‘Glee’ Brings Another ‘Mean Girl’ To McKinley High

Fans are only two weeks away from the season-five premiere of “Glee.” And in addition to newbies like Demi Lovato (who will play Naya Rivera’s love interest on the show) and Adam Lambert, McKinley High is welcoming yet another new student.

Erinn Westbrook has been cast, according to Deadline, to play Bree, a “mean girl” and the newest member of the Cheerios.

It hasn’t been confirmed when Westbrook is slated to make her entrance into Lima, but the first two episodes of the season are Beatles-themed. There are 14 Beatles tracks the Gleeks are expected to cover during those episodes, including “Yesterday,” “Help,” “A Hard Day’s Night,” “All You Need Is Love,” “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” “Hey Jude” and “Let It Be.”

Once the Beatles episodes wrap up, fans and the cast will finally get the chance to say goodbye to Cory Monteith, who died in July at the age of 31. Jane Lynch revealed what it was like to shoot the October 10 tribute episode.

“It was hard, and it was beautifully written. We grieved together, and it was so important for the crew to grieve as well, so we kind of all grieved as a big family,” she shared with People. “It was really hard to do, but it was a really beautiful episode.”

In August, show creator Ryan Murphy revealed more details about the tribute episode and how the writers would deal with Monteith’s death.

“There were a lot of things that we had to decide — how are we going to deal with his [character Finn’s] death? At one point, we were going to have his character die after an accidental drug overdose — that was something we had considered. But we have decided that we’re not going to have him pass from that,” Murphy explains. “Basically, what we’re doing in the episode is we are not telling you yet, or maybe not at all, how that character died. The idea being, how somebody died is interesting and maybe morbid, but we say very early on in the episode, ‘This episode is about a celebration of that character’s life.’ “
