Drake Is ‘The Saddest Boy In All Of Canada’ In His ‘SNL’ Promos: Watch

Hold on, Drake‘s coming to “Saturday Night Live” this weekend. The actor-turned-rapper will not only perform on this weekend’s show, but he’s also tapped to host. And in just-released promos, fans are getting an early peek at what he’ll be up to.

“SNL” stars Bobby Moynihan and Jay Pharoah join the rapper during the spots, which were released on Wednesday (January 15). They not only pitch him beats (including a meowing cats backing track), but also wonder if he has the skills to host the show.

But, any Drake fan knows that he definitely knows how to act. “Well you know I was on a Canadian soap opera back in the day,” he shares before showing off his exceptional, albeit dramatic acting skills. With emotion in his voice, he says, ” ‘No, you broke my heart and now I’m reduced to the saddest boy in all of Toront… You know what? Not even Toronto. I am the saddest boy in all of Canada…’ Scene.”

It’s been a while since fans have seen Drizzy act. He first rose to fame playing Jimmy Brooks on “Degrassi: The Next Generation” back in Canada. Drake, a.k.a. Aubrey Graham, was on the show for two seasons and left in 2007 to pursue a rapping career.

This marks Drake’s first time hosting the show. He first played the Saturday-night staple back in 2011, when made a cameo as a werewolf during Seth Meyers’ “Weekend Update” sketch along with Pharoah.

Drake is the latest chart-topper to pull double duty. Previously Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and Bruno Mars all hosted and performed during the show.
