‘Divergent’ Trailer Unleashed On Comic-Con: Here’s What We Saw

Shailene Woodley does a lot of jumping in the first trailer for "San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday (July 18), giving the cavernous Hall H glimpses of Beatrice Prior's transition from a quiet, selfless teenager to daredevil heroine in a future Chicago where society is divided into groups based on personality traits.

Much like the trailers for another dystopian YA novel adaptation, "The Hunger Games," the footage focuses on the beginning of Tris' journey as she and her fellow initiates catch the train to their new home. As any book fan knows, it's not a typical train trip — the train doesn't actually stop.

The clip shows a plain-looking Beatrice, clad in multiple shades of grey (not sure how many, didn't have time to count), as she volunteers to be the first to blindly jump off of a large building and enter her new home. It isn't until she lands on the net at the bottom (surprise! not dead!) that she meets her sexy new mentor/love interest, Four (Theo James).

We see Tris and the gang begin their training, learning how to fight and do other assorted tough-guy things. Despite the fact that we didn't actually see much of Tris and Four interacting, their chemistry was evident. Tris and Four's relationship begins much like many other great love stories, with Four yanking her off a safety net, adjusting her form while fighting and throwing knives at her face.

There are brief clips of some of the film's other action — the initiates crowd-surfing in the Dauntless mess hall, the needle injecting Tris ...

Why Did ‘Divergent’ Star Theo James Ditch Brit Accent For Entire Shoot?

SAN DIEGO— Aside from a few stills and MTV News' own visit, only a handful of people have seen anything from the set of "

When MTV News' Josh Horowitz sat down with stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, author Veronica Roth, and director Neil Burger, he noticed something about one member of the group that was different during his visit to the set.

James, who plays the fierce Four in "Divergent," was speaking with his normal English accent on the Comic-Con livestream, different from the American one he used on set while talking to Josh. He explained that using the accent all of the time made acting with it easier.

"For me, I think I find it easier to just be in the space all the time, so it becomes second nature because if I'm switching back and forth suddenly you're going to get a weird Cockney Four," James said. "Because I'm obviously a Cockney. I hope [Shailene] thinks I'm a Cockney."

Burger joked that James' dedication to the character went even further than his voice. "He stayed dressed in his costume the whole time, 14 weeks," he said.

The group was admittedly a "little loopy" from having to jump into the promotion machine of Comic-Con just two days after finishing filming. James jokes that he has had a hard time letting go of his character's more dystopian tendencies. "I just killed someone outside actually," he said. "I didn't mean to. He asked me where the toilet was, and I just smashed his throat."

‘Star Wars’ Meets ‘Taxi Driver’? Harrison Ford Reveals New Han Solo

He wouldn't confirm nor deny the return of Han Solo, nor would he submit to our request for a Chewbacca impression, but Harrison Ford was game to discuss what makes J.J. Abrams the right guy to assume the "Star Wars" mantle.

" 'You talkin' to me?' " Ford quipped during MTV's live stream from San Diego Comic-Con, adopting a mild impression of Robert De Niro's famous "Taxi Driver" line when confronted with questions about his iconic galactic smuggler.

Undeterred by Ford's impersonation, MTV News correspondent Josh Horowitz pressed on. "I'm not prepared at this time to have an in-depth conversation about — what did you call it again? — 'Star Wars,' " he said slyly. "I can't talk about it."

Despite descending upon San Diego to talk about "Ender's Game," the 70-year-old actor did finally give in a little bit. When pressed to discuss some aspect of the forthcoming "Star Wars Episode VII," he lavished praise upon Abrams, the man entrusted by Disney (the proud new owners of LucasFilm) to pick up where 1983's "Return of the Jedi" left off.

"I think he's a great storyteller," he said. "He's developed an enormous filmmaking skill. I think it's a daunting project and he's the kind of guy that can take on huge challenges and deliver... He's an awful nice guy."

Abrams (under his Bad Robot Productions banner) was a producer on Ford's 2010 comedy, "Morning Glory." But the pair first crossed paths much earlier. Abrams wrote "Regarding Henry," which came out in 1991 when he was just 25.

One Direction’s ‘Best Song Ever’ Revealed: Is It The Who?

Directioners' parents overhearing One Direction's new single, may have thought it sounded like their best song ever growing up: the Who's "Baba O'Riley" from 1971.

Producer Julian Bunetta opened up to MTV News about the track and that sonic coincidence on Thursday, one day after it leaked prior to its official release on Monday. He said, "Well I mean it starts with a synth and 'Baba O'Riley' starts with a synth. I mean that's a huge compliment because if that can evoke that same excitement than that's amazing but that was not the... we weren't saying 'OK, let's rip off 'Baba O'Riley'.'"

He added, "At a certain point we recognized it had the same type of intro where there's a synth and a piano, but we really tried to make sure that there was no intellectual property stolen or anything like that."

(This is not the first time the young stars have looked to the past for some inspiration. Last year, 1D admitted to paying homage to The Clash's "Should I Stay or Should I Go" on "Live While We're Young.")

So, if "Baba O'Riley" is not the best song ever that inspired the group's new single, just what was?

Well, Bunetta says that's a mystery, even to him. "That's the thing. Have you ever had a night when you were out and you were with friends and you were partying and you were dancing and you were at the height of your happiness and you woke up the next day and went 'That was so much fun... what was ...

