‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Just Won The Summer … Again

It does not suck to be Star-Lord.

Chris Pratt’s galaxy-galavanting scavenger is officially the number one hero at the box-office this summer, now that “Guardians of the Galaxy” has won the honors of becoming the highest-grossing movie of the summer at the domestic box office.

During its fourth weekend in theaters, “Guardians” reclaimed the number one spot from “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” with $17.6 million, bringing its total to $251 million in just four weeks. By this coming Friday, “Guardians” is expected to rocket (get it? Rocket?) past Marvel’s other 2014 hit, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” as the number one movie of the year.

Not bad for a bunch of A-holes.

The situation is considerably less happy for another comic book movie: “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For,” the sequel to 2005′s “Sin City,” which premiered this weekend in eighth place and just $6.48 million. That’s what they refer to in the biz as “going up in smoke.”

Box Office Top Five
1. “Guardians of the Galaxy”: $17.6 million
2. “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”: $16.8 million
3. “If I Stay”: $16.4 million
4. “Let’s Be Cops”: $11 million
5. “When the Game Stands Tall”: $9 million

What movies did you see in theaters this weekend?

Likes pizza, punch and pie. Dislikes the Chitauri.
