DJ Khaled says he’s Suffering From Success, but he isn’t the only one. His buddy Chris Brown seems to be still reeling from his high-profile breakup with Rihanna.
On Tuesday, the charismatic We the Best DJ dropped “I’m Still,” a new track from his October 22 album, which features Wale, Wiz Khalifa, Ace Hood and Chris Brown. On the album version of the song, Breezy sings the hook and toasts to his haters, vowing that he’s “still gonna end up on top.”
The unreleased version, however, which made its way onto the Internet, has a rap verse from Brown and a drastically different tone. He makes subliminal mentions of the two loves of his life: Karrueche Tran and Rihanna. “You n—as mad ’cause you f—in’ with dem regular hoes, and ain’t nothin’ better than my Asian/ Hol’ up wait, n—a f—in’ with my patience, ’cause I’m that n—a give a f— about a racist,” he begins his rap verse.
Brown goes raps aggressively, blowing off steam, spitting lyrics about pulling triggers, his diamond collection and his cold heart before he delivers the line that seems to be directed at Rih Rih.
“Now every n—a in the industry done f—ed my bitch/And all my n—as said, ‘I told ya,’ ” he rhymes without saying her name.
In June 2012, Chris Brown and Drake were involved in a brawl in a New York City nightclub, and their respective relationships with Rihanna were said to be at the root of their issues, which they have reportedly put behind them.
Last October, Chris released a viral video titled where he admitted that he had feelings for both Karrueche and Rihanna and then questioned: “Is there such thing as loving two people?”
After that, Instagram pictures of Chris and Rihanna showed the two sharing loving moments, but in May, Breezy revealed that he and the pop star had split. “Yeah, I’m a do it solo. I mean, at the end of the day, Shawty doing her own thang, she on the road. It’s always gonna be love … I’m just gonna do me. I’m a grown man, just gotta fast forward,” he said when he called into Australian radio show “The Kyle and Jackie O Show.”
“The way I look at it is I’m always gonna love that person and people have differences and people have different wants and needs. I can’t be focused on wife-ing someone that young. And I’m young too. And I can’t focus on that. I need to be the best Chris Brown I can be,” he added.
Now, Brown seems to be most focused on releasing his sixth studio LP X, which he says will come on December 3, after he gifts his fans with five new songs. “Since we pushed the album back to December 3, on 11-19-13 ima release 5 new songs just for my fans. Love y’all,” he tweeted Tuesday. “These 5 are bangers so y’all better buy ‘X’ dammit!! Lol”
