‘Catching Fire’: How Sam Claflin Captured Finnick’s ‘Sexual Tension’

SAN DIEGO isn't even completely finished yet and Francis Lawrence is already thinking ahead. The director told MTV News at San Diego Comic-Con that although he's only just about to lock down a final cut of the "Hunger Games" sequel, he is juggling those duties with pre-production on the final two films.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, though — "Catching Fire" is going to be great. "I'm really satisfied with the movie," Lawrence said. "The people who have seen it have really responded to it. I think it's really emotional; I think the scope is growing in the right way. In terms of it being a steppingstone to the third and the fourth movie, it's really working. I think the performances are really great — I love the original cast; I love the new cast. I'm excited by a lot of it."

In particular, Lawrence says he was pleased by Sam Claflin's performance as fan favorite character Finnick Odair, the heartthrob tribute who returns to the Hunger Games in the Quarter Quell. "Finnick's an interesting character. At first he feels like a bit of a flirt and there's a little bit of sexual tension, but really you kind of fall in love with the guy and you see that there's a real deep emotional side to him," he Lawrence said. "It's one of the reasons I really hired him in the first place was that it's where his character goes in the next couple of stories and I just think he did a fantastic ...

‘Age Of Ultron’ Revealed: Watch Chris Evans Learn The ‘Avengers 2’ Title

SAN DIEGO — How do you keep a secret like Ultron? Don't tell anyone.

Or only those that truly need to know. That's how Marvel Studios and director Joss Whedon were able to roll into San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday night armed with the still-secret title of their "Avengers" sequel and break the news to a rapid crowd in Hall H. And that's how, minutes later, MTV News was able to reveal the name — — to Chris Evans himself.

Not even Captain America knew. That's how you keep a massive piece of Hollywood news secret.

"Who's Ultron?" Evans asked once we revealed the title, turning to costar Scarlett Johansson and asking again, "Who's Ultron?"

Johansson was equally in the dark, wondering aloud if she'd still be stepping into the skintight suit of Black Widow. "They keep us in a container," she cracked. "Who do I play?"

The two actors have got some time to get up to speed. "Age of Ultron" doesn't hit theaters until 2015. For now, they're concentrating on their superhero sequel coming out next year — a movie that Evans suggests will be much more character-driven than past Marvel flicks.

"In the early 'Iron Man' movies, the Cap movie, even 'The Avengers,' you didn't really get a lot of time with the characters individually. And I think both characters — Black Widow and Capt — have some depth to them," he explained. "They both have trust issues. They both, as Scarlett said, have been working for other people for a really long time."

Evans added, ...

‘Ultron’ Teaser And More: A Deep Dive Into Comic-Con Footage

Marvel Studios have become the kings of the big Hall H panel at Comic-Con for a reason, and it's because they give the fans what they want. Diehards lined up the night before with hopes of first looks at the upcoming slate, and the superhero house went above and beyond to bring it to them.

Clips from and — despite being only 13 days into filming — all played to the crowd, before Joss Whedon took to the stage to play a teaser for

MTV was there to catch it all, so here's our rundown of what we saw.

"Avengers: Age of Ultron"
The most unexpected footage of the night came from "Avengers" director Joss Whedon, who took the stage at the very end of the panel, not to say something, but "add something." The room then went dark. Sparks floated onto the screen before Iron Man's mask took up the frame. Audio clips from "The Avengers" played as an ambiguous piece of machinery morphed into the metallic head of Ultron, one of the most storied villains in the history of the superhero team.

The title of the sequel then appeared on the screen. "Avengers: The Age of Ultron" will be in theaters May 1, 2015.

"Thor: The Dark World"
Our new look at the "Thor" sequel was introduced by Loki himself— well, Tom Hiddleston doing his very best to warm the crowd up in character. (That man deserves an honorary Oscar.) The footage began with a short battle sequence featuring the Sif and Warriors Three. Thor shows up, ...

‘Catching Fire’: Inside The Scene That Scared Josh Hutcherson The Most

SAN DIEGO — Josh Hutcherson spent most of his time on the set either starving, flirting or dying. The craft service table had to be avoided to get into the wetsuit costumes newly revealed in the Quarter Quell character posters. There was the Peeta-Katniss-Gale triangle to contend with, plus a particularly difficult death scene.

But first and foremost, everybody in the cast and crew had to deal with Jennifer Lawrence's Academy Award.

"She made us, everyday, call her 'Jennifer, the Oscar Winning Actress,'" Hutcherson deadpanned at San Diego Comic-Con. "Every morning. The whole crew. I would have probably done the same, though, if I were her. [But] she's not growing up. We're working on it. Everyday is a new challenge."

Hutcherson (who has, at least, won an MTV Movie Award) also noted the jealousy surrounding new cast member Sam Caflin, who joined "The Hunger Games" as, in the words of one teen magazine, the series' "newest post-apocalyptic stud."

