‘American Idol’ Finale: Will Candice Glover Or Kree Harrison Win?

It wasn't country versus soul, it was soul versus soul, as Kree Harrison and Candice Glover faced off Wednesday (May 15) in the first all-female finale in nine years.

The contestants sang three songs apiece: one chosen by "Idol" producer Simon Fuller, one that will be their winning single and one chosen by the contestants themselves as their favorite song of the season.

Harrison was up first with her version of Sarah McLachlan's "Angel," and Glover followed with Adele's "Chasing Pavements." Randy Jackson called the round for Glover — "at least she took the song and tried to make more of it," he said — but he wasn't blown away by either performance. Both songs were "a little sleepy, if I'm being honest," Jackson said.

In round two, Harrison debuted her would-be single, a country ballad called "All Cried Out." For a winning "Idol" song, it was a decided downer, with a chorus of, "I'm all cried out, I let it run like a river but I'm empty now." ("A Moment Like This," it wasn't.) Glover's song, "I Am Beautiful," was more melodic, more immediately catchy and more uplifting and was given a grander presentation, with images of fireworks bursting behind her as she sang the song's empowering chorus ("I am beautiful, I'm not alone," she sang). Keith Urban, who wound up giving the round to Harrison, said both songs were "tailor-made" for the contestants. Nicki Minaj — who said she felt Glover won the round — said Harrison's song made her "reach down in the gut" more than ever ...

‘Angry Birds’ Film Dive-Bombing Into Theaters In 2016

From your cell phone to the Cineplex: Sony Pictures Entertainment announced Wednesday (May 15) that it won distribution rights to an "Angry Birds" animated film, which is planned for release July 1, 2016.

Rovio Entertainment is developing, producing and financing a 3-D film based on the game, which the company first released in 2009. Set to be produced by John Cohen and David Maisel, who previously shepherded "Despicable Me" and "Iron Man" into theaters, respectively, the film will further develop the world within the game after launching the "Angry Birds Toons" animated series earlier in 2013.

No plot details have yet been released, but one can't help but wonder if the filmmakers will create an origin story to reveal precisely what got those birds so angry in the first place.

"Angry Birds" previously enjoyed movie crossovers with "Rio," which spawned its own version of the game, and in which the Birds are the Rebel Alliance and their Bad Piggy nemeses are the Empire. There's no word yet whether director J.J. Abrams will incorporate elements of "Angry Birds" into his upcoming 2015 film "Star Wars Episode VII" to serve as a prequel for the animated film. The decision to have Sony distribute the film also paves the way for a cross-studio collaboration with "Rio 2," which is scheduled for release in 2014.

What 'Star Wars Episode VII' Can Learn From 'Angry Birds: Star Wars.'

About the forthcoming adaptation, Maisel and Cohen said, "We are very excited to join with Sony Pictures in presenting this movie to the world in 2016 and we will ...

‘Fast & Furious 6’ Blasts Forward With Exclusive Clip: Watch Now!

"They've got a tank!"

Unique vehicles are a mainstay of the "Fast and the Furious" franchise, but the upcoming "Fast & Furious 6" is the first time audiences have ever seen a full-fledged, military-grade tank racing after the souped-up muscle cars or tricked-out imports driven by our heroes.

A brand-new clip just debuted on MTV, and in it, Tej Parker (Chris "Ludacris" Bridges) relays updates to his teammates during a high-stakes heist, leading to what promises to be one of the most unexpected chase sequences in the series' history.

"Let's play this fast and clean," Tej says via walkie talkie. (Playing it fast and furious might be inadvisable in a situation already fraught with tension.) "That thing's headed your way," he informs the rest of the team.

After one of Hobbs' (Dwayne Johnson) men launches a steel cable into the rock walls on either side of the freeway, his enemy's truck flips in the air. The transport Tej and company aimed to hijack grinds awkwardly to a halt. But before they can proclaim victory, a tank — hiding in the back of the transport — blasts through the crumpled cab that was carrying it, and takes off after the rest of Tej's teammates. Suffice it to say that the lookout man is concerned with the success of their plan. "Uh, guys, we've gotta come up with another plan," he says meekly. "They've got a tank!"

Check out MTV News' sit-down interview with castmembers as they uncover secrets about the upcoming sequel and answer fan questions.

Chris Brown Starts New ‘Channel’ To Share His Life… ‘Really’

The next time Chris Brown wants to announce something like his latest collaboration with Aaliyah, he won't need to hold a press conference. Instead, Breezy will have a direct line with his fans. Introducing: the Chris Brown Channel.

Along with the backstage access you'd expect from the new site, fans can do things like check out his closet, see him play b-ball in a mall, go on a roller coaster ride with him and even watch him light up. The site, which also has a mobile app version, collects photos, status updates and videos that CB posts straight to his followers, pushing his authenticity.

Breezy held his first "broadcast" Wednesday (May 15) in a sienna-tinted shot of him in front of his piano, welcoming everyone.

"Now all you guys can see me at all times of the day, keep up with what I'm doing... really," Brown said in the 13-second clip. "I appreciate you guys, man. I love you."

The singer had previously denounced his cyber presence in January, posting on Instagram, "Social media takes away the essence of why we are even special or icons. So with that, I'm detaching myself from that world." But it seems he's had a change of heart.

The app trailer claims the "channel" will give users more entry to the star's life than his Facebook, Twitter or Instagram — and given Brown's track record with Instagram and Twitter, he might need a social-media upgrade anyway.

