‘Godzilla’ Trailer Smashes, Thrashes And Crashes: Watch Now!

That bone-chilling, world-shaking “HAAAN!” you hear? That’s not a super-sized French Montana, screaming at the Heavens. No, that’s the signal, plain as day, that the King of All Monsters has returned.

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have unleashed the first official trailer for today, ahead of the theatrical version’s release alongside “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” this week. If you thought the Kaiju of “Pacific Rim” were tough, wait until you get a load of their granddaddy.

The first preview begins by following Aaron Taylor-Johnson, playing a military man, through a HALO jump straight into hell, a city completely devastated by the radioactive monster. The rest focuses on the human element of the story, while teasing images of Godzilla, who appears to be bigger than any previous big screen iteration.

Directed by Gareth Edwards of “Monsters” fame, “Godzilla” stars, well, Godzilla. They call him the King of All Monsters for a reason. But the film boasts a monstrous and fan-friendly cast of human actors as well, including “Breaking Bad” antihero Bryan Cranston, and future “Avengers: Age of Ultron” stars Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen. While Taylor-Johnson and Olsen play super-siblings Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in Joss Whedon’s “Avengers” sequel, they’re playing husband and wife in “Godzilla.”

We’ll give you a minute to chew on that.

“We get to play husband and wife, and we get to play twin brother and sister,” Olsen told MTV News recently when we asked about her different “Godzilla” and “Avengers” relationships with Taylor-Johnson. “It’s also fun because even though in ‘Godzilla’ we play husband and wife, we don’t have a lot of scenes together. I just love him. I love his family. I love his kids. I’m so excited… to actually work with each other. I think it’s going to be fun.”

“Godzilla” will destroy your local multiplex on May 16, 2014.
