Paul Rudd could be going from national newscaster to superhero, if Marvel has its way.
According to a report by Variety, the star is in early negotiations to star in “Ant-Man,” though the studio offered no comment. Joseph Gordon-Levitt had also been among those rumored to be considered for the part, but Gordon-Levitt also could be headed in a different comic book direction with “Sandman.” Earlier this week, Deadline reported that the 32-year-old is finalizing a deal to produce the Warner Bros. project with plans to potentially star and direct, as well.
As for “Ant-Man,” Rudd would play the character whose alter-ego is scientist Henry Pym, who invents a substance allowing him to change his size and communicate with insects. Edgar Wright is directing and co-wrote the script with Joe Cornish. Wright most recently helmed 2013’s “The World’s End” and before that, 2010’s “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.”
“Ant-Man” already has a scheduled release date of July 31, 2015.
