‘Divergent’ Actor Miles Teller Opens Up About ‘Fantastic Four’ Rumors

As a young, rising star, it was only a matter of time before Miles Teller, of “The Spectacular Now” and the upcoming “Divergent,” got swept up a superhero-movie casting rumor, and when his turn came up, it was for Josh Trank’s “Fantastic Four” reboot.

According to The Wrap, Teller is “in contention” for the role of Reed Richards, a.k.a. the stretching Mr. Fantastic. And though Trank later took to Twitter to deny the report, MTV News’ Josh Horowitz had to ask Teller about the rumor during VMA All Access Experience.

“Dude, I don’t know. I have no idea,” Teller said of the “Fantastic Four” rumor. “I think at some point you just have to play a superhero. That’s the world we’re living in right now. I mean, they’re getting snatched up left and right. I would love to be in ‘Fantastic Four.’ That would be something I would be very proud to be a part of and happy to do. As far as this whole rumor thing, I don’t know.”

While he was at it, Teller figured that he’d also through his hat into the ring for another role in another high profile franchise. “I was putting the rumor out there for Han Solo,” he joked. “I don’t think that’s going to happen. I had an audition. It went pretty well, but I don’t think it’s going to happen. It’s all under wraps.”

Returning to Reed Richards for one last comment, Teller reasoned that he’s at the right stage in his career for such a role. “I’m at an age right now where you can start a superhero because I can play him for the next ten years,” he said.

The first full teaser for “Divergent” premieres tomorrow during the pre-show for the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, which starts at 8 p.m. ET/PT, an hour before the big show.
