that together and everybody's ranting and raving over every little detail about it. Those things didn't happen on their own, she did it."

And yeah, Khalifa cried during the ceremony, while Amber said she cried walking down the aisle, during the ceremony and at the reception. For now, there's no honeymoon because Khalifa is working on his next album. In fact, he said he was in the studio the day after the wedding working on tracks. "Thank you for letting me work," he said to Rose. "I'm working on my album, Blacc Hollywood."

With love clearly in full bloom ("I don't think you understand how much I love this man" Amber gushed), the pair also talked about their good friend, Miley Cyrus, and her now legendary performance at the VMAs. Though she was secretive about the details, Amber also revealed that she's now being managed by Miley's mom, Tish and is working on a non-musical project with her best friend, Priscilla Ono.

"Young, wild and free," Wiz said in describing Cyrus' twerk-tastic VMA moment. "You gotta let people do what they wanna do." Amber said the couple love Cyrus, ...

Beyonce Dips, Dives And Screams During Video Shoot

A day at the beach for Beyoncé is not like a day at the beach for the rest of us. When Mrs. Carter rolls up at Coney Island in Brooklyn, sure, she rides the Cyclone while wearing a Biggie hat and a bunch of gold chains. And sure she gets the front car every time, but that's because she's mixing business with pleasure and filming a new music video.

According to reports, the singer spent the day at the seaside amusement part on Thursday enjoying some down time with stylist Ty Hunter and some of her dancers, while shooting footage for a video for an unnamed song for her upcoming, as-yet-unscheduled album.

Check out photos of Bey riding Coney Island's Cyclone coaster!

Wearing jeans, a white tank with a black bra underneath and the B.I.G. snapback, Bey spent nearly an hour on the ride with a couple dozen extras, according to E! News. Several hundred people gathered to watch the shoot and get a glimpse of the star as she laughed and threw her hands in the air on the 86-year-old coaster. The New York Daily News reported that famed fashion photographer Terry Richardson was directing the clip.

A spokesperson for Beyoncé could not be reached for comment at press time about the shoot or where the footage will be used.

This isn't the first time this month that Queen B has gotten her amusement park on. Two weeks ago while on a break from playing at the V Festival Beyoncé hit the coasters in England.

‘Ender’s Game’: Will It Help The Young Stars Follow Their Breakout Roles?

The two stars of "Ender's Game," Gavin Hood's upcoming adaptation of the beloved book, have something unique in common. Both Asa Butterfield and Hailee Steinfeld are two young actors, who are just now following up their breakout roles in films by revered directors — Martin Scorse's "Hugo" and the Coen brothers' "True Grit," respectively.

When MTV News' spoke with them at San Diego Comic-Con, the two actors explained what it's like to follow up their first big films with something like "Ender's Game," which is a part of our Fall Movie Preview.

"For me, there isn't much that could follow up 'Hugo,' " Butterfield said to MTV News' Josh Horowitz, "but 'Ender's Game' does it."

Steinfeld had a surprisingly similar experience with "Ender's Game" as she had had with "True Grit," since her characters in both films were highly sought-after parts. "I think it has a lot to do with everyone involved loving the story," she said. "For me, 'Ender's Game' came along in sort of the same way that 'True Grit' did. You feel fortunate that something that great has come your way. You fall in love with it. I'm so proud to be a part of it."

The pressure of "Ender's Game" came not only from adapting a beloved book, but acting across from a movie legend, Harrison Ford. Butterfield said that, of course, he was nervous, but in the end, it was a rewarding experience. "I think everyone was nervous," he said. "When I first got to work with him, it was near the start of shooting. I was, as ...

One Direction Say They’re Less ‘Teenage Dirtbag,’ More ‘Grimy’

Much to the delight of teenage girls all over the world, One Direction have frequently covered Wheatus' 2000 hit, "Teenage Dirtbag," in concert. And on Friday (August 30) they are taking that cover to the big screen in their Morgan Spurlock-directed documentary/concert film, .

During one of the more memorable concert scenes, the fivesome are re-imagined to look like comic book superheroes, thanks to some animated costumes, as they belt out the classic ode to crushing on a hot girl who doesn't know you exist. And, if you ask Niall Horan what he thinks of that particular sequence, he'll tell you "it's great."

Harry Styles then explained how the scene came to make it into the final cut of the flick, which gives fans an inside look at what it's like to be in 1D as they travel the globe from concert stop to concert stop, while also trying to have as normal of lives as they possibly can.

Styles said, "I think basically what happened was on our tour screens, it was all like comic book [looking] in the back. Someone decided to put it in, and it stayed."