‘Degrassi’ Fans Get Ready: A ‘Huge, Huge Shocker’ On The Way!

It's not only summer break for real-life students, it's also vacation time for the pupils of "Degrassi." And this season, the series is trying something new as fans of the long-running teen soap will head off to all parts of the globe with the show's characters.

The new season kicked off last week, giving an early taste of all the ups and downs the crew will be going through during the steamy summer months. Everyone's leaving to various places, like Paris and New York City, as well as more rustic spots like summer camp.

Stars Luke Bilyk and Munro Chambers recently stopped by MTV News to chat about the show's fresh format. "I think it's something new for 'Degrassi' because we've never really seen this before," Chambers said. "We've done university before, around season eight, but 'Degrassi' [has] never seen what's happened in the summer, except like a special. So I think it's something exciting for the fans to see in the first seven or eight episodes."

Bilyk added, "It's not like a special like what you said. Sometimes you have like a spring-break special or 'Degrassi' goes to Manhattan or Hollywood, just following a certain amount of four or five characters going on a trip. This is actually summer — they get to go on a trip, and you get to see the whole school experience before they even come back to Degrassi."

With so much guaranteed to happen as the season unfolds, Bilyk admitted that there's bound to be some signature "Degrassi" drama and plot twists that will certainly ...

‘Gravity’ And The Spielberg Effect: How Sandra Bullock Got Stranded In Space

SAN DIEGO-- After years of waiting for the next movie from the director of "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" and "Children of Men" Alfonso Cuarón, we are just months away from "

When Cuarón stopped by MTV Comic-Con Live, he offered fans a better idea of what a "Sandra Bullock stranded in space" movie will be like. Based on the "Gravity" trailer, perhaps the easiest comparison in mainstream film that people can make is to Tom Hanks in "Castaway," but as Cuarón explain, "Gravity" will be much more suspenseful.

"The difference with 'Castaway' is that 'Castaway,' which I love, is a drama," Cuarón said. "Here, the tone is more of suspense. The character is in constant danger, all the time from the get-go. In many ways, the model was more 'Duel' of Spielberg than 'Castaway.' "

The reason behind the high anticipation for "Gravity" likely comes from equal parts fan reverence to Cuarón and the four-plus years they've had to wait for it. After "Gravity" missed its original November 2012 release date, there was a concern that we would never see it, but Cuarón explained that it was the project's lofty ambitions that got in the way.

"Everything was a big miscalculation, because you're writing the screenplay and thinking of cool things that you're going to do, and then the problem is that you have to make it happen," Cuarón said. "We realized that the existent technology was not going to make it, so we needed to create new technology. That's the reason took four and a half years for ...

Demi Lovato Didn’t Want To Be In ‘Made In The USA’ ‘At All’

PHILADELPHIADemi Lovato can now add another accolade to her long list of accomplishments: director.

On Wednesday, the singer premiered the video for her patriotic pop song the second single from her latest album, Demi.

The video, which she co-directed alongside Ryan Pallotta, follows the tale of a young couple, — played by "Friday Night Lights" actress Aimee Teegarden and "90210" actor Dustin Milligan — whose classic American romance starts off innocent and pure, but is shortly put to the test as Milligan's character is sent off to war.

When MTV News recently caught up with Lovato, whose "Heart Attack" clip is nominated for Best Female Video at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, she revealed that the idea for has been long in the works.

The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards: Complete List of Nominees!

"I was listening to it, and that's what came to mind. There was no reason, it was just something in my mind while I was listening to the song," Lovato said backstage at Philadelphia's Pop-Tarts Crazy Good Summer concert. "And I knew it was going to be my next single from my album and this is what I do: If I know what my next single is, I'm immediately thinking of the concept. I wanted it to look like a short film."

With its cinematic look and in-depth story line, many Lovatics might have been surprised that Lovato — who acts as a soundtrack to their love story, appearing only in performance shots — didn't cast herself as the leading lady.

Ace Hood Is ‘Gonna Be One Of The Best In The Game’

Among all of rap's glitz and glamour, Ace Hood exhibits a blue-collar ethic. Sure, he wears gold chains and a diamond-encrusted watch, which has made headlines itself, even if for all the wrong reasons. There is even his "new Buggati." But when you strip away the decoration, Ace Hood may be the hardest-working rapper out, and his latest, Trials & Tribulations, stands as his testament.

"It's a groundbreaking year for Ace Hood and I think this album, now that it's out, everybody understands who Ace Hood is now," Ace's mentor and We the Best CEO DJ Khaled told MTV News. "It might've took four or five [albums] to give him his respect, but now you respect him and now he's a problem. He's gonna be one of the best in the game, and I won't take no talk back about."

Trials is Ace's fourth LP and his first under the all-powerful YMCMB umbrella. His 2008 debut Gutta was unassuming and came and went, while most rap fans barely batted an eye. There have been standout singles like "Cash Flow," the Chris Brown-assisted "Body 2 Body" and, of course, "Hustle Hard," but on T&T, Ace brings his biggest hit ("Bugatti") and his most complete work.

The title track sets the tone as the South Florida rapper lays out all of his hardships. From the deaths of his grandmother and his baby daughter to his mother, who is "dodging heart attacks," Hood doesn't hold back. "I'm a walking testimony and I mean just what I say/ Looked my daughter in her eyes right ...
