Exclusive ‘Life After Beth’ Trailer: Aubrey Plaza Searches For Love, Brains

Sometimes when a pop culture trend seems played out, a movie comes along that pumps new life into it, and “Life After Beth,” a Sundance Film Festival favorite starring Dane DeHaan and Aubrey Plaza, definitely brings more than just the zombie movie back to life.

And MTV has the exclusive premiere of the first trailer for “Life After Beth.”

In the film, DeHaan plays Zach Orfman, a guy mourning the unexpected death of his girlfriend Beth (Plaza). If you picked up on the fact that this is a “zombie movie” up above, you probably know what’s coming next.

Zach discovers that Beth has come back to life, and they are able to pick up their relationship where it had been cut short — with a few small changes. Namely, Beth is now a zombie, and she has to do zombie things, like eat people.

It’s a funny take on a familiar concept, but even just watching the trailer, you get the sense that there’s more going on here than a cute set-up.

Not only do the performances look great — John C. Reilly and Molly Shannon stand out as Beth’s parents — there’s an opportunity for some clever relationship commentary as Zach begins to drift from the recently resurrected Beth.

The film also stars Anna Kendrick, Alia Shawkat, Cheryl Hines and Paul Reiser.

“Life After Beth” opens in theaters on August 15, premieres exclusively on DirecTV on July 17 and will screen as a part of the Sundance Next Fest in August.
