GULF SHORES, Alabama — Vinny Guadagnino knows a thing or two about shores. So when MTV sent the former “Jersey Shore” star down south to the Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama, in addition to catching great performances, he knew exactly how to have a little fun all on his own.
Selfies abounded among the 40,000-plus crowd, but the “Show With Vinny” star is not to be outdone. Vinny was challenged to a contest against fellow guest correspondent Chrissy Teigen, squaring off to see who could take the most selfies with fans in 30 seconds. (Lesson learned: It’s harder than it sounds.)
Vinny also took some time to catch up with two of the Friday’s performers, Ra Ra Riot and Big Gigantic. Ra Ra Riot’s multi-instrumentalist Rebecca Zeller talked about the beautiful beach vibes that encapsulate the Hangout Fest, as well as some theories on what makes a show like this so special.
“The vibe is a little more laid back,” Zeller said. “We see at least one person passed out or need special attention.” But Vinny, not a stranger to a party scene, maintained that “that’s what I consider a success. If people are dropping dead at your show, you know it’s good.”
The Hangout Music Festival 2013 continues throughout the weekend, with performances on deck by Kendrick Lamar, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ellie Goulding, Stevie Wonder and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
