Conan O’Brien is the host the 2014 MTV Movie Awards, and he’s really getting into the competition this year. So much so that he’s got a lot of money riding on Best Shirtless Performance.
MTV News sat down with O’Brien ahead of his hosting gig to get his take on some of the major categories of the night. Little did we know that when the winners are announced on Sunday, April 13 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, O’Brien will be very eager to hear who takes home Best Shirtless Performance.
“Well, it’s got to be Chris Hemsworth. It just has to be,” O’Brien said. “First, I think he deserves it. Second, I’ve put a ton of money down. I’ve made a bet, a huge bet, and I’m into some bad people for the money. So I need Chris Hemsworth to win this award. It’s crucial that he win.”
But before you assume that O’Brien is acting irresponsibly with his betting, know that he’s clearly put some thought into his pick.
“I think when people start taking their shirts off and you put Thor in the category, Thor wins, hands down, every time,” he said. “Man, woman, I don’t care. It’s got to be Hemsworth. I’m rooting for him.”
As strategic as O’Brien’s pick might sound, Chris Hemworth is really just where the host’s heart lies.
“I have a shirtless poster of him in my dressing room at work. They’re very hard to get,” he revealed. “They don’t actually sell them. I had it made. I had a Chris Hemsworth shirtless poster made. I had to wait outside his bathroom for a long time with a telephoto lens and go to a poster shop. But I’ve probably said too much.”
