‘Gotham’ Cast Reveals Which Batman Bad Guys They Want To See Next

With Reporting by Alex Zalben

Penguin, Riddler, Poison Ivy and Catwoman — four iconic Batman villains who made appearances in the “Gotham” series premiere, if not in their full-realized form. And they’re far from the only rogues in the Dark Knight‘s gallery headed to the new FOX series.

Ahead of the premiere, MTV News caught up with the cast of “Gotham” at the show’s red carpet premiere, and asked them about the villains they’re eager to see in the weeks ahead. The most popular answer — and not at all surprisingly — was the Joker, Batman’s arch nemesis, who remains uncast on “Gotham,” but is already being teased; that comedian at Fish Mooney’s nightclub wasn’t there without a reason.

Other popular recommendations include Joker’s sidekick Harley Quinn, Harvey “Two-Face” Dent and the Scarecrow. But there’s another series of villains worth considering, according to Barbara Kean actress Erin Richards: the villains who haven’t been invented yet, like Fish Mooney.

“Those characters are very interesting to explore because [creator Bruno Heller] can do anything with them,” Richards argued. “Even with the Penguin, even though he’s such a fabulous character and Robin Lord Taylor is doing such a fabulous job with it, it’s a little more restricted because people have expectations. With Fish, anything can happen.”

Indeed, not even Fish herself — actress Jada Pinkett Smith — knows what’s ahead. “I’m as excited as anyone to find out what’s going to happen, and I don’t know — that’s the truth,” Smith said. “I get excited to see the script every week to see how the story unfolds.”

Regardless of which villain pops up in Gotham City next, Penguin actor Robin Lord Taylor has only one request: that he gets to meet them all.

“I want the meeting of the minds between [Penguin] and everyone else,” Taylor said. “I want to see that side of Gotham City come together.”

“Gotham” airs on FOX on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET.
