Dillon Francis Channels ‘The Hipster In Me’ In New Music

2013 has already been a big year for 25-year-old Dillon Francis, and it’s only getting bigger. The self-proclaimed hipster is back from his first headlining world tour and is finally ready to do some Stateside entertaining, and not just with witty tweets.

As one of MTV’s Artists to Watch, Francis will headline MTV Clubland’s July 15 show at New York City’s Highline Ballroom, as well as MTV2’s Party in the Park on July 18 at San Diego Comic-Con.

According to Dillon, those who show up to his show are promised a special guest vocalist and several new tracks off of his not-yet-released album. And when MTV News caught up with him, he explained what exactly fans should expect from his upcoming music.

“I’m making a shift toward making popular music with vocals, kind of like what Zedd did, but not so much in the vein of Swedish House Mafia, more like, the hipster in me.”

Dillon couldn’t think of a better place to showcase his new work than MTV, as he spent most of his childhood watching and admiring music videos on the channel, instead of going out with his friends. He was, as he described it, “obsessed.” “I’m just happy that MTV wants to be part of my journey,” he added.

The Highline Ballroom will have no shortage of talented and dashing young men come Monday, as the Chainsmokers are slated to open the show. On Wednesday, Dillon Francis will move on to Comic-Con for Party in the Park, a part of MTV’s Geekend. It’s a crowd that Dillon expects to be “completely different” from his usual fans, but one that will be amazing nonetheless.
