The mysteries of Gotham City are coming closer to stepping out of the shadows and into the light — and it’s all thanks to a little “Cat.”
On the latest episode of “Gotham,” Detective Jim Gordon makes a new young friend, while his other new young friend goes to extreme lengths to test his pain threshold. Elsewhere in the land of scum and villainy, Fish Mooney’s plans to take out Carmine Falcone threaten to boil over, while even further outside of Gotham’s city limits, a Penguin waddles to the beat of his own drummer.
It was a big episode for the new DC Comics series, yielding a ton of questions in the process. Such as…
1. What Does Selina Kyle Really Know?
At the end of the episode, Selina calls for Gordon. She wants him to help make sure she’s not sent upstate to a juvenile detention center. In exchange, she can tell him who killed Thomas and Martha Wayne; she witnessed it all.
But what more does she know that we, the viewers, don’t? She saw what we saw — a masked gunman without many, or any, real distinguishing characteristics. Did she pursue the killer further? Has she seen him before? How will Selina’s knowledge impact the search for the Waynes’ murderer?

2. Are Bruce Wayne’s “Tests” Too Extreme?
Honestly, it’s hard to say. On the one hand, intentionally burning the palm of your hand is never a great idea. Then again, perhaps it’s the best idea, if intentionally burning the palm of your hand will one day lead to you becoming Batman.
Intentionally burning yourself certainly is not advised, but that said, it’s very fun to see young Bruce so decisively on the path to his Dark Knight future.
3. When Will Gordon’s Secret Come Out?
Everyone around town believes Gordon is “with the program.” Criminals like Fish and cops like Detective Harvey Bullock and Captain Sarah Essen all believe that Gordon killed Oswald Cobblepot.
Of course, we know better, even if Gordon isn’t spilling the beans to anyone else. But with the Penguin waddling around not far from Gotham, how long will it take for the rookie cop’s secret to come to light?
4. When Will Penguin Accept His Name?
Outside of Gotham City, Cobblepot kills and kidnaps his way to living in a remote trailer, blackmailing the parents of a wealthy weasel for money. He’s looking more disheveled than ever, his teeth browning with rot, his shoulders hunched up to his ears, his legs crooked. More and more, Cobblepot is looking the part of the nickname he hates so much.
Based on the source material, we know a day will come when he embraces his Penguin personality. Will that day come soon, or will Oswald spend season one rejecting that moniker?
5. How Will The Gotham Crime War Shake Out?
Fish Mooney wants Carmine Falcone dead. She wants to do the deed herself, with her hands, and her teeth. But she needs to bide her time. Falcone’s onto her. She can’t act as fast as she wants.
But from what we’ve seen of her already, Mooney is anything but patient. She’s impulsive and oversensitive, used to getting her way. Can she bite her tongue long enough to get within striking distance of Falcone, or will her desire for blood cause her to act too fast?

6. Who Is The Dollmaker?
Kidnapping killers Doug and Patti mentioned that they work for a man called The Dollmaker. Who is he? Well, we have one very big guess — and if we’re right, it’s very cool news for fans of all the DC Comics shows, “Arrow” especially.
7. Who Will We See Next?
With numerous DC super villains and characters referenced throughout “Gotham,” it’s only a matter of time before some other major players enter the mix. A new extended season trailer gives us a tease of what’s ahead: knife-wielding psycho Victor Zsasz, “Dexter” and “Oz” veteran Davis Zayas as Sal Maroni, and the reopening of Arkham Asylum after 15 years of closure.