"[Jennifer] was jealous that he was flirting with me," Hutcherson quipped. "No, no, it was nice. Sam was awesome. It was really nice to add in some new cast members and we had a good time."

It wasn't all fun and games, of course. "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" required a lot from its cast, both physically and mentally. Hutcherson told MTV News about the scene that was hardest for him to wrap his head around. "Honestly the scene I was most concerned about was the scene when I get shocked by the electric force-field," he confessed. "I had never died ...

‘Divergent’ Stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James Could Probably Kick Your Ass

SAN DIEGOShailene Woodley and Theo James did use talented stunt doubles for some scenes in their new movie, an adaptation of a YA novel set in dystopian future Chicago, but in a lot of the action sequences were filmed by the actors themselves. That's thanks in part to the realistic approach director Neil Burger took to the movie.

"I can say as a director that both of these guys brought such strength to the action. There's a lot of fighting in the movie," Burger told MTV News at San Diego Comic-Con. In the Chicago of "Divergent," society is divided into five factions based on personality traits like intelligence and honesty. Woodley's Tris is a teenage girl who transfers from her home faction of Abnegation (selfless) to Dauntless (fearless). James plays her Dauntless mentor (turned-love interest), which means the two of them spent plenty of time training and fighting together.

"I say that Theo's kind of a combination of Paul Newman and Bruce Lee. He can really fight," Burger said. "Shai is not scared of anything and also did some fighting. [She] climbed on top of all sorts of crazy things — 75-foot tall ledges — and did all sorts of crazy stuff. I was trying to keep everything as real as possible, which made them have to be involved in everything and do it for real — and they did it."

Woodley said that one of her favorite scenes to shoot involved a huge fight sequence during the climax of the movie. "Toward the end of ...

‘X-Men’ At Comic-Con: Everything To Know About The Mind-Blowing Panel

SAN DIEGO — X-Men from a Sentinel-controlled future and the mop-haired 1970s converge in "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Here in the real world, or the better version of it that exists at San Diego Comic-Con, a huge gang of mutant-loving actors — stretching back to 2000's "X-Men" through 2011's "X-Men: First Class" — surprised the crowd at Hall H.

They were rewarded for their visit with at least three different standing ovations.

The Fox panel was scheduled to include "The Wolverine" and next year's "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes." But "X-Men" stole the show. "I was here when 'The Avengers' [first] lined up," said moderator Geoff Boucher. "This is bigger."

Bryan Singer and three of the film's producers were joined by Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Halle Berry, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore and newcomers Evan Peters (Quicksilver), Peter Dinklage (Bolivar Trask) and Omar Sy, who confirmed he's playing future-man Bishop.

The rowdy cast brought a playful, fun-loving and greatly appreciative vibe. McKellen noted that he felt "safe" in California "now that you've gotten rid of Proposition 8." The crowd roared in support. "I'm looking for a husband," said the elder Magneto, looking in the direction of his youthful counterpart. "Hello, Michael."

Amour was in the air, as Berry lamented the lack of love interests for Storm. Acknowledging that the Hall H crowd undoubtedly has a mastery of the character, she asked, "Is Storm asexual or something?" ("Forge!" fans yelled).

Stewart did point out one advantage Berry has over the rest of ...

‘Catching Fire’ Panel: Jennifer Lawrence’s Snotty Kiss And More Sexy Facts

SAN DIEGO — Moviemaking is a glamorous business. Just ask star Josh Hutcherson, who was on the receiving end of a Jennifer Lawrence snot bomb during one particularly slobbery day of filming their new "Hunger Games" sequel.

Hutcherson and Lawrence relayed the story to the enormous crowd gathered at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday for the franchise's first-ever panel in Hall H, the Con's largest room. While the cast and crowd seemed pretty impressed with the debut of the latest trailer, Lawrence suggested an alternative to the officially sanctioned new footage.

"Oh my god, we should've brought that clip with the snot," she exclaimed when asked a question about how hot the kissing scenes in the new movie will be.

Apparently things got super sexy while filming a pivotal mouth-to-mouth scene. "In the resuscitation there was a kiss and there was slobber, and the slobber sort of got connected to my face," Hutcherson explained. "It will be very hot."

Just because the snot scene (probably) won't make the final cut doesn't mean you won't get a chance to see the disgusting glory for yourself. "I'll put it on YouTube or something," Lawrence said. "You gotta see it. There's all this snot coming out of my nose, and when I go to kiss Josh, it connects with his mouth."

Here are a few more (much less gross) things we learned from the panel, which also included costars Liam Hemsworth, Lenny Kravitz, Willow Shields, newbies Jena Malone and Jeffrey Wright, and director Frances Lawrence:

Sam Claflin, Sex God
Fan-favorite character Finnick Odair makes his ...
