For an actress who’s on everyone’s list of favorite ladies to girlcrush on, Emma Stone has quite the robust cadre of crushes herself.
In an interview with Stylist, the “Amazing Spider-Man 2” actress spent practically the entire time name-dropping all the women she admires, from the obvious (Jennifer Lawrence) to the retro (Gilda Radner) to the, er, scary. Who’s on Emma’s list of ladies she loves?
Melanie Brown, a.k.a. Scary Spice
Any girl who grew up in the ’90s has a permanent place in her heart for the Spice Girls, but Emma Stone takes it to a whole new level: after receiving a surprise birthday message from favorite Spice Girl Mel B, the actress reportedly responded by rapping the entirety of Mel’s spoken solo from “Wannabe.” Color us impressed.
Gilda Radner
Emma Stone wasn’t around for Radner’s original run on “Saturday Night Live,” but her mother — a huge fan — introduced her daughter to the actress and show that Emma says “became my beacon.” No wonder she’s got such impeccable screen presence, quick wit, and comic timing!
Amy Poehler
Do you love Amy and her “Smart Girls at the Party” project? So does Emma, who cites the actress and comedienne as a favorite for her fresh, authentic efforts to reach out to a female audience.
Ellen Page
“There are new methods to inspire women and speak to women,” Emma told her interviewer. “Like Ellen Page, did you see that?”
Why, yes. Yes, we did. And it was damn amazing.
Jennifer Lawrence
And finally, this one should be no surprise. You love Jennifer Lawrence, we love Jennifer Lawrence, the whole world loves Jennifer Lawrence, and yes, Emma Stone loves Jennifer Lawrence, too.
“She is so inspiring to me, and I am so grateful that she exists in the world, as someone who is authentic and who has not bent to fit any idea of what a woman should be like in that kind of position,” Emma said. “And she is so talented. I am just so happy that she is around for women everywhere. It’s just fantastic.”
And if we could just get all of these amazing women together for a musical homage to Gilda Radner, featuring a giant ensemble finale of “Let’s Talk Dirty to the Animals,” that would be just about the best and most perfect thing ever to exist in the world. Let’s make it happen, Hollywood!