With that sequence explained, Liam Payne then broke down why the fivesome are such big fans of the track and why they love to cover it live. "It suited us as well," he said. "We're just teenage lads having... while we're not saying we're dirtbags, but we're grimy characters."

Of course, these days the guys love a whole slew of other songs as well. They shared with MTV News what songs they ...

Fergie Gives Birth

Fergie is officially a mom! The Black Eyed Peas singer gave birth to her son, Axl Jack Duhamel, on Thursday (August 29), her rep confirmed.

It is the first child for the singer and her actor husband, Josh Duhamel. The couple married in January 2009 and after years of speculation about Fergie's midsection, the couple first announced the pregnancy back in February. They made the announcement via social media, telling fans, "Josh & Me & BABY makes three!! #mylovelybabybump!" Then in July, during an appearance on "Live With Kelly and Michael," Duhamel confirmed that the couple was expecting a baby boy.

Back in March, the singer opened up about becoming a mom for the first time, telling "Good Morning America," "I know that my husband told everybody what I said. My quote when we found out — 'This 'blank' just got real,'" she said. "But it's true. When that moment occurs to you, there's going to be a human being growing inside of you ... it's reality. It's amazing, we're thrilled."

In October 2010, at the premiere of his family-themed dramedy "Life as We Know It," Duhamel said that Fergie would be a great mom, eventually. Fergie "[is] not afraid of children; she just hasn't had as much experience with little ones. She's great with kids when they grow up a little bit more, when she can interact with them," he said.

Meanwhile, his co-star Katherine Heigl gave Josh a rave review. "Oh my God! The best of the best! He's fantastic," Heigl said at the time. "He's ...

Daniel Radcliffe Is ‘Ready To Go To The Next Level,’ Says ‘Tokyo Vice’ Director

Anthony Mandler's worked with the likes of Beyoncé, Rihanna and Jay Z during his 13 years as a music video director, and now he'll add an erstwhile boy wizard to his star-powered roster.

The auteur's next film project is the thriller "Tokyo Vice," which starring former "Harry Potter" lead Daniel Radcliffe. When MTV News caught up with Mandler at Sunday's Video Music Awards — he directed VMA-nominated videos "Carry On" (Fun.), "I Knew You Were Trouble" (Taylor Swift) and "Come & Get It" (Selena Gomez) — the helmer explained more about the project and Radcliffe's role.

"It's called 'Tokyo Vice.' It's written by Jake Adelstein," Mandler said. "It takes place in Tokyo. It's about an American that becomes a reporter at the Tokyo Times, and he breaks an incredible story about the Yakuza and about the reality of what it means to do that in regards to his safety and his life and whether it's actually worth it to bring the world that truth. It's very much like a '70s kind of thriller. So far it's been incredible. We're writing the script now. We're looking to start next year."

Radcliffe's been tackling increasingly mature roles in films like "Kill Your Darlings," "Horns" and "The F Word" since graduating from Hogwarts in 2011, and Mandler said "Tokyo Vice" is the next logical step in this progression.

"I think he's absolutely ready to go to the next level," Mandler said. "We sat down a couple of times and had some incredible meetings. His take on the work and on the book is right in ...

Jay Z Premieres Moody, Massive ‘Holy Grail’ Video

Jay Z's really taking this #newrules thing to heart. Having already released his album on Samsung phones and partnered with Budweiser on the Made in America festival, he's now joined forces with Facebook for the exclusive (for 24 hours, at least) premiere of his "Holy Grail" video ... not even collaborator Justin Timberlake's allegiances to MySpace could change his mind.

And Jay didn't stop there. Because while "Holy Grail" is most certainly a video befitting of its two marquee stars — big and beautiful, full of cinematic flourishes like flames, ghostly dancers and glass shattering in slow-motion, played out on massive sets and bathed in moody lighting — it also has the artful audacity to try something entirely new: Namely, mess with the source material.

In this case, that means the song, which folks seem to like very much in its current form (it's a fixture in Billboard's Hot 100 Top 10). But in the hands of Hov and director Anthony Mandler, "Holy Grail" becomes little more than a narrative device. They re-arrange verses and repeatedly slow the track down until it practically stops entirely, stretching Timberlake's vocals to the breaking point and adding extra heft to Jay's little verses. It's a trick that gives the entire video a colossal, almost monolithic weight ... the scenes feel massive, glacial. They do not move so much as the slowly drift, filling the viewer with a subtle, yet palpable sense of the magnitude of not just the track's stars, but its subject matter, too.

It would be easier to ...
