A new preview for the new season of “Catfish,” MTV’s hit reality show, just premiered online, and Nev and Max are back on the road, looking to reveal online relationships for what they really are.
The powerful first season saw the word “Catfish” become a verb in common usage — thanks in large part to the personal life of Notre Dame football player Manti Te’o. The social media sleuths will once again take up the cause of average people who just want to know the truth behind their online relationships.
Season two’s trailer teases some of the online relationship suffering from dishonesty, including one woman who has never met her fiancé in person. There’s also a relationship that has gone on for eight years without any in-person contact. Needless to say, there will be some big, life-changing meet ups during the second season.
The rest of the preview gives you all of the “Catfish” standards that you expect from the show: tears, anger and lots of nervous people about to meet their long-time online connections.
The biggest revelation comes at the trailer’s conclusion and is sure to have the show’s rather hardcore fans eager to watch the premiere when it debuts later this month. “This could be the biggest surprise ever,” Nev says into Max’s camera at the very end of the preview.
The second season of “Catfish: The TV Show” premieres on MTV on Tuesday, June 25 at 10 p.m. ET.
