Fergie Gives Birth

Fergie is officially a mom! The Black Eyed Peas singer gave birth to her son, Axl Jack Duhamel, on Thursday (August 29), her rep confirmed.

It is the first child for the singer and her actor husband, Josh Duhamel. The couple married in January 2009 and after years of speculation about Fergie’s midsection, the couple first announced the pregnancy back in February. They made the announcement via social media, telling fans, “Josh & Me & BABY makes three!! #mylovelybabybump!” Then in July, during an appearance on “Live With Kelly and Michael,” Duhamel confirmed that the couple was expecting a baby boy.

Back in March, the singer opened up about becoming a mom for the first time, telling “Good Morning America,” “I know that my husband told everybody what I said. My quote when we found out — ‘This ‘blank’ just got real,'” she said. “But it’s true. When that moment occurs to you, there’s going to be a human being growing inside of you … it’s reality. It’s amazing, we’re thrilled.”

In October 2010, at the premiere of his family-themed dramedy “Life as We Know It,” Duhamel said that Fergie would be a great mom, eventually. Fergie “[is] not afraid of children; she just hasn’t had as much experience with little ones. She’s great with kids when they grow up a little bit more, when she can interact with them,” he said.

Meanwhile, his co-star Katherine Heigl gave Josh a rave review. “Oh my God! The best of the best! He’s fantastic,” Heigl said at the time. “He’s really good with children. They sort of flocked to him. I think it’s a pheromone thing. I think he puts off, like, a chocolate-cookie scent to children. They love him.”

In addition to welcoming their little bundle of joy, Fergie (born Stacy Ann Ferguson) changed her name. The singer will now officially go by Fergie Duhamel.
