When “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” opens in theaters this weekend, many audiences will be introduced to Dane DeHaan, the actor playing Harry Osborn, for the first time.
The past few years, DeHaan has been making a new for himself in roles that are lesser-known than the Green Goblin, and he grabbed attention from the critics almost immediately, thanks to his unique looks and the emotional weight he can bring to darker roles.
If you’re just becoming aware of DeHaan, there are more than a few movie and television roles of his that are worth checking out.
“In Treatment” (2010)
DeHaan made a splash playing Jesse, an adopted teen who seeks help from Dr. Paul Weston, on the HBO series “In Treatment.”
“True Blood” (2011)
In addition to his time on “In Treatment,” DeHaan also stopped by another HBO show for a three-episode stint as a werepanther.
“Chronicle” (2012)
People lucky enough to see the under-appreciated found footage superhero money were treated to a stellar breakout performance from DeHaan as the troubled Andrew.
“Lawless” (2012)
It’s not all dark for DeHaan. He got to show off some comedic chops as Shia LaBeouf’s dim-witted sidekick in the Prohibition crime drama.
“The Place Beyond the Pines” (2012)
This generational tale ends with DeHaan stealing the show from the likes of Bradley Cooper. Even if the last two thirds can’t stand up to the Gosling-focused open, it’s worth it to see DeHaan.
“Kill Your Darlings” (2013)
Daniel Radcliffe received raves for his performance as Allen Ginsberg, but he had a lot of help from DeHaan as Lucien Carr.

Yeah, concert films usually don’t have actors or storylines, but this one does. And it’s wonderfully weird.
