Do Something! Awards: Watch The Best Moments!

Some of the most charitable celebrities in the game were honored at the 2013 Do Something! Awards, which aired Wednesday night on VH1. The show also honored a handful of non-celebrity activists for their charitable work.

Oscar and Grammy-winner Jennifer Hudson attended the show for her work with the Julian D. King Foundation, which provides support to children. It was created in honor of Hudson’s late nephew, Julian. “It just shows how much it warms my heart to see so many blessed by our blessings in honor of nephew,” she told the room, barely holding back tears.

Former MTV reality star Kelly Osbourne was honored for her work to raise awareness via the Race to Erase MS charity. It is a cause especially close to her heart since her brother, Jack, was diagnosed with the disease. She told the room, “I want to thank my brother, Jack. He’s the real hero. He should be getting the award tonight.”

Other big honorees and guests included host Sophia Bush, LL Cool J, “Modern Family” star Jesse Tyler Ferguson, “Grey’s Anatomy” star Patrick Dempsey, Malin Akerman, Lucy Hale, Russell Simmons, Aisha Tyler and “Sex and the City” star Cynthia Nixon.

In addition to shouting out the celeb do-gooders for all their hard work, the show also nominated five non-celebrities for their charitable work: Sasha Fisher (Spark MicroGrants); Daniel Maree (Million Hoodies Movement for Justice); Jillian Mourning (All We Want is LOVE – Liberation of Victims Everywhere); Lorella Praeli (United We Dream); and Ben Simon (Food Recovery Network). Maree went home with the $100,000 grand prize for his charity at the end of the night.

The show also included some memorable performances from the likes of J.Cole, Fitz and the Tantrums, Sara Bareilles, as well as a performance of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Same Love” from the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles.
