Eva Green is front and center in “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For,” co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s latest adaptation of the Miller-created comic book universe. And when we say “front and center,” we mean “almost naked.”
Green bared it all, or almost all of it, in a recently leaked “Sin City” poster, wearing a translucent nightgown and holding a small revolver in her hand. The poster was banned by the MPAA “for nudity — curve of under breast and dark nipple/areola circle visible through sheer gown.”
It’s not an explanation you hear every day of the week. And it’s not an explanation that makes a whole lot of sense to Green. Speaking with Vanity Fair, Green said she’s heard about the “Sin City” controversy, and she finds it “a bit odd.”
“It seems like it’s all just publicity — a lot of noise of nothing,” she said. “You have so many more violent things in the movie business and this is kind of soft. I’m not naked. It’s suggested.”
In fact, not only does Green think there’s nothing wrong with the poster, she finds it “really sexy, actually.”
“It’s kind of beautiful,” she said. “But if it shocks people, I don’t know what to do about it. I don’t want to upset anybody.”
As Ava Lord, the titular “Dame to Kill For,” Green will upset a whole lot of people when the “Sin City” sequel hits on August 22.
