In classic fashion, the much-hyped Justin Bieber cameo on Sunday night’s episode of “The Simpsons” was essentially a throw-away joke that you might have missed it if wasn’t for an on-screen warning.
Bieber popped in briefly during an episode entitled in which Bart pretends to be a keyboard prodigy because he is smitten by his sexy Russian piano teacher.
“First of all, you’re over 10 years old, second, you’re clearly Justin Bieber,” says the security guard at the entrance to the 10-And-Below talent show. An incredulous Bieber, wearing a Versace leather jacket and gray T-shirt, throws up his hands and says, “That’s another 25 bucks we’ll never see! Gosh!” Standing right behind him in a white hoodie, blue sport coat and NY baseball cap is manager Scooter Braun, who did not get a line in the bit.
After Bieber stomps off, the scene changes and the words, “All clear — The Simpsons will be Bieber-free from this point on.” Just before his appearance, a similar warning popped up, “Thirty seconds to Justin Bieber, you may start or stop watching according to your beliefs.”
Like Lady Gaga in 2011, Bieber played himself in the episode.
With the bucket list check off, Bieber joins a long, and illustrious list of famous musicians who’ve swung by Springfield (either as themselves or characters), including: three Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Katy Perry, Smashing Pumpkins, Cypress Hill, U2, Fall Out Boy, Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Ramones, the White Stripes, R.E.M., Michael Jackson, Metallica, Britney Spears, 50 Cent and Coldplay’s Chris Martin.
