Coffee Break? Hunter Hayes Wants To Join!

A lot of musicians hold meet and greets, but Hunter Hayes has found a way to really get the conversation brewing with his fans.

Hayes, who is currently on Carrie Underwood’s Blown Away Tour, hosts a Coffee House Experience before each of his shows, giving fans an intimate meeting with the 21-year-old singer.

In the latest episode of CMT’s “For the Love of Music,” Hayes took fans behind the scenes of these gatherings. And from the looks of it, he doesn’t hold much back. “I like hanging out with guys and just spending time,” he said. “We can do whatever we want.”

He began the meetings two years ago, and he wanted to keep the tradition alive, even as he plays bigger and bigger venues and arenas. He describes the coffee house as a “sacred ground.” “This was the time of the day that we kept unscheduled, uninterrupted. We can just chat for however much time we have here. It’s not rushed. It’s not quick. We can talk. We can laugh… ask questions,” he told his fans at one of the stops. “It’s all you.”

Hayes has tour dates slated right through August, and in June, he’ll perform at the CMT Awards where he is also a nominee. The “I Want Crazy” singer will drop his new album, Encore, on June 18 the same day he plays New York’s Webster Hall as a part of MTV’s Artist To Watch live series.
