Meek Mill ‘Graduates’ To Higher ‘Levels’ With New Track

So much of hip-hop music is driven by personal aspirations and rags to riches stories. The Notorious B.I.G. once bragged he "went from ashy to classy" while Drake is currently singing "started from the bottom, now I'm here." Meek Mill has also come a long way, but the Philadelphia lyricist is focused on upward mobility. That's the concept behind his new single .

"I always realized it's levels," Meek told MTV News on Monday when we sat with MMG to discuss their upcoming Self Made, Vol.3 compilation. "When I went to Ross' house for the first time, he had every car in the driveway and I ain't ever really know nobody that had all that stuff at one time. So you personally knowing somebody like that, you're like, "They're really levels out here man.' "

On the Cardo-produced track, Meek thumbs his nose at lower-tier rappers, but when speaking on the concept of "Levels," he is much more humble, noting that as far as he has come, he has room for growth. "People really doin' it at another level. I stay in my lane but I always try to graduate to the next level," he said. "I stay hungry and that's what I do. I see somethin', I like it and I stay hungry and try to graduate to that level."

Mill even applies the concept beyond rap. "No matter if you work at a job, or you play basketball, or you cut here, there's levels to everything you do [and] how hard you work," he finished.

Why ‘The Internship’ Isn’t ‘Wedding Crashers: Office Edition’

It's been eight years since Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson made some bad decisions in the blockbuster comedy and the two will reunite this week — as washed-up watch salesmen hoping for a fresh start at Google — in the film But just don't expect "Wedding Crashers: Office Edition."

For one, the raunch-factor has been ratcheted down for this PG-13 rated film; for another, "The Internship" touts an uplifting message that probably would have been lost on perpetual-partiers John and Jeremy.

"The audience reaction to the film has been tremendous, and the thing we keep hearing about is all the optimism and heart that the movie has," Vaughn told MTV news. "The movie is really funny with a lot of great turns."

Perhaps what's resonated most with audiences isn't the laughs but the film's examination of the pursuit of the American Dream in the midst of a fraught, unfriendly economy.

"The movie is really about what's going on now," Vaughn continued. "A lot of young people who are entering the workforce — there's a lot of fear about what kind of jobs are out there, and people who are older are losing jobs. So I think the movie really takes people who are put in a position that feels fearful or things have gone against them, that they're willing to kind of humble themselves and not give up on a dream and try to believe in themselves even when things present themselves not to be so easy. And I think that's something that all of us can really ...

Ariana Grande, Jennette McCurdy Won’t Pull A ‘Hannah Montana’ On ‘Sam & Cat’

Fans of Nickelodeon stars Ariana Grande and Jennette McCurdy know that along with killer comedic timing, the two multi-hyphenates also have some awesome singing pipes.

So, as they prepare to premiere their "iCarly"/"Victorious" spinoff, "Sam & Cat," on June 8 on Nick, they are opening up a bit about why they won't be singing on their series. And, it has something to do with Miley Cyrus.

"We didn't want to sing on the show. We had the option," Grande, who has recently launched her solo music career with her single explained to MTV News. "I think we just wanted to do like a TV show because I feel like since 'Hannah Montana,' it's been so cool for kid's shows to be musically driven. I don't think there's a show for kids out there now that doesn't have music."

McCurdy added, "This show, I think, is about being funny and making people laugh."

The show might not have singing, but it will certainly have plenty of LOL-worthy moments for fans of "iCarly" and "Victorious." The series follows the actresses reprising their roles of sassy Sam and ditzy Cat as they embark on their own babysitting service to make some extra dough. The premiere of "Sam & Cat" airs Saturday on Nick at 8 p.m. ET.

The ladies share the series is the perfect vehicle for them since it not only celebrates their small-screen friendship but also their real-life besties status. "We were super excited. We've been friends for a long time, before we heard about the show idea," McCurdy ...

Blake Shelton’s Summer Tour Is ‘Everything I Ever Worked For’

Blake Shelton couldn't make it to Wednesday night's CMT Music Awards in Nashville, which was a shame, considering his "Sure Be Cool If You Did" clip won Male Video of the Year.

Luckily, his wife Miranda Lambert — who won two awards of her own — was there to accept on his behalf, telling the star-packed audience inside the Bridgestone Arena that Shelton had "tried really hard to get here, but he's filming in L.A. tonight," before joking "Honey, I'm drinking for two tonight!"

Shelton's absence wasn't all that shocking, considering his commitments to NBC's smash hit "The Voice." But, as he told MTV News earlier in the week week, this summer he'll turn his attention away from the show ... to focus on a headlining tour — it kicks off July 19 in Virginia Beach — and making memories that will last a lifetime.

"Looking back, some of my favorite memories of growing up were summertime memories; Fourth of July, my birthday is June 18, and those were some of my most favorite times, and I want to do that again," he said. "I want to look back on this summer and think of it like those times, and it's already set up to be that. I'm going out on my first-ever headlining amphitheater tour, and I'm never going to forget it.

"It's everything I ever worked for, from the first time I tried to play a chord on the guitar, this was the dream I had, this was the image that was in my mind, of stepping out ...

Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Black Hippy Hit The Studio: What’s Next?

Kendrick Lamar sure made the most of his time in Detroit Wednesday night: Not only did he perform for thousands of fans on a scheduled stop on his good kid, m.A.A.d city tour, K-Dot also hooked up with Eminem in the studio.

Last night, longtime Shady producer Mr. Porter posted a picture of himself, Eminem, Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and Royce da 5'9" together. Then a second pic of Eminem and Kendrick hit the Web. Neither the Compton MC nor Em made any mention of the meeting on their social networking sites, though. And the posted pics don't actually mean that the crews have recorded anything.

The pictures came on the same night that Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Nas and Timbaland were photographed in the studio as well, so at the very least there seem to be good things brewing for hip-hop.

Last month Em was snapped in the recording booth with comedian Chris Rock, and in April he and Big Sean were photographed side-by-side and believed to be working on music as well. Last fall, Eminem teased a 2013 solo album when his official online store debuted a Detroit Tigers-style baseball cap that included the years of all of his previous LPs, with 2013 coming last.

A Kendrick and Eminem collaboration would make sense seeing as how the two are both regarded as top-notch lyricists and Dr. Dre protégés. Dre signed Eminem, and together they released his 1999 debut album, The Slim Shady LP. Kendrick just dropped his debut last year and has received a ton ...

Later on Beyoncé, who also has the role of Queen Tara in the film, tells the subject of the song to embrace who they are: "They'll burn you at the stake/ If you don't act like they want you to/ But baby be yourself/ Do good and help the world."

While fans have this song to tide them over, the singer has yet to announce when her highly anticipated 2013 studio album will be released.
