“Glee” Star Cory Monteith was found dead in his hotel room at Vancouver’s Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel Saturday, according to police reports. He was 31.
Police say the cause of death was not immediately apparent, but that foul play had been ruled out.
Monteith had checked into the hotel on July 6th and had been scheduled to check out today. The actor’s body was discovered by hotel staff when they went to check up on Monteith after the actor did not depart upon his scheduled noon checkout time.
Vancouver Police say Monteith had been with other people Friday night, but hotel video footage revealed he returned to his room alone early Saturday morning, and it is believed he was alone when he died. Police added that the scene is under investigation and an autopsy is scheduled for this Monday.
Monteith, who was known to the world for his role as high school jock-turned-singer Finn Hudson since Glee’s premiere in 2009, voluntarily entered rehab for substance abuse this past March and checked out a month later.
The 2013 turn had not been Monteith’s first turn at a treatment facility. During a 2011 interview with Parade Magazine, the actor revealed that he had first entered a drug treatment program at the age of 13.