‘Riddick’ Trailer: Watch Vin Diesel Fight For Survival

Vin Diesel's movie stardom has come and gone (and come again) at least a couple of times, but it's the actor's resilience and tenacity that has helped him survive in Hollywood. And in the long-awaited sequel to "The Chronicles of Riddick," simply titled Diesel doesn't shy away from letting art imitate life.

"I don't know how many times I've been crossed off the list and left for dead," Diesel's Riddick says in the first trailer for the film. "So this ain't nothin' new."

In the third installment of the franchise, Riddick struggles to survive on an alien planet, only to find himself hunted by a group of bounty hunters who will stop at nothing to apprehend him. After Riddick dispatches several among their number, however, he is finally captured, and it seems like the superhuman antihero is destined to finish his days with his head mounted as a trophy on a mercenary's wall. But their triumph is short-lived when a slumbering alien race awakens outside their encampment, and they must band together with their prisoner to survive.

The trailer features plenty of high-octane action, though this time without the muscle cars and babes that populate the world of the "Fast & Furious" film series. In one sequence, Riddick picks off his human foes one at a time, and in another, he battles against serpent-like monsters under the cover of darkness. Directed by David Twohy, who helmed the first two films, "Riddick" promises to have the epic sweep of "The Chronicles of Riddick" and yet the suspenseful specificity of "Pitch Black," the ...

Juicy J Calls ‘Bandz’ Ghostwriting Claims ‘A Lie’

Juicy J's rap resurgence makes for one heck of a story. With a solid mixtape run and his inescapable rap hit the Three 6 Mafia rapper/producer is riding high and readying the release of his solo shot Stay Trippy. But there is one Memphis, Tennessee, rapper who is claiming that Juicy's current run isn't all that it seems to be.

Yoyo Munie says that he actually wrote "Bandz."

"That's a lie," Juicy J said on Wednesday's (May 15) "RapFix Live."

In fact, "RapFix" host Sway Calloway could barely get his question out before Juice shot down the claim. "Lies. People thirsty out here; they'll do anything," Juice said adamantly." They do anything to try to get on. Nah, that's lies, man."

Earlier this month, Munie spoke with Complex.com, claiming that he has been writing for Juicy for about three years in a work-for-hire fashion. According to Munie, he penned the majority of Juice's 2011 Blue Dream & Lean mixtape and "Bandz a Make Her Dance," as well as "Gun Walk" and "Trippy," two Juicy-produced tracks that appeared on Lil Wayne's most recent I Am Not a Human Being II album. "That's what I'm mad about. He gets hooks from me, gives them to other people, and he's supposed to be putting me on, and he don't put me on," Munie said. "It's pissing me off."

On Monday, former Three 6 member Gangsta Boo backed up Munie's claims. "One of my homeboys wrote 'Bandz' for him," she told Vlad TV.

‘American Idol’ Finale Leaves Kree Harrison ‘Speechless’

Either way the votes come down, when the confetti explodes Thursday night, we will have our first female winner in six season. And both women in contention are still a bit surprised to even be in the running.

"Shock. Literally, I'm still speechless, I don't know what to say about being the top two," Port Arthur, Texas, native Harrison, 22, said when MTV News asked how it felt to make it to the , which kicks off Wednesday night (May 15). "It hasn't sunk in yet. But I'm so happy and proud of myself. I can't believe I get to sing for America for another week. That's an amazing thing to think about."

Her competitor, Candice Glover, said she's such a perfectionist that she found something wrong with every one of her performances to date on the show. But clearly the audience at home did not agree, because the 23-year-old from St. Helena Island, South Carolina, is one night away from being crowned the next "American Idol."

Randy Jackson's 'Idol' Exit 'Bittersweet' For Ryan Seacrest.

Though the three-time "Idol" auditioner was beating herself up about those perceived mistakes, before last week's performance show, Glover said she woke up and told herself that even if it was the end of the line, top three is pretty amazing.

"You don't have anything to worry about, you're fine," she told herself at the time. "Don't cry and scream and run all over the stage." She did all those things last week when the results were revealed, but in a good way. "I was definitely ...

Chris Brown Follows Drake By Using Unheard Aaliyah In New Song

Rihanna isn't the only one who has a duet on Chris Brown's upcoming X album. On Tuesday Breezy revealed that he has a special upcoming collaboration with fallen singer Aaliyah and has even shot a video for the track.

"I just actually shot a video and I did it and the song is dedicated to all my fans, but it's called 'They Don't Know' but this song features Aaliyah," Brown said on Tuesday while he attended a Los Angeles press conference for the upcoming 2013 BET Awards where he was announced as a performer when the live show airs on June 30.

X is scheduled for release on July 16, but with a music video already in the can, it seems as if fans may get to hear the track (and see the vid) beforehand. "I shot it in the hood, I went to the 60s. I went to Cedar block," Brown said in an Associated Press video of the infamous South Los Angeles neighborhood. "It's both worlds, it's bringing both words together in the video trying to uplift the poverty side of the community and just showing them where I'm from."

Brown is actually from Tappahannock, Virginia, but currently resides in Los Angeles and can relate to growing up in an impoverished neighborhood he said.

As far as the actual song goes, Chris promises that both his and Aaliyah's fans are in for a treat. "[I got] never-before-heard vocals, all new stuff that's never been heard before," he boasted.
