All aboard — the next stop on the Dauntless train is Brooklyn’s Barclays Center for the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.
stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James will exclusively debut the official first look from their dystopian drama during the VMA pre-show, airing August 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. And we’ve got a sneak peek at the footage, which also features Academy Award-winner Kate Winslet in her role as Jeanine Matthews. Watch the preview below!
The film, based on the best-selling novel by Veronica Roth, is set in a near-future Chicago, in which society has been divided into five factions each representing a different virtue — Abnegation (selflessness), Erudite (intelligence), Dauntless (bravery), Amity (peacefulness) and Candor (honesty). Teens are tested to determine their faction, but when protagonist Beatrice “Tris” Prior (Woodley) discovers she doesn’t fit neatly into any group, she’s left to find her own place within the world, ultimately leaving her friends and family to take up with the daring Dauntless.
“Divergent” opens March 21, 2014.
